The fact is still true with the rookie wage scale he takes a pay cut coming to the NBA.

Which should be mitigated with endorsement opportunities plus his second contract will undoubtedly be much larger than his contract will be in 4 years if he sits out the rookie scale. Nobody is giving a max deal to someone who hasn't played a minute in the NBA.

I haven't seen any reports about his buyout clause.

His contract is up at the end of the season because he always intended to go to the NBA. Word is he passed up a pretty large extension/longer term deal.

Immediately, once he becomes the primary ball handler, you can see him taking over on offense and producing a bigger impact.

I don't know much about him, but I can tell you that watching this is giving me hope. He just looks like he's on another level than the other players. Completely calm, good decision making, a smooth shot, and good defense.

That's exciting to read. I may not be a scout and know things about metrics and whatever else they look for, but that eye test is still pretty damn important.

And the kid is still only 19. He is far from the finished product.

I haven't yet had much to say about Luka Doncic... and I honestly still don't know what to say about him. Deandre Ayton's my guy in this draft. I just love his physical tools and potential. But if he's a lock for Phoenix's pick, then the Kings have a decision to make at #2. For some, it's obviously Doncic that should come off the board next. Personally, I like Bagley a helluva lot, and I think he'd be a great pick at #2. But I'm looking forward to digging into all of the writing that's been done on Doncic as the draft gets closer. I didn't imagine that the Kings were going to be picking this high, so I simply paid little attention to Doncic's profile as it's risen in the last year.

At this point, I'm unsure of what to make of him. I've heard comp's of all kinds, from James Harden to Manu Ginobili to Ben Simmons to Lonzo Ball to Ricky Rubio to some mutant hybrid of all those guys. There's clearly never been a European prospect like him, though, to be touted so highly as an NBA draftee that he's in the mix for the first pick in the draft. I do like his size a lot. 6'8", 230 lbs at only 19 years old?! No wonder scouts talk about him working over grown ass men. The kid's big. And I do love big guards who can bully their way around the court. That said, he's got tremendous skill and finesse, as well. It all sounds so appealing, but is he the future of a franchise? Is he a playoff team's best player? That's what I want to know, and consensus is mixed on the answer to those questions...

Exactly. Staying in Europe and banking that he'll land on the team of his choice while delaying his second contract or just waiting out his rookie deal to sign a long term deal in 3-4 years just doesn't make any sense. The first year of his second deal could wind up paying him more than the three years he waits in Europe plus any endorsements he may make. I'm assuming Euroleague players don't make a lot in endorsements based on their salaries.

I would say he had a good game. Tale of 2 halves, but didn't look overwhelmed. He really struggled shooting the ball and creating his own shot. Had some troubles breaking down defenses with his handles. On the other hand, played unselfish and did a great job setting up the half-court offense. Defense was good, good help D. Was active on the boards. Did a good job controlling the flow of the offense.

I know his dad played professional so he should be decent size. Doncic is pretty big for a 19 year old he’s gonna get bigger when he sheds some baby fat for muscle
