One nice touch was the Oscar Robertson award they gave to Corliss Williamson. If that was indeed Corliss' last appearance in Arco, I wish him all the best. He is a gentleman and a team player of the first magnitude. The league would be a better place if there were more players like him in it.

Hear, hear! I enjoyed seeing him get the award. WTG Corliss!:)

Ditto:) One of the classiest and most professional individuals the NBA has ever seen, IMO.

Lakers are a horrible team - even less talented than we are. However, they do have a coach

No way. The Lakers are both more talented right now, AND more talented looking forward than the Kings (talk about setting the bar low...)

They have two players that are better than anyone on the Kings (one of which is one of the best ever).

Plus they have one extremely promissing youngster (Bynum) and another very interesting/promising one (Farmar).

Kwame sucks as a #1 overall, but is serviceable when you dump those expectations (he would have "promise" right now, had he been a late round/second round pick)

Kings right now have Kevin Martin. Plus the hope that Douby/and/or/Garcia emerge as solid starters, and the HOPE that price/williams are solid backups.

Salmons is a servicable bench/role player, who is neither really a sparkplug nor consistant (if there is gonna be a huge variance in the play of one of your off the bench players.. you at LEAST hope that sometimes they absolutley catch fire and single handedly can change the flow of the game... he is neither consistant nor an occasional sparkplug).

Bibby is, right now, a middle tier pg. He is probably THE single worst defensive pg in the league, and he is a downright mediocre "playmaker" (passer). His "clutchness" used to carry the day for him... but frankly that whole "clutch" reputation was built in ONE playoffs many seasons ago. His offense overall is now is still generally strong (although it seems to be slipping a little), but it is inconsistant, and there can be no question that he usually gives the team NOTHING else when his shot isn't falling... it is expensive to keep him on the floor waiting for him to get hot, but with this player that is the only way to capitalize on this "lightning in a bottle" type player. He doesn't seem well suited to the "sparkplug off the bench" type role (he, like most players, would take it as a demotion) but that might be the best role for a player with his skill-set (as long as he is often in to finish games).

Miller.... is he done? or will his plethora of injuries ever heal sufficiently for him to approach his former level of play? Even if he does, he is an odd player... very complimentary in a team constructed to use his skils, but even at his best he has GLARING flaws that need to be covered. He is a weak rebounder, and has mediocre inside skills (or at least inclination to get in there and use them). Zero atleticicism (vertical leap, straigt ahead speed, lateral quickness), which paralyzes him on the defensive end, both as an on-man and a help defender. He has good court vision, and a nice mid range shot and good passing ability. Weird skill set for a 7-footer, which can pose problem for both the opposing team, and his own... IF HE IS EVER HEALTHY AGAIN.

Kenny Thomas is, simply put, worse than zero on this team right now. He has some skills that would be useful in this league, but they are packaged... uh.... poorly. And THIS well (at least) is poisoned enough that he will never be useful here again. He is OP in OP's last season in Sactown.

SAR and corlis are fine as MATURE vets coming off the bench. THey have skills and uses, but if they are key components to any team right now... that team is screwed.

If the Kings traded their ENTIRE roster PLUS this year's draft pics for Kobe and Odom.... the Lakers have just been screwed blind.
(and I know... it wouldn't work under the cap...blablabla.... :) )

Kings have neither good centerpieces, nor good roleplayers. The kings basically have alot of players with centerpiece TYPE skills, but just not enough of them to actually be effective centerpieces, and they are lacking many of the "support" type skills...

it is frustrating. :(
