Kings workouts

Entity

Hall of Famer
Don't have a full list yet but it appears our first private workout will be this Saturday and it will be Australian PF/C beast Nathan Jawai.

He wasn't at the combine but, is listed at 6"10 282lbs appears to be good rebounder, and described to be nimble and explosive. He appears to have a decent jump shot as well.

here is a video of him and there are a few more.

As of right now DX has us taking him in the 2nd round.

NOTE from VF21: A workout list can be found at DraftExpress; the current list is http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-...uts.php?tid=30

Hey mods, maybe a sticky thread with the (ongoing) list of workouts? Don't we usually do something along those lines?

I am impressed with the video of this dude. Reminds me a little of Amare Stoudamire, could be a sleeper.

I would like to say that I'm high on him, but not having seen him play, its hard to really know what his skill set is. I think I've watched every U tube video on him and must admit he's pretty impressive. One always has to remember that for the most part your seeing all the good highlights and not the bad. But, he might be worth a flyer in the second round. Certainly a big body that appears to be very athletic.

I don't recall a stickied thread specifically for workouts, but that certainly wouldn't preclude us having one if we start getting a reliable list of scheduled workouts.

dont know why my post was deleted but anyways he reminds me of nene. a big body that bangs in the low post, can shoot from 12-15 ft and shows his presence on the defense end.

lots of dunks and one fly swatter block in a down under league that is probably at or just a hair above D-League here. Good NBA body, runs floor well and gets good vertical. A second round possibility, if available at 42/43.

So far 4 workouts and 3 of them were PF with another PF/C coming up saturday. also 1 SG has worked out as far as we know.

Your posts weren't deleted by me. I moved them along with the other ones discussing Joe Alexander to a new thread. It appears YOU deleted them afterwards. I could have moved them back if you were, in fact, talking about Jawai. Next time, just drop me a PM and I'll be glad to take care of it for you.

Maybe not a sticky, but perhaps editing the original post with a list of all the workouts, kinda like what we do with free agents in July?

It's funny how we were considering him for our lotto pick last year, now we're considering him for our 2nd rounders. Unless Petrie plans to trade a guy like Salmons/Miller for a mid 1st(since we can't do anything with Ron until July, so that's not a possibility). I'm not a huge fan of Hibbert but it would be nice to have a huge guy in the future like him to match up with the Bynums and Odens for 20 MPG.

edit: Is anyone else mad that Amick doesn't have any list of players that might/will be working out for the Kings? I mean all he's had is news that doesn't matter like Chuck Person interviewing for the Bulls job and nobody even cares about that. But freaking draft express is able to find out about players we've worked out before he has? Come on that's kinda pathetic. I am normally a Sam fan but come on man do your job!!!!!

I agree with you 100%, although for the record I'm not really a fan of his. I don't hate him or anything like that I just find he hardly ever gets any real scoops. Most of his stuff is just fluff pieces or like you said stuff everyone else already knows or doesn't care about.

Hibbert's stock has fallen in the last year, but I just can't imagine that it's fallen so far as to put him in contention for one of our seconds. I mean, just how many guys out there are a legit 7'2" and, mobility issues aside, can actually play the game of basketball? He's not going to be a franchise player, but he's got plenty of value in the late first and should be gone by about #25. I'd be shocked if he fell out of the first round.

Gotta figure Petrie's covering all the bases here. There are a number of teams that are rumored to want out of the first round, and we've got two seconds to try to swap up. Trouble is that Portland (#33, #36, #55), Minnesota (#31, #34), and Seattle (#32, #46, #50, #56) are in better position than we are (#41, #42) to swap two seconds for one first so we may not get the opportunity. But if we found a way to turn our two seconds into Roy Hibbert, I'd be fine with that.

I am ALL FOR swapping our two second rounders for a mid- to late- first round pick. I believe that's why Petrie is working out Lawson, Hibbert, and likely others in that range.

You do bring up a good point that I overlooked...man oh man does Seattle and Portland have a lot of second rounders! However, I believe a swap can be done still.

FYI, I got that Hibbert piece off of the "Consensus Mock Draft" page on Nba.com...clicked on a link on the ESPN NBA page. That seems to be a great source for compiling local beat writer's reports...

He actually has been quoted as saying that the Wallace case was the only time he had done it, and he said it was a huge mistake and he never would do it again.

Basically, you can assume that if we don't work a guy out, we aren't going to be drafting him.

Yeah, if I remember correctly he was going to pick Gilbert Arenas, but instead went with Wallace since he slid.

I remember that Gilbert said we had promised to draft him if he was still there. I didn't know that Petrie had said he made a mistake by drafting Gerald though.

Haha thanks VF, wish Petrie would throw the fans a bone though and do something similar to other teams.

Interesting to find out about DJ, Alexander, and Jordan though.

Funny thing is I think Wallace (healthy) helps a team a lot more then Gilbert 'I shoot a billion shots a game at just over 41%' Arenas.

Strange, I thought the story was that the Kings were going to pick Tony Parker until they realize that they were going to get Bibby from then-Vancouver later that day.

That's from the Spurs' perspective, they said the Kings was going to pick Parker until Bibby arrived on draft day. They could be right.

The Bee said Trenton Hassell was also a consideration.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
