La Lakers @ Sacramento Kings

I'm surprised there isn't a game thread yet, especially against the Lakers :P. This is one of the games I actually wouldn't mind winning, but if we do lose I won't be too disappointed either. I hope they'll be able to at least keep it close. I don't think we'll stand much of a chance with either Hawes or Martin out.

What annoys me the most about Lakers @ Kings is the amount of Laker fans cheering Lakers on. It's really sad that Laker fans overshadows Kings fans @ Arco sometimes. We need the Glory years back :(

Well, I've always wanted to start one of these in a thread, so here it goes...

BEAT LA!!!!

:D

Kings fans NEVER root for the Kings to lose to the Lakers. NEVER. Sorry, but that's just not even open to debate IMHO.

Thanks, Lupin, for starting the chant.

BEAT LA!!!

And for old-time's sake, I'll add my traditional two cents:

Die Laker scum!!!

What if Lebron James was in the draft? :D

Yeah and what if the streets were paved with gold dubloons?

Being the worst in the league doesn't guarantee the best draft pick. Rooting AGAINST your own team against the hated Lakers is ridiculous. Even if we win tonight, which we most likely won't, we're still in last place in the standings.

You do NOT root against the Kings when they face the Lakers. Not if you really call yourself a Kings fan.

I'm fine with us losing to the Lakers if we are able to injure one of their players. Imagine Kobe going down for the season. Would that be heaven or is it just me?:p

No we can't beat LA people! We need a better chance at the draft :(
No worries. We're two games behind the Wizards and Clippers. Even if we lost the rest of the games of the season, we still have the same 25% chance of winning the first pick.

Remember, there's losing and then there's Laker losing.

Laker losing is not acceptable!

Beat LA!!!!!!!!!
happy i can watch the game over at my uncles house vacationing at san jose
Same here! My sister's family went to Disneyland. I'm watching the house... and the Kings!!!

We can root for them to win, though. That's the difference. You simply don't have a clue, do you?

Well.. lets say if the Lakers are ahead by 1 point with 10 seconds left to go. I wouldn't want the Kings to make the last second shot to win the ball game. Other than that I would like to see/root for the Kings to compete hard. At least make the Lakers sweat and I'll be satisfied no matter the outcome.

Wow. I guess I'm really losing touch or something. The idea of intentionally injuring a player, even a Laker, is repugnant to me beyond all definition. The game of basketball is poetry in motion to me and as much as I detest Kobe Bryant I cannot imagine how someone could actually hope for him to be injured at the hands of one of our Kings...

We have to root for our own team to lose to the Lakers and, while they're at it, intentionally injure another player?

Yeah, I guess that's sportsmanship and fandom at its finest...

How can you not have a passionate hate for the Lakers? ITS THE LAKERS! Draft position doesn't matter right now!

You've never attended a Kings-Laker game, have you? If you had, there's NO WAY on earth you could make that statement.

I'm outta here before I say something I'll really regret.

Lol actually i've been to 1 Kings game. I know it's a hard feeling to swallow. We'll just have to look at the bigger picture. :D

I don't mind us winning this game actually--our young players hopefully treat this game like a meaningful game and see how we stack against one of the top two teams in the league. I can actually see the Lakers, as they always seem to do against us, playing stupidly against us again and relinquishing leads, but whatever their problem is, it's our gain. Gives our young players valuable experience with great matchups like Kobe and Gasol, that's for sure.

As for the seedings, we're 1.5 games behind the Clippers, and we have the harder schedule--so if we win this game, what we need to do then is to lose to the Clippers to really seal the deal on the worst record in the Pacific, at the very least. As for Washington, which we're only 1 game behind of, I think they can actually okay schedule--they may actually win in Toronto (who they get to face twice), but they're selectively holding Arenas out of games, and knowing how bad their team is without him they may just lose all four. So really, besides the Lakers, and to play it on the safe side, we may have to lose the rest.

Like I said before, whether or not we lose or win this game, it doesn't increase the chances of getting the number 1 draft pick overall.

If we beat the Lakers, we'll still be in last place. And we have a quite a cushion (not that much though). One win wouldn't hurt our chances as long as we don't go on some winning streak. If your in last place, you have the same chance of getting the highest pick whether you have 1 win or 20 wins.

Yeah, whatever...

It's real easy to spout platitudes. I probably have a much better grasp of the bigger picture than you could possibly imagine but that's not the point. It's about pride tonight - playing on our home court against impossible odds, especially with Kev out for the game.

You do NOT root against your team in that situation. You can live with the probable loss because of the big picture but you don't actively root for it.

I've been a Kings fan since 1985. There is no freaking way on earth I would or could EVER root for the Lakers to beat our Kings.

i feel so juiced.i swear one day me and my friends are gonna buy out a whole section when the lakers come.we're gonna beat the crap outta every one of those laker fans....
