Okay, we all know the media can and often does takes things out of context that are said by various players, coaches, etc. Most often a writer will do it in an attempt to shore up his/her article and prove a point.

So in an attempt to help our young players avoid those pitfalls, I'm starting a list of acceptable interview responses our Kings - and any other NBA players - can use that should help them avoid being trapped.

The first, of course, has to be the classic:

1. "Both teams played hard, man. Both teams played hard."

2. "I just want to do whatever I can to help my team."

Got any others?

- "Yeah, Kobe had a good game and all... but Tyreke had one of the GREATEST GAMES OF ALL TIME! ALL TIME!"

- "Yeah, Kobe scored more points than me and everything... but, look at the stats. They tell the real story."

"I just gotta keep working hard and stay focused".

"People talk about how good I am, but I don't pay attention to that stuff"...

Tonight, the ball just ended up in my hands at the right time. But my teammates made it all possible.

You might say we were lucky this time. A few more games like this, and then we can truly say we were good.

Hey, he's a superstar. I looked up to him growing up. But on the court, respect is earned.

It's only one game, but we'd all rather have had the "W".

The Coach had a plan. Next time, we'll do a better job executing it.

The key is to say vague stuff that can't be taken one way or another.

When we lost a game:
"What do you think about the lost tonight?"
"We pushed hard. We were just trying to do our best. It's just one of those days."

When we won:
"What do you think of the reason for tonight's win?"
"We did our best. I'm just so happy for the result."

-----

When asked to comment on a superstar teammate:
"What do you think of Tyreke Evans as a teammate?"
"We are just so blessed to have him on our team. He's so talented and contribute so much. He is very key to our success."

When asked to comment on a veteran teammate:
"What's your impression on Kenny Thomas?"
"The thing about Kenny is that, he plays hard. he gives his best night in and night out."

When asked to comment on a prospect teammate:
"What do you think about Donte Greene?"
"He is just so gifted. He has a lot of potential to contribute to the game that any team would love to have."

When asked to comment on an opponent:
"What do you think about Derek Fisher?"
"He's just a very talented player on doing whatever his role in the game requires him to do."

When asked to comment on an opponent superstar:
"What do you think tonight against Kobe Byrant?"
(With better, more excited, facial expression) "He's just a very talented player on doing whatever his role in the game requires him to do."

------

When asked to comment on a coach decision:
"What do you think of the decision of coach Westphal benching you, Sean?"
"I'm just focusing on working hard and do my best to contribute to the team right now."

When asked to comment on a trade rumor:
"Rumor has it that the Kings is actively trying to trade you. What's your reaction?"
"I'm just focusing on working hard and do my best to contribute to the team right now."

When we win:

I just want to thank the lord above for giving me the talent and the opportunity to be here an help my teammates win the game.

When we lose:

I just want to thank the lord for giving me challenges from which to learn and grow as a player and as a person, and hopefully help my teammates win in the future.

1) We gotta play 'em one day at a time.
2) I'm just happy to be here. Hope I can help the ballclub.
3) I just want to give it my best shot, and the good Lord willing, things will work out.
