After an expected woss against the professional team from Salt Lake City, Sacramento's Monty Python Group drooped to 2-5 for the season which is a .500 record after the 3 scheduling lins. Kings are 0-4 on the road and if they lose tonight they will be 0-8 on the road before they get a realistic chance to get a lin. Both of the Kings wosses came against team with combined record of 0-12 and yet both of those teams are in way better shape overall. They are losing by design and the fact that hey managed to lose to us is a proof that they are doing excellent job. And they will be rewarded.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have 8 games left in November. 5 at home and 3 on the road. We play in Minnesota tomorrow night and then we have Knicks and Pistons at home followed by the back to back home and away vs. Suns before going to Portland. Final 2 games we have at home against the Spurs and the Warriors. You look at this and You realize that the schedule isn't too brutal for a veteran team like ours who is trying to win and get in the post season. Minnesota doesn't want to win. Knicks sux. Pistons are not consistent yet. Back to back games against the same team are usually split. Blazers didn't lose at home yet but they are young and unstable. Spurs are too good but Warriors are struggling. All in all pretty decent chances to do mediocre and keep false hopes alive. In the mean time the Wolves and the Sonics of the NBA are pulling away and setting the tone for their much brighter looking future.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
And make no mistake about it - right now we are a veteran team - a crappy one - but nevertheless still a veteran team that will try everything it can to reach the playoffs. Most of us knows that it won't happen but they don't. And - no we are not rebuilding - we are just sucking. A rebuilding team doesn't sign Moore for 17 million $ or something like that. You take Martin, Hawes, Garcia and Douby out of the mix and our average suddenly gets way up there. If all of our players were healthy - Only Kevin would gave "guaranteed" playing time. When healthy - we can easily win 30-35 which is not enough for the post season but it is just enough to deny us a good draft pick. All of this makes us unique because - there isn't another team like this in the NBA.

Watching the Kings game lats night - I couldn't help myself thinking about the Wizard of Oz mostly because Mikki, SAR and Kenny fit the profiles of the characters. This morning I was following up on this and things got interesting with a potential for an interesting story. I am not a good storyteller but I know for a fact that we have some really good ones in this community. So I am providing the dots and someone might connect them or not.

OZ - Kings
Wizard - GP
Wicked Witch of the West - whoever isn't giving us a new arena
Glinda the Good Witch - Kingsfans
Dorothy - Kevin Martin
Toto - every young player on the roster
Scarecrow - Mikki
Tinman - SAR
the Lion - Kenny
Yellow brick road - rebuilding process
Emerald City - post season
Tornado - Webber Trade
Kansas - NBA championship.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have 5 wosses and in each of them - the game was over in the first quarter. The rest of the games was just garbage time in which we were doing hair and makeup to the final score. Those games provided our opponents the opportunity to rest some players and develop young players of their own. Maybe it is time to charge just one quarter of the ticket price. Or we introduce the rule in which Kings start the game being down 20 - 0. Maybe then we will play relaxed and put a better effort. It isn't anything that shouldn't have been expected. because our starters (shorthanded) vs anyone else's starters = slaughter. Now when opponent is up 20 and the bench is in we can play them even or even dominate for stretches. Not sure that we can change that much.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer Hawes is looking good compared to other big man that we have and he should get major minutes one he is in shape to actually play them. He can be solid player one day but not any time soon. Still this is the perfect season for him to make all the rookie mistakes, to be inconsistent and in foul trouble. There is just no reason to build him up slowly once he is in the physical shape. Let him start, let him go against the best and learn, be willing to pay the price now. We can afford it and there is just no excuse - not to do it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jazz were too good last night. For us the game was the carbon copy of our 4 previous losses.3 major contributors were perimeter players, Fantastic trio shot 2-10 for 5 points 16 rebounds 7 assists and 3 turnovers in combined 65 minutes. With Mikki on the floor we were -28. 16 assists to 18 turnovers, -9 rebounding etc... It is impressive how bad we actually are.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
TDM went to Jason Hart not because of his performance but because that in this game he did more than he did in one and half season as a King. Stat-wise Giricek would get it.
LW-VC award went to Okur who sucked and was only Jazz player with -2 in +/- column
JHA went to Mikki Moore who was just horrible beyond numbers and it is time for us to do a fund raiser to buy him a new pair of hands.
SAR-Methuselah award went to SAR who one again impressed with absolutely nothing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow we play Wolves who just suck beyond words and we are in danger of another lin here just because Wolves need a woss too and they are just better at it.We also get the "O.J. lite" back which makes this totally unpredictable. Hopefully, we will see more of Hawes and less of the "Trio Fantastico." i expect Wolves to dominate the first half but then we will come back and secure the lin in the last minute.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - maybe he needs to wear a name tag so his team mates can recognize him
Cisco - same old Cisco
Salmons - will see how he adjust
Ron - lucky us
Brad - I hope he can play
trio fantastico - sucky award clean up crew.
Beno - a top traveling agent on this team
Hawes - prety good so far
Douby - hope he still gets to play

Coach T - make sure those couple kids keep getting minutes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wolwes are 0-5 on their way to 20 wins season and a great draft pick. They are really bad but they are unlike us - rebuilding. They have a team the can be called TDM-allstars which makes the pick for the award winner - hard. I will go with Brewer for tonight. Walker might not play but if he does - he will win the LW-VC award. If he doesn't play - it ill go to Telfair. Other awards are mainly reserved for trio fantastico. nfortunately it looks like a lin.

A solution for Moore

Hey Piksi,

Love your game threads.

I have something for you from a post of mine in another thread, if you wish to use it in this thread, to wit:

A solution for Moore: pine tar.

Put it on his hands--this ought to help with his grabbing the ball. Never mind the shots, as the ball would never leave his hands, so he's going to have to stand there like the Statue of Liberty and wait for a King player to run by him as Moore hands off the ball like a football QB handing off to a RB.

i say we are 3-5 after this game. go ahead and start spencer. feed him in the post and let him get into game shape. if we want him to develop quicker we're gona have to give him the minutes now.

As usual, well done.

One note - you keep switching your lins and wosses around.

Lin - loss that's a win in the lottery race

Woss - win that's a loss in the lottery race

Please make a note of it. ;)

it is getting very complicated to keep track of all abbreviation that I am using these days

Haha...ha...er....what?

Some time ago Slim confessed that he frequents ClutchCity (Rockets fan site) and that there is a dude there under nickname "tinman" who thinks that KT is great.

I remembered this information because:
a) I couldn't believe anyone would ever seriously think of KT in those terms, and...
b) I have serious problems preventing me from filtering out such useless info...

cisco/beno
martin/douby
salmons
artest/spencer
miller

not bad. we improve our defense. we wont miss any rebounding. thats for sure. beno and spencer must get alot of minutes.

8 man rotation is fine by me. how many chances will theus give moore and thomas before they rot on the bench the rest of the season? they cant do ANYTHING.

you gotta figure we cant get any worse rebounding, so you might as well throw one of the toughest players in the league out there to try and shake things up

would have been better if we had moved Artest to the 4 while starting Salmons at the 3 with Cisco coming off the bench. It provides more balance and i think Salmons has earned that starting role and might as well try Artest at the 4 can't be as bad as what we are getting with Moore and KT.

i dont like that kmart has only gotten like 4 minutes in the first quarter...hopefully he plays him more the rest of the half
