Lance Stephenson to Kings?

there are other tweets saying we aren't interested. I am betting speculation here. I'm going to move this to the Personnel Moves forum. if it happens, I'll bring it back -- you started the first thread on it, so if it happens you broke the news and should get the thread starting honors. Have real doubts though. Just the sort of speculation you throw out as fact to get hits.

Darn I wish this was legit. As crazy as He is, the Kings could use a talent upgrade. He really helped the pacers when his head was on straight.

This article is somewhat right and somewhat wrong. The Kings inquired about Stephenson several weeks ago according to my source, but the players they want from the Kings are almost impossible to let go. No formal talks happened. My source is pretty reliable he was able to know Collison was coming even before speculations from other sources (internet news/our board) came out.

Sad to say my source does not know what particular type of player the FO is looking for. They (particularly PDA) never stop looking for upgrades in all positions and there was too much calling around. One thing I was told, the FO was high on Ben McLemore. It seems like the Pistons was interested on Ben, so that farther conversations was put to a halt. The bottom line is we DID at the very least inquire about Lance Stephenson.

Thought you'd say that nobody knows what's going on probably look at guys who dunk cause it's about style not wins

Why would we trade for someone who has proven to be a massive downgrade compared to a healthy Gerald Henderson on a Bobcats team while ruining the development of a good guy and only other younger player on the roster not named Cousins worth anything?

Do people really want to see Lance and Rudy on the same team? To me Ben after Cousins is the 2nd most UN-tradable player on this team

A lot of fans think nobody wants to come over to the stinking cowbell town Sacramento. The Kings are desperate to add some talents to this team. As I see it, the Kings cannot be that too choosy.

If we are going to go after a dumbass can we go after one that can block shots in the mold of Larry Sanders (or even Javale) which doesn't destroy the development of Ben Mclemore. I don't mind us bringing in talented players that have a high risk but not at the expense of Mclemore.

I agree, because those sweet looking jump shots of McLemore seems to be going in at a high rate now a days. Our young player is developing very nicely. I was told the FO is high on Ben and is not about to surrender him easily - also the reason about no farther negotiation about Lance Stephenson.

LOVE Lance Stephenson as a buy low candidate and the Bobcats are stupidly going to blame their problems on him and ship off a guy on an extremely team friendly contract.

The shooting percentages aren't going to stay that low. I'll take the 150 game sample that says his TS will be around 54% over the 24 game sample that says his TS% will be 42%. Essentially everything else has stayed exactly the same from his time in Indy, even going up a bit in most categories. Playmaking, rebounding, his turnovers and his usage have all stayed pretty level from his season last year. He's just suffering in the offensive death hole that are the Bobcats.

But seriously, talk about a perfect #3 fiddle for this team. Best rebounding guard in the NBA, one of the best playmaking off-guards in the NBA, very good defender, and I'd expect the shooting %'s to rise when he goes back to his more comfortable role of playing off star scorers like a Cuz or Rudy. Love the strides Ben has made this year, but I deal either him or Nik+contract for Lance in a second.

Some see him as a ball dominant player.

Is he really?

Not really. His 20% USG fits perfectly within a 3rd options role/FGA you'd want that spot to be at. And as he's a guy who's averaging 4.9 APG, that's going to take some ball control, sure.

What's unique about him is off-guards with his kind of playmaking ability don't only take 10 FGA/game. They take James Harden/Kobe esq number of shots.

And what's unique about him, is that he is a pretty bad shooter and therefore operates a lot from mid range or drives to the basket. With DMC and Gay as #1 and #2 Stephenson is just a really bad #3 option, cause you have major problems playing all 3 guys together, when you have no stretch 4 and a PG, that has lost his touch from 3 point range. I like his fire, but if you let Tyreke walk, cause you are afraid, that he doesn't fit with Cousins, you simply don't sign Stephenson, who is quite similar to Tyreke as a playmaking SG, who loves to drive and get out in transition.
Besides this the lack of outside shooting is the reason, why Stephenson took a step back with the Hornets. There are not enough shooters, who can benefit from his driving and 1vs1 abilities. It would be the same problems with the Kings.

Not really a bad shooter. Been a solid enough spot-up guy the past two years. Like I said before, dude's game hasn't changed other than him struggling to put the ball into the hoop, which would suggest that he's due to regress back to his mean soon enough

Well he shot between 33 to 35% from 3 the past 2 seasons, but did not shoot the 3 at high volume. I watched a good amount of Pacers games during the regular seasons and every playoff game and I personally would say, that he operates mainly from midrange or takes it to the basket. But i m not really a stats guy, so you might prove me wrong. ;)
Pesty defender, plays with fire, is decent in playing the pick&roll, but tends to overdribble and takes crazy shots. Not really a guy, who is close to ideal next to a post up player. But has the potential to be one of the better SG around the league, cause he plays absolutely relentless.

I can not imagine an offer from the Kings not containing at least Ben and JT, which gets the Hornets into trading him.

Btw. I would not be worried at all about his on court attitude and his potential relation with DMC. Stephenson does everything thats needed to win. DMC would love him.
