Live Webcam of an African watering hole - Very Cool

Is that what those are? The cow/bison looking things? :o
Yeah, with the mane and two horns and "hulking" front end. They are not too attractive an animal and look like a mix of a lot of animals. Babies are still cute, tho. :D

(Altho over 30 years ago, I was lucky enough to spend 3 weeks in Kenya. :D)

Probably more often called a wildebeest, than a gnu. And is actually a type of antelope.

You can see pictures of some of the types of antelopes here.

Thanks for the info, kennadog. Is there anything you know nothing about? :p

It is just fascinating to watch this. Very cool, indeed!!!

Yeah, thanks for the info kennadog!

I have no skills whatsoever with animal identification. :D

I wish they had something like this underwater, too. Since I scuba dive, I just like seeing lots of cool fish.

Pretty neat! I don't see much, I hear a bunch of crickets - but I did see a shooting star.

Make a wish...

or was it a firefly?

Ok, has anyone else caught sight of the structure about 100 yards away when the camera pans around?

Is that some sort of game reserve?

Yes! I read that this watering hole is in and African Game Reserve.

Edit: It is the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve in South Africa.

Some would say basketball.....;)

When I was a young I wanted to grow up and be a wildlife biologist. Wanted to go to Africa since I was little. After college, I got to go and it was the most awesome trip. It was a class out of UCLA and we were accompanied by a biology professor. My identification skills are rusty tho. I'll never forget the gerenuk antelopes. So dainty and fragile looking. Like many animals in extremely dry habitats, drinks its own urine for hydration. The birds in Africa were absolutely incredible in variety, too.

I can't believe I watched that waterhole for about 1/2 hour. :p
