I said earlier in a guess of WC final standings I thought the Kings would improve by 3 wins, meaning 20 at the end. It's so hard for anyone to climb dramatically in that tough conf but maybe they could get a few more victories than that paltry total. So I'll say a lucky 7 wins over last seasons complete disaster for 24-58 in 2009-10.

i think that we will win at least 33 games this year. even if martin gets hurt this year we will have the fire power to make up for it with evans and mason. which might make us a better team, well our defense would be better... i think we will win a lot more games than last season. i didnt think that it was possible to only win 1 game per month, we should at least win 1 game per week at minimum.... thats still bad but i think its obtainable for this team.

I think right around 30, so I went with 26-30, even though 28-32 is more in line with my best guess.

I was thinking around 24-26 so I went optimistic with 26-30. I think we'll be better, but find it hard to get too much better because of the strength of the Western Conference. Unless someone on our team (other than Martin) wants to flip the switch and become and All Star, then maybe we'll get a few more wins.

So tough to tell because so much of the Kings success depends on the development of youth.

I could see this team winning as much as 28 games and as few as 15 - this team could absolutely collapse or be somewhat competitive.

We just don't have enough talent to get above 30 wins though...

Nevertheless, I'm hoping for some exciting games, solid effort, and a few Top 10-worthy highlights.

...and good luck in the lottery for once.

I can't decide the pessimist in me wants to say 21-25. The optimist in me wants to say 26-30.

(I'll ignore the suicidal me that wants to say 20 or less. ;))

I can't believe that I am the only person so far that actually believes that this team will win more than 30 games this season. I don't think that will make the playoffs but I do think that this team will win more than 1 game per week. That should be their bare minimum...

A 15+ game improvement normally requires a major roster move of some kind, or a returning superstar type player off of injury. We didn't make any major moves other than drafting Tyreke (although having a professional coach should help), so if you want to get up in the 30s Reke has to turn out to be VERY good in his first year, and given our lack of depth, nobody major can get hurt.

26 to 30. I would be very happy with a 10 game improvement, which would show we are on the way up, plus should still give us a solid draft pick.

40 wins. I honestly think.

The Kings lost so many games by 5 points last year. with a coach I think they will win some of those.

Bad teams do that.

+23 wins would be the largest season to season improvement in franchise history BTW, and likely make us by far the most improved team in the league. Reke better be LeBron. Actually he better be better than LeBron as I don't thnk even LeBron manufactured a +23 in his rookie year (or any year).

I do get the reason for optimism, and expect some level of turnaround/improvement. But +23 is a LOT, especially when you signed no free agents nor made any trades.

OLd article from last year (2008) predicting +/- in wins for that season, just linking to it here because it happened to list the single best +win turnarounds for every franchise: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1147092/index.htm

OPTIMISM!! I like it. I too figure they will win 31-35 games, roughly double what they did last year. The team finally has direction and discipline, which they were sorely lacking last year. I couldn't even watch them play last year, their lack of cohesion and poise was disturbing.

Dwyane Wade improved his team by 30 wins last season....

Cool. Let's sign him, and we are set.
I'd have traded all 5 starters last year for DWade.

Oh and on a side note, I was responding to your eternal pessimism by noting that it CAN happen, and it sure was recently that it did, eh boss?

It can happen if you have Dwayne Wade.

And I have been proven an eternal optimist in these things -- as I have noted before it is 4 years running now that I have overestimated our win totals in these threads, even going so far as to harangue John Hollinger for saying we would only get 23 last year. One injury and it will be no different this year.

I think the biggest NBA turn around occurred with the Celtics a couple of years ago.

'Reke + May = Garnett + Allen

I like our chances at the 39 game turn around.

I want to believe that Udrih will have a bounce-back season, and Evans will score 15 points a game without reducing Martin's ppg to under 20.

But Hawes' health is the key this season. Will he be healthy and fit enough to hustle on the defensive glass.

If we can increase our win total by about 12 games, then I'll be a happy camper.

I think its possible. We added a good player ( Evans ) and Martin is healthy ( for how long? ) .. better coach, better chemistry ( no salmons / Miller ). I'd be happy with 28 wins, thats my guess... of course, this is all if we stay healthy =]

I am going to be the optimist this year and go with 32. Maybe we'll win some of those 1 pt games that we lost last year. The coach should give us a few wins. Hunger from the young guys should give us some. Better overall team health. Yep, we can pick up 15 wins. :D
