Lowry-Houston-Toronto

What is Houston doing? A protected first for Lowry? (Why didn't the Kings do this deal?) The roster they have now is absurd. The draft analysts talked about who they got on draft day, but look who they have lost. And their point guard for next year is coming off of major surgery. They could easily be a bottom 5 dweller next year. Me no understand.

They already have a protected first to the Cavs. Once again that trade hamstringing the team.

Its not so much that draft pick, but the maloofs inability to take on lowrys remaining salary without dumping any of their own. if they had money he could have easily been had. theyre just broke. and i hate this crap about having money for cuz and evans extensions, its like theyre trying to get off the hook for having to spend free agent money like they promised, if they dont extend either cuz or evans look for a new excuse to hold them over.

Because of the max salary threshold for 5th year players, even with Evans and Cousins signed to max contracts we'll still be $25-30 million under the salary cap. Lowry would have been a starter and he's making an average of $6 million a year. If you believe in Win Shares, that makes him one of the best value contracts in the league. If you're trying to save money I can understand passing on Batum or Wallace but Lowry is a no-brainer of an acquisition. I think Section is right on this one -- Houston wanted a first round pick and we can't trade ours [Hickson'd] so we were SOL. It was the #5 pick or no deal.
