Rumblings about the Adelsons pulling a Maloof, trying to tank the team in advance of a move to Vegas makes some sense, since they seem like deeply evil people.

The Columbus Crew owner tried to move the team to Austin and was denied but was given the rights to buy the Austin club and a new buyer for Columbus came in.

I could actually see this move currying some favor for a franchise swap down the road.
