LA Times says Tyreke Evans being shopped...

Sorry. I was thinking the last 2 games were Memphis and Miami. You know what my point was. So what's your rebuttal? We've never played well with him playing big minutes sans his rookie year.

At what position? Is he a major problem while playing SF? Is that the problem? How about season two with the sprained ankle and plantar fasciitis? He played poorly in the last month hasn't he? Oh that's right, he hasn't played. For some reason he doesn't produce with two or three other guards on the court. Shame on Tyreke. He needs to be saved from this idiotic team and traded or the mini chuckers need to be traded but to keep everything the way it is, yes they will lose.

We get Tyreke back playing a position he understands. Placing him at SF is absurd. Or perhaps the coach could quit trying to fit his mini chuckers all into the game and feel inclined to place Tyreke at SF to make room for them. A coaching decision could solve the problem but Smart has no trouble destroying Tyreke's young career.

The main thing is consistency - and I've been calling for this for the past year. It's one thing to move Tyreke to SF. It's another to move him to SF, then to SG, then to PG, then back to SF, and in each case have him play differently or ask him to fulfill different roles offensively. You want to move him to SF? Fine. That's a stupid stupid idea, but keep him there and give him a year and coaching to learn the position. Think he's best at SG handling the ball? Fine, stick him there and let him get used to playing it. Think he's best at PG, but needs to work on getting the rest of the team running offensively? Ok, put him there and teach him to map the floor and run plays over and over again till it's second nature. But for crying out loud, stop moving him around every other game.

Great posts, great thread, and I agree with you. That's why I could really see him going to a team that covets a guard with his D and upside with surplus pieces to deal at positions we need (*cough* DENVER) to prime a playoff run. Think about it- we need a vet PG that can tutor IT (Miller), a starting SF (Chandler), and another big (Randolph or Mozgov). Denver has a glut of SFs, and were rolling just fine without Wilson. They could use an expiring we could deal in Garcia to resign both Reke AND Brewer in the offseason. My deal would be Garcia, Evans, and Johnson for Miller, Chandler, and Mozgov. That, or deal him as part of a pack for Horford if ATL is really biting off on Dwight in the offseason hook, line, and sinker.

Let the record show, though, that as a consummate 'Reke hater up to this season, he's grown on me. In fact, this is the first season I've watched him where I can actually imagine and project his role on this team into the future, seeing it materialize. I'd prefer to keep him with a stronger lineup featuring a true, battle-tested PG, but that may not be mutually compatible. We'll see.

As far as im concerned Tyreke plays all defensive team caliber defense and causes all sorts of problems for the opposing team on the other end of the floor. I have no interest in trading Evans, especially when the names being tossed around Miller,Mozgov, Randolph and Chandler from Denver. I just had an idea. Lets trade Outlaw, Hayes and Garcia for Chris Paul. We'll get Chris Paul and it will give the Clippers some more...uhhh...depth!

Nah, I'm with ya (see last para). My big targets would be a true C to push DMC to PF, and a PG. Draft a SF (there's plenty this year, good caliber too). The player(s) I would most look at are buy low SFs (Granger, Chandler), or a true C that could be available from a team looking at a marquee player this year, like ATL pursuing Dwight. If we could get Horford AND resign Tyreke while potentially adding a SF or PG, wow. Think of: Horford/Cousins/Granger/Thomas/Evans.

Actually, Kings should be looking at C/PF, which means an athletic center who can guard PF effectively due to either length or enough quicks. Horford while more of a PF that can get away with playing center might be available if Atlanta is indeed looking at acquiring both Paul and Howard while retaining Smith. Still an idea that two superstars will change LA for Atlanta makes it very distant longshot.

Cousins is a true C. I don't why you think he is a PF, and Horford is a true PF who plays C for ATL. I think they would be an excellent pairing, but you have both of them playing out of position in your idea.

Just my opinion, but I believe the Kings have a center, and he's named Cousins. What they should be looking for is their own version of Ibaka. Of course Noel springs to mind in this years draft, but the odds of getting him are about as good as last year when we would have loved to draft Anthony Davis. A player like Withey will likely be available, but he's more of a center than a PF, but he is a very good defensive player, and would be at worse a good backup.

I know that Cousins has some PF skills, but when you consider his weight, athleticism, and total skill set, he's more of center, especially defensively. I'm a believer in playing players to their strengths, and the last thing I want is Cuz out there chasing the Milsaps of the world around.
