I know but could just as easily said AD instead of Luka and at least rumblings last couple days that AD said preferred to play 4 not 5 and Luka had possibly wore out his welcome in Dallas.

Luka brought that Mavs to the NBA Finals only for Kyrie to shrivel up in Boston. AD is known for shirking from big moments. What a cluster F.

This is basically the Mitch Richmond for Chris Webber trade redux. These guys are about the same ages and Luka is probably about the same caliber of player as CWebb in his prime. I don't know what Luka did to pee off the Dallas front office but he had them in the Finals last year and led all players in points, rebounds, and assists during the 2024 playoffs so it must have been something big. There's just no way that "he doesn't play enough defense" is the real reason.
