Well it was reported that he and Nancy were not on good terms, and that may even have mattered a bit in his dismissal (rumored he and some players not on great terms either).
Also remember that Nancy only got the job because of George Karl -- he was the friend/connection.

You and I were talking about this quite recently. I've noticed WCS and Omri also talking with Nancy, along with Vlade.
I am angry, and it's not because of my gender. It's because this is more proof that George Karl isn't willing to get with the program and accept that things are changing. Nancy has reached out to the Sacramento community and she and several Kings have worked with or are working with local charities for the good of kids, etc. That's important. To relegate her to second class status because Karl thinks she's a "Ranadive confidante" is very telling...and gives proof to the rumors that Vlade and Vivek wanted to fire Karl but were talked out of it by the minority ownership.
This team is still a trainwreck, and it looks like a bridge or six might have also collapsed.
This can't be real...but it is. And Kings fans just continue to sit on the sidelines with their boxes of popcorn. What a long strange trip it's been.

She is close to both of them. She even mentioned in an interview earlier this year how Rondo would regularly call or text her in the middle of the night because he thought of something (or saw something watching game film).

What bothers me is that I had been talking about the apparent demotion of Lieberman for a couple of weeks among friends. I tend to believe Amick in this because I don't think he'd put something with that much potential for reaction out there without pretty strong sources.
I believe beyond all shadow of a doubt that George Karl is trying his best to get himself fired. If this is true, things could get even more bizarre in the remaining days of our season. Things never before seen in the NBA? Not at all out of the realm of possibility in Kings land.

I believe she was marginalized in some way. And I doubt that sits well with some of the players.
What I'm saying is that the details of why, when, who was involved, etc just isn't there. Was that other let go assistant involved? I'm guessing yes, in some way.
As an aside, always thought it a bit of a classless move to make her sit behind the bench.

This seemed evident quite awhile ago. Nancy acts like a secretary in taking notes. I know that is not unusual. She also never represents the team at half time; not even to regurgitate the party line that the team needs to improve it's pace. Her job was not clear on game day.
Any bets on which coach comes back next year?

We don't have all the facts, but Nancy can't undermine the head coach like that. It sounds like this has happened, but obviously we don't know all the facts. The dysfunction is showing from the top down.
The report is that George Karl "exiled" one of his own assistant coaches because she gets along too well with the owner of the team. What exactly "exiled" means in this context is up for interpretation but I would have to assume it means communication between the two is either strained or non-existent. Where in any of that could someone come to the conclusion that Nancy Lieberman has done something wrong?

Nancy was brought on board by Karl so if she is chumming up with Vivek it creates an awkward dynamic if she is confiding to Karl's boss...likely saying things to Vivek that don't place Karl in the most flattering light. I am sure her opinions on how the team she be run differ from what she has witnessed.

The term was "unofficially exiled" which I take to mean she's assistant in name only and her falling out with Karl has reduced (eliminated) her influence.

This is a very colored reading of what was actually reported. When is it ever seen as a negative to have a friendly working relationship with your boss? There's nothing in the report that says she was leaking privileged information to Vivek (whatever that even means -- he's the owner of the team, what is he not supposed to know about his coaching staff?) or that she was spreading slander. If that's what you got out of this than you brought that interpretation yourself because it's not in the article. Not to mention -- if my boss's boss asks me for my opinion about something am I supposed to lie about it to make my boss look better? You have to work really hard to turn this into a negative reflection of Nancy Lieberman's character.
This could be some of what DeMarcus was referring to when he mentioned recently in one of his post-game interviews that there were distractions off the court that involved in-fighting between people who are supposed to be on the same side. I wasn't sure what those comments were referring to at the time. I don't have any information about this other than the one line in Sam Amick's article but to have anyone who works for you "unofficially exiled" rather than outright fired or engaged in a dialog of some kind that intends to fix the cause of the friction strikes me as childish and unnecessary. This is not something that happens in healthy organizations.
