Lottery position thread

Hmmm, I guess it's time for another lottery rundown.

#1: Memphis 19-57
#2: Boston 23-51
#3: Milwaukee 26-48
#4: Atlanta 27-48
#5: Charlotte 30-48
#6: Seattle 30-45
#7/#8/#9: Philly/Portland/Sacramento 30-44
#10/#11: Minnesota/NY 31-43
#12: Indiana 32-42
(Orlando, NJ, NO/OKC and Golden State have 34-36 wins, and are out of luck.)

If we can pull off 0-8 down the stretch and Seattle gets an upset win or two then we might have a chance at the 6th. But it's time for management to tank it.

Even #5 is possible, or a #5/#6 tie.

Seattle plays Portland on the 14th, one of them is going to lose!

Portland also has games against the Warriors and Clippers, you never know.

Philly and Charlotte have been playing quite well lately for teams that suck, and their schedules aren't impossibly hard.

Charlotte has played well when they actually have their starters on the court together, which has been rare this year. Having Meka back has made a big difference. And Philly is actually a pretty good team since trading Allen Iverson. Both of those teams have been a lot better lately than their records indicate. Which means it wouldn't be unexpected for them to score more wins from here on out than we do.

Oh, and Charlotte is 30-46 not 30-48. They have 6 games left.

In all actuality though, we're tied for 5/6th as well. We all have 30 wins....which is the column that matters. We control our own fate...if we go 0-8(which is quite possible)...then we will get down into the 5-7 range no doubt. I think Seattle/Portland play each other and there might be a couple others...and so ONE of those teams HAS to win. I could easily see us get to #5 in a couple weeks. maybe atlanta could win 4-5 more game this season to get us down to #4??? Do not underestimate the suckitude of this roster.

Okafor is key. Once he came back, Charlotte started winning. It sure is interesting how once Webber and Iverson left Philly, they started winning. Sometimes, less is more.

I hate to be a buzzkill but I think the Kings may win two more games. If Musselman is convinced he is fighting for his job I could see them beating Memphis on the road and winning a home game. If the Lakers have nothing to play for the last game of the year and "rest" their players I could see Sacramento winning that game.

Beating Memphis wouldn't be the end of the world.

The key right now is the 5 teams that have 30 wins -- Portland, Seattle, Charlotte, Philly, and us. Philly and Charlotte are winning games. Seattle's schedule isn't too terrible, they are likely to win at least 1, and quite possibly 2. Portland's schedule is pretty bad, they will probably win 0-1. (Seattle and Portland are playing each other, so at least 1 of them will definitely win at least 1). In any event, it's likely that Portland, Seattle, and us will be numbers 5, 6, and 7, in one order or another. If we win none, it's probably 5, if we win one it will likely be 6 or 7. Which isn't bad, especially considering that we were looking at 11-13 not long ago.

I doubt that we will beat the Lakers. They may not be very motivated, but we've shown that we can be even less motivated.

The lakers are trying to keep denver from the 6th spot it think. Most likely they will be playing hard that game to keep themselves there. The games that concern me are memphis and NOK. Those are the two games i see us winning. And most likely we will since the Kings management is so stupid they could not consider tanking them to get us a real chance at scoring a top 3 pick in the lottery.

Atlanta is at 27 wins at the moment. They play Mil twice, Boston at home, at Phil once, and play IND at home. They might also play a WAS team with out Arenas. This means they can maybe win 3 more games and put them at 30 wins. Also They play Phil at phil so that could mean Phil wins one more.

April 10 against Memphis is Key

We have to lose that one. And that's going to be very tough if management doesn't come to its senses and tell the coach to play the young guys.

Actually....

I think we'd have a better chance at winning if we DONT play the youth.

"Jack 3's no D" Bibby and "I'm a PG trapped in a 7 footers body" Miller will give us a better chance at a lin then Williams and Price hustling on the floor.

Douby playing for Martin however.....That could help.

You might have something there, but I'd take my chances with a lineup of Douby(1&2), Price (1), Garcia(2&3), Martin(2) and Williams(5). You could play Corliss at the 4. Actually, it would be a kick in the pants to watch it.

Hey....I didnt say it wouldnt be fun to watch!

And if we're in danger of a woss Muss could put all the high paid vets in to get us the lin! :p

The good news is we still have the toughest schedule ahead of any of the the teams around us.
The schedules are pretty much a wash. None of these teams except for maybe NY play a weaker team than them more than once. And with Okafor back, even NY's winning more than one is doubtful.

Seattle: Utah, Houston, Phoenix, Portland, Lakers, Dallas
Portland: Dallas, SA, Houston, Clippers, Seattle, Utah, GS
Minnesota: NO/OKC, Toronto, Dallas, SA, GS, Denver, Memphis
NY: Milwaukee, Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey, Toronto, New Jersey, Charlotte

Sacramento: Houston, Memphis, SA, GS, Clippers, NO/OKC, Lakers

We need 4 W's from ATL
2 from Seattle and Portland
1 from the rest and we're home free..as it is, I have this feeling we'll get a top 3 pick, I dunno, I just feel it.

You forget, our next game is against Houston who, without Yao and TMac last night, could not even beat the pathetic Zachless Blazers. If Yao and TMac are still out on Sunday, we will very likely wose. And after that, we play Memphis, the worst team in the NBA. An almost certain woss. Then it becomes:

We need 6 W's from ATL
4 from Seattle and Portland
3 from the rest and we're home free.

Which is totally not going to happen.

I'd absolutely love for your feeling to be right, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The Kings have to got to get it together! That was a killer against Utah. I don't think you can win against Phoenix and Utah and really compete for a 5-6 slot The idea is to play ALL the young guys, not just some who are playing very well!:) Douby should definitely have been in there for Salmons last night!

Cheer up. I heard Reynolds say that McGrady is playing against us. All is not lost! That said, I think it's going to take a miracle for us to lose against Memphis.

We won because we played the young guys...we gotta stick with what got us to this position.

Sonics with the HUGE 22 point come from behind WOSS to Utah. Man that's THREE straight the Jazz have choked away here now. Knicks with HUGE WOSS from Eddy Curry's 3 pointer at the BUZZER. There were some dang good games tonight fellas...Kings just moved up in the picks now with those two teams winning. We just need to figure out how to lose these last 8 and we'll be GREAT!

Last night we were tied for 8th/9th/10th, tonight we're alone in 9th, so not really a change. NY's woss was offset by the Blazers lin, and Seattle's still a full game ahead of us. So, could be worse, but we still have 7 games left to go.
