Kings @ Wolves Game Thread

Oh, I remember those years all too well. I have to say this, though...Eric Musselman is looking more and more like the new version of Garry St. Jean with every passing day. With that 'Positive Mental Attitude', and the same mediocre/losing record.

St Jean wasn't as bad a coach as everyone seems to remember. Wasn't great, but wasn't abysmal. He frankly didn't have that much to work with...

now St Jean as a GM.....? That is the suck that legends are made of. His suckitude in the GM department moved mountains and parted seas. Someday there will be whole chapters in the actual book of suck dedicated just to his days as GM.

but St Jean as a coach....? <shrugs> adequate. got his teams about as far as you should expect the talent to carry them. His second best player was usually Olden farkin Polynese, for crypes sake.

So now that you have figured out how much it costs for a WCF trip or a playoff trip, you just have to find out how much it takes to win that ring ;)

I keep on asking Dwayne for the "black book", but he won't share.

(Shaq must've won it in the Kobe divorce settlement)

I have to agree that calling the Kings "Sucks" is over the edge, IMHO. We might not be happy with their performance and we might actually be hoping it continues long enough to garner that coveted lottery pick, but they're still the Kings. I've rooted from them since the very beginning and I'll continue to do so.

It really bothers me to see that kind of thing because I like to think our members are a bit above the norm. The nickname is demeaning and it sets a tone that, again IMHO, brings the board down to a level I don't think we want to sink to...
At least Piksi didn't call them the old standby - the dreaded Q-word.

Sucks vs. Wolves

Been out of town without computer available. I am embarrased for those who call the Kings "Sucks". Guess who I think sucks now--you're right--those of you who can't come up with better words to vent your feelings. Everyone is disappointed with this season, but come on, this is our team and a lot of us are still "KINGS" fans. Annie.:)

i actually laughed out loud when i read the title of this thread. i thought it was brilliant.

i do feel only piksi could pull it off ;)

FYI - I changed the name of the thread. In visiting other message boards, Kingsfans.com is getting a very bad rap for calling our own team the "Sucks"... I don't think that's the message we want to send, and I made a decision for the good of all of us here and the good reputation our board has maintained for a long time.

Nice shot by Kevin ftw. Foye really blew it on TWO big plays. Either way it was a shaky win. Blowing that big a lead in the fourth is just like they've been doing all season. Just lucky to get a bucket two. As a side note KG moved into the top 50 in scoring of all time! Congratulations to KG!

So in other words, you've decided to be judge and juror again and alter someone elses thread because you're worried what OTHER boards think? The poster is expressing frustration on the poor play of the Kings and you see fit to censor the thread as you see fit. Not only is this wrong, it will get other boards talking more in the negative then calling them the "dreaded" S-word.

Please...the rules of this board clearly state that blatant player-bashing (or team-bashing in this case) is against the rules of the board. The reason this thread should have been renamed was not so much because of this particular use, but because of the fact that it was continuing the trend of referring to the Kings as the "Sucks" as started in the other thread entitled "Sucks vs. Sucklies". In that case it was original and an obvious attempt at humor....but continuing to call the team that we claim to support the "Sucks" is more than unjustified - it's plain embarassing and a poor reflection on the fan base.

This suck/suck not conversation is pointless, please carry it on in private somewhere else.

I just wanted to comment that Brad showed a lot more game than I've seen from him in awhile, his feet left the floor several times in the first half. And Bibby showed some flashes of defense and some nicely coordinated screens himself. Seems like these guys turn it on and off at will, hard to figure. But I sure enjoy watching them when they decide to play. Definitely not as bad as their record indicates.

Bettors took another bath on this one!

so here we are with the exact same record we had at this time last year. Brad played the best defense i have seen him play ever on KG. The second half they mad adjusments and went with the high low post with him and Blount. Martin, Bibby, and Artest all took their share of horrible shots in the 4th to give the wolves a chance to come back. its obvious when we stop moving the ball our offensive effectiveness drops dramtically. This has happened again and again. I know they all feel like they can make the shot but, they have to look at the numbers as I am sure Muss has compiled them.

Exact same record as last year? Cool. Hopefully they pull off some magic like last year and squeeze into the playoffs. This team has shown they can play with the good teams they just have to find a way to close out the games. Luckily the Wolves seem to give them a little help on this one. I think it would help if they would run some good plays out of time outs consistently. I don't know why K9 would be taking some wild shot the first play out of timeouts. They seem to open quarters very poorly and execute poorly out of timeouts. Hmmmm.... Coaching? Does anyone think that having such bad assistants is job security for Muss right now? Who would be the interm?

It will be interesting to see what they do against the Nuggets on Sat.

Go Kings.

Musselman tried SO hard to lose this one. After Miller and KT did a pretty good job on KG all night he had CORLISS on KG in crunch time, and needless to say KG scored easily when he got the ball. If Randy Foye hadn't tried to be the hero the Kings might well have blown yet another one.

Also, this team is giving some real effort and showing a lot of heart. Kevin Martin is increasingly able to get his own shot. Artest is turning into an offensive superstar. Salmons made yet another clutch defensive play. If we weren't faced with the Oden/Durant draft I might be more excited about all of this.

PS: and fwiw, I thought "sucks" vs. Wolves was very funny -- I appreciate gallows humor when the Kings are not doing very well, it makes rooting for a losing team just a tad more fun.

I called this when the leather ball came back.

Artest is a head case.

Artest figured the new ball sucked, making him think he couldn't shoot anymore.

Then the ball which he had his best success with came back, and poof...Problems solved.
