[Game] Kings @ Wizards - 2/22/12

Smart lucked out. Sometimes we play well despite the coach. he should take IT our for dinner.

I'm sorry but I think you're being totally unfair to Smart. Criticize him when he does wrong but at least be big enough to recognize the good things, too.

I point out the good things he does all the time. Tonight, he lucked out with his substitutions.

And that shot by Cisco is why he's still around. The dagger shot...

I love the body language of the team right now. They've worked hard and I'm very glad to see them earn a W, regardless of who they played.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!

Smart is going to say he went with defense to close it out (Hayes/Cisco over DMC/Evans) .. and while Evans is a better defender in my opinion .. I'm sure Smart also didn't want to mess up the offensive flow adding another ball dominant guard when IT and MT were already rolling.

I wouldn't have done it that way, and I have no problem calling him out when his garbage substitution patterns don't work, but it worked tonight. What can yah do.

He lucked out? Sorry, but we'll just have to agree to disagree because I think he adapted to the game on the court...and it worked. Peace out.

It worked out tonight due to IT's play, but this is a ongoing problem with Smart. He will stick with groups until they force his hand and he is slow to recognize mismatches. You guys watch this team every night, do any of you really feel that Smart does a good job with the rotation?

Garcia was in the game for closing out on shooters (which we didn't really do at all in the first half) and being a pest in general. pretty decent game defensively. offensively, not so much.

i agree with this. he recognized what was happening and decided to stick with it. as nice as it would be to have cousins and reke on the court, i have no objections to how he handled the 4th quarter lineup

It was a good win. Happy for the guys.

Doesn't me[sic] I'll ignore the s*** substitutions by Smart which have plagued him since taking over.

As you like it. Some people are never satisfied. I waiting to see who is the first one to pop up and say this proves we don't need Evans...

The short answer is that I don't think he does a great job, but I also wouldn't call it horrible.

The long answer is that our team doesn't fit. The pieces don't work like a regular team's pieces would work. We have undersized players, over sized players .. no starting caliber SF .. too much money riding the bench (cisco/salmons/hayes) a rookie we don't want to lose completely if he doesn't work out of his slump (Jimmer) and two young guys who should see some minutes at some point (Honeycutt and Whiteside). It is NOT an easy team to manage rotation wise. I think if this team was built with better structure he wouldn't have much of a problem.

I think he made his big power play with Cousins, though. He has smartly joined himself at the hip with Cuz, making it virtually impossible to fire him if he does a decent job (and he has) .. We don't want to pee off and lose Cuz now that he's playing so well. Letting Smart go would irk Cousins big time.

That's completely different and you know it. Reke bashers are Reke bashers, and rarely if ever say anything positive about him. On multiple occasions I've pointed out how great a teacher Smart is and how great he is handling various personalities.

I've also pointed out his poor substitutions(and saw them up close in the Bay Area last year), and am not close to being the only one who has noticed. Guys played well tonight, and I did say it was a good win, did I not? Never satisfied? Please.

Well, I wasn't actually talking about you, specifically. But, my policy is always, if you took offense, you were probably supposed to...

im gonna go ahead and agree with this statement as well. While the team does not have the greatest individual players in the league, we have talent. But instead of having nice neat puzzle pieces that fit together and form something beautiful, we have a couple of the same pieces, we are missing some pieces, and we're kind of cutting up other pieces to make them fit. Bottom line is that some players are gonna have to go. After tonight, i dont even know who the starting line up should be b/c there just doesnt seem to be great chemistry no matter how we arrange the players at this point, which is why im not gonna jump down smarts throat about his line ups just yet. i hope we do something at the trade deadline. i dont know what we should do aside from trying to get a legit sf, but i definitely hope we do something.

If you think I was supposed to take offense to that......as an MOD you really aren't that clear on my post history.....
Well, as I just said, I didn't say it to offend you. I said it to offend the people who would take offense to it. If it didn't offend you, by all means, feel free to move on.

didn't see the game, but is there a reason tyreke only played 25 mins. did he get injured?

In postgame Smart said he was ready to put DMC back in late but that Cuz told him it was ok to "leave Chuck in." Seems coach agreed as Smart said DMC and Evans were BOTH happy to cheer their team mates on who got a lead and were in process of closing it out for the W. Smart says that shows kind of team togetherness (ie, no egos) he wants.
