Luka a Laker

From twitter.... Mavs executives had concerns over Doncic health... so they turned to AD that never had such issues right? Antony "Iron Man" Davis.
That does make sense though. And they aren't wrong, this is about to be a new era potentially when defense makes a comeback. Wonder if they might be scared Luka is about to start breaking down.

So Dallas was the one approaching the Lakers for that trade.
Obviously they felt they didn't want to extend Luka with the 345/5 supermax contract this summer.
They claim it is because of health issues AND because "defense wins championships".

Luka brought that Mavs to the NBA Finals only for Kyrie to shrivel up in Boston. AD is known for shirking from big moments. What a cluster F.

This is basically the Mitch Richmond for Chris Webber trade redux. These guys are about the same ages and Luka is probably about the same caliber of player as CWebb in his prime. I don't know what Luka did to pee off the Dallas front office but he had them in the Finals last year and led all players in points, rebounds, and assists during the 2024 playoffs so it must have been something big. There's just no way that "he doesn't play enough defense" is the real reason.
