Kmart Injured!!

wow... i just didnt think it would be so soon... couldnt even make it to thanksgiving...

K-mart's image has taken some beatings as being labeled a soft player. If he casts/splint himself up and continues playing, that would definitely change his image. Take advantage Kevin and play.

I know that a lot of guys are into this macho crap, but for him to play with a fracture in his wrist is a bad idea. It would esentially make him a right handed player, and once again we would be getting Kevin at 70% for the rest of the year, and thats if he sustains no futher injury. If he has the surgery, worse case senairo is that he misses around 28 or 29 games. If he doesn't and decides to try and play, you have him for the rest of the season, MAYBE!

I tend to lean toward sure things. Maybe thats why my idea of gambling is to bet 5 dollars worth of quarters at a cassino. If I were Martin, I wouldn't gamble with my wrist..

Yes we are cursed.

We sign cisco....BAM....injury

We have KMart......BAM...injury

We have Evans......BAM...injury (sorta)

It's always after we take the plunge then injury strikes.
Let's take it back a little farther.

Hawes gets injured.... BAM....We draft him.

Cisco is out giving more time for Noce and Omri and now Udoka. Kevin out of the 2 spot, Tyreke slides over to the 2 and Beno to the PG spot with Sergio backup. The 2 backup becomes Udoka maybe or Beno with Sergio as PG. Lots of possibilities. Situation will demand more focus and effort from everyone. The new bunch, new coach and new system was going to take 2-3 months anyway to settle down and find a rotation that works.

I think Beno goes to the 2. Tyreke stays at the 1. I don't see Tyreke standing at the three point line waiting for a Beno pass, but I can see the other way around. We'll see...

not really sure what we lose here except for time to build chemistry on the court. Now the full reigns are thrown to Tyreke and we get to see an increase in minutes. Makes you think... do they have a crystal ball with the say our sg/sf combo guards have been falling? in any case, we know what we get with Martin. Let him heal and come back, we'll have amassed losses and have a credible reason for losing, while allowing him to come back at the end of year and build rhythm.

I wouldn't put either of them at the 2 to start. I think you either start Casspi or Udoka. I like Beno in his current role.

I agree with you, especially regarding Udoka. I haven't seen enough of Casspi at the 2 to know how that would work. It's probably going to be a matchup game though, and the decision about who to play the at the 2 will be dependent on who the other team is playing at the 2. Udoka, Beno, Casspi could all play at the 2.

I think there's a better than even chance Martin will elect to continue to play. And personally, I hope he does. He's being a vocal leader out there this year, and the kids on the team need that.

Yeah, everything I've heard and read today says that Kevin wants to continue playing. I hope he plays to, as long as he isn't risking making it worse.

I get the impression playing might not be risking further injury, and thats based on the fact that the doctors he's already seen didn't automatically rule him out. The teams med staff evaluated Kevin, and left the decision up to him, which to me means they would be ok if Kevin decides he wants to continue playing.

I don't see the team risking a permanent injury to their $55M man.

We should hopefully have an answer by Grant's show at 4pm on this. I think that IF Kevin isnt risking anything further and this fracture can heal properly, then he probably will elect to play with it. We shall see...

I would trade Kmart in a heartbeat right now. This guy is equivalent to a toothpick that will get snapped on any given game night. He doesnt play defense, is very injury prone, and cant be a leader of a team to save his life.

Trade

Tough assessment to make. Kev takes a lot of contact during the course of a game just due to the nature of HIS game. Of course a broken bone would be more suseptable to further injury. A hairline fracture could easily, with the right contact, become a full break. Of course, from the Kings perspective, not much risk, you just go the surgical route if and when that happens. I think it says a lot that Kev is even considering playing on it, that he wants to find a way to do so.

I don't see an upside to him playing with a fractured wrist. I know he plays an important role on the team, and that's really invaluable. But the Kings still owe him $46 million over the next four years. I wouldn't want to risk further injury when he could realistically miss a month and not have to worry about it ever again. We're not making the playoffs, we're not winning a championship; let's sit him down and let him get right.

I'm not a doctor, but from what I've been told and what I've read, by not having a hard cast, or surgery and then a hard cast there's a possiblilty that it won't heal properly and arthritis could result. To play he would be in a soft cast. I'm not sure just how much protection that will give him.

Also, I'm not sure the decision is totally his. The Kings have a ton of money tied up in him. The last thing this franchise needs is to have a player sitting on the bench, unable to play because of chronic wrist problems while making 12 mil a year. I don't know that to be the case, but if its even a remote possiblilty, then I would sit him down..

Just read sams blog. Sounds like thats what he wants, but the doctors/kings wont let him.

Amick also said that he was questionable and most likely wouldn't play Wednesday. I'll wait for something official from the Kings...

Andrew Nicholson said Martins surgery will be on November 9th and that Beno will be starting at SG on Sat on his twitter.

Okay, that's official enough for me since Andrew is one of the guys I met at the pre-draft workouts and I know he's not going to say anything that's not official.

:)

just makes it so much easier to have a complete youth set up going. Bring on extra mins for Caspi, Evens and Donte.

Gunning for the draft with hopefully some good excitement and learning on the way

Which hand will he hold the megaphone in?

...and you future Sacramento Kings SG, Tyreke Evans!

I knew it was only a matter of time, just thought it would be a little longer then 4 games into the season. Hello worst record in the league for a second straight year:(
