Of course it's a good thing. The more the merrier. One of the things I like most about Petrie is he gives a lot of young men the opportunity to show their stuff. He may see something worth pursuing that no one else has really seen. I just wish the new coach was on board to help with the process.

I think he wants to see if there are any diamonds in the rough.
Exactly! Kevin Martin wasn't highly regarded as a first round pick but Petrie liked what he saw. Give guys a chance and you might just find another diamond in the rough, just like K-Mart was.

Ditto.. You got to work them out to know what they are capable of.

Steve Novak kind of intrigues me as a guy off the bench. Kind of a Kyle Korver type player.

I like Novak, another big-man shooter.

Pittsnoggle? Eh, I think he's irrelevant to us.

Augustine? Don't know much about. Think he's a projected late, late R1-early R2.

Steven Smith. Seems like another tweener, but intriguing.

Good to see they've worked out some good swingmen, even if it's pretty unlikely we draft one (right now). Would love to see Bobby Jones and David Noel work-out for us, I like them both a lot, even if another swingmen. Also, good to see they've worked out Nicholson. Doubt any of these guys worked out today are on the short-list in the end.

They're probably waiting for the new coach to be named before taking a really close look at the first round prospects.

How come no good players have worked out for us?
Novak's a good shooter, James White is damn good, Diaz is good, Fazekas is good, Ager's great, Hassan Adams is good, Nicholson seems good but I'm not sure.

Most not what we're looking for, but it answers your question ;). Unless you mean top, lottery pick players.

James Augastine is a very good player, he is also a good passer for his height. I live in Illinois so i got to see him play, him and Dee brown were major factors for their appearance in the finals a year ago. I would'nt mind seeing him or Pittsnoggle on the kings.

what about mardy collins from temple? a 6'6 220lb point guard? sounds like fun.... not a great shooter but a crafty player which is nice...

Top players won't work out with us because we're not in position to draft them. Also, working out too much can hurt a guy’s draft position, if they're already projected to be a high pick.

The Kevin Martin situation was due to him coming from a smaller, lesser known school. In that type of environment, unless you take your team far, you won't get much recognition.

Novak is not a bigman: his body is more similar to Peja and Hedo than Padgett or Bonner.

Pittsnogle? The only good thing about him is when he makes three-pointer fans of his team can say "You've just been pittsnogled!" :)

Despite a good situation with swingmen Kings should take a look at guys like David Noel and Corey Belser who will go undrafted: versatile excellent defenders who can be efficient on offense are always nice assets.

I'm not so sure about James White: he is fantastic athlete who can shoot which equals to "workout warrior". Though it would be great if he finds his way into the middle of the first round and one more good player will be available for Kings.

It seems like he's falling and may be available when Kings are drafting. His similarity with Reece Gaines may scare many teams.

I fully agree about Noel, who is also much more than just a defender too. Don't know Belser, what's he like? I would add Bobby Jones to that group, he's good, just not as much on offense as Noel.

I wonder how much the workouts are really a smoke screen :)

In the past 3-4 years have Kings ever worked out a guy they drafted in the first round?? maybe but I can't remember. Did they work out Cisco or Kevin??

Petrie is a master, a chess playing master in so far as NBA talent. So he will not tip his hand yet.

So what is it Kings really need? Outside scoring (Monia??), inside defending and rebounding. Bonzi will likely give us 10+ per game. But who is going to keep layup drills from happening and get 8-10 reb per game and do some shot blocking?

And we desparately need a true PG. Personally, I think Ronnie Price can back up and do that and maybe get a shot at starting......... if Bibby is not there.

Brad was OK when CWebb was here but as the only big, he is more the problem than solution.

Is SAR heir apparent at the 5? Sure isn't Jamal Sampson. or Vitaly.

More than a big we need a defender, a shot blocker, a YOGI!!! as in Yogi Stewart.

Did they work out Cisco or Kevin??
Yes both:
Kevin Martin
Francisco Garcia

This is a list of most important draftees from Bee:
Among the masses: Nevada junior forward Nick Fazekas (6-11, 230 pounds), Stanford senior forward Matt Haryasz (6-10, 230), Notre Dame senior guard Chris Quinn (6-1, 190), Denver senior center Yemi Nicholson (6-10, 240), Connecticut senior forward Hilton Armstrong (6-11, 235), Tennessee senior guard C.J. Watson (6-0, 190), Louisville senior guard Taquan Dean (6-3, 185), UCLA sophomore guard Jordan Farmar (6-2, 170), Illinois senior guard Dee Brown (6-0, 185), and Gonzaga senior J.P. Batista (6-8, 240).
I see only bigmen and PGs.

Dean/Farmar/Armstrong/Nicholson/Watson/Brown/Fazekas I know are good. Only ones who'd fit our needs are Dean/Armstrong/Nicholson/Fazekas. Could only see us drafting Armstrong at #19 though, since there'd be better than the others around 19.

Being less than 15 minutes away from campus, I got a good look at Fazekas. He is a good player on offense, but lacks strength inside. He would be a liability on defense. The reason he got recognition was because he was the best player in the wac. Also because he can score easily. He had like 35 against Kansas at Kansas. I think if he came back to UNR he would be a much better player.

As I understand all Fazekas really can improve on is his strength. Then he should go to NBA: a couple of months with a strength coach in NBA is worth a year in college.
BTW I read his interview where he said the main thing he will work all these weeks before draft is once again his strength so we will find out how much he is improved after the results of athletic tests in Orlando will leak into the press.

We already have martin/garcia/monia as young swingmen, two of them would have to go for him to do anything in Sac.

Lot of intriguing swingmen in the draft, but we already have 3 young ones, plus Ron and possibly Bonzi.

2nd round material is harder to quantify w/o seeing them first hand. Lakers have worked out nearly every one of those players already. Some teams also look for rough gems at that level if they're gonna bother keeping their 2nd round pick(s).
