Kings win Summer League!

You're a poopy-head party-pooper. I wasn't going to order a shirt but now I may order 2. :p

I may never get a chance to enjoy something from the beginning again and I'm gonna cherish every second. Besides, as you said, the Kings didn't print up these shirt - the NBA did. I think we can have some fun with them. I've spent most of my life not giving a rat's arse about what "everyone thinks" and I'm not going to start now. Fans should be able to have fun.

I certainly think they could be worn in fun...for instance if the KF crew showed up to SL next year all wearing them, that's fun and in the spirit.

But in the Sacramento Kings eternal battle for respect printing up and pimping Summer League Champion T-shirts would be several degrees more mocked than merely raising Division Champion banners. The Spurs could do it. We can't. Not until we've started winning real games again, playoff games, and this sort of thing is seen as ironic. Right now everybody thinks we're losers who don't get it. So proudly stomping around in an SL champions T-Shirt would just play into that.

i might agree if i thought more than a handful of people out there gave a sh** about who "won" summer league. everybody saw the things they wanted to see in orlando and las vegas; the "winner" of summer league is incidental to the first glimpse of the rookie class...

Perhaps summer league championships are a lot like college degrees...the only people who devalue them are the ones that never earned them. Those guys won one game last summer, busted their butts during the off season, worked hard, and had success. Celebrate!!!

Mizzou King

They had fun and there isn't a damned thing wrong with that. If you think it's silly and dumb, fine. Ignore it. And you know what? I couldn't possibly care less about "our image" and whether you and others think we're a laughing stock. This young team is just learning what it feels like to win. More power to them.

You know what's silly and dumb? Getting your panties in a bunch over some KIDS celebrating a win that nobody thought they'd achieve. After all the doom and gloom and somber atmosphere that's surrounded this team for close to a decade, I'm very happy to see the change.

All 100 years?

Wait, what? Nobody thought they'd win? Did you pull that out of your back side? It's summer league. Teams are filled with draft picks, benchers and guys who will never step foot on an nba court. We actually had real rotation guys on the roster. Doesn't seem like that much of an accomplishment to me. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm happy they won. I just don't approve of the organization promoting and selling t-shirts to celebrate a summer league championship.

Because the Kings know that with the poor moves that have been made this summer by PDA, this is the only bright thing that the Kings fans have to look forward to this season. :)

You are actually defending such nonsense? The Kings are already a laughing stock, stuff like that doesn't help our image. We also had a locker room celebration that probably rivaled what the Spurs just did in June. It's silly and dumb.
Warriors did the same thing last summer.

I don't know what his point was but the Warriors are a very competent team.
The point seemed fairly straightforward to me: est. 1999 complained joked (or so he says) about the Kings "selling" t-shirts for winning the summer league. It was pointed out to him that the shirts were made by the NBA, not the Kings, and that they would have been sold regardless of who won. So then he changes tactics and says, "Well, no other team would have celebrated winning the summer league." It was pointed out that that wasn't true, either, that Golden State did it , just last year, and he came back with, "So what? They suck, too!"

It's like he keeps moving the goalposts to justify his world view. I get the sense that there's absolutely nothing that we could have done with the trophy, short of chucking it in the garbage on live television, that he would have been happy with. Like, how dare we be happy about winning something that doesn't mean anything? How dare those kids celebrate their hard work paying off?

Well you gotta admit that would have made a statement. :p

Then Vivek could have ripped off his shirt, got his face right up in the camera and while jabbing his finger snarl "we're coming for YOU NBA!! ALL of you!!!" before backing off to flex and growl.

Then Vivek turns around and we see this:

I hope that, after you submitted this post, you did a fist-pump to yourself and went to sleep happy.

I wish they'd just lost to save us all this trouble of having to be happy.
No one is against you being happy! What is wrong with everyone on here? Are your lives full of so much depression that the minute someone has an issue with unnecessary celebrations, it's all about that person trying to rip away your happiness?

You expressed an opinion. It has proven to be generally unpopular and you have taken heat for defending it. Welcome to the internet.

I was being sarcastic. I'm not loosing any sleep over people's opinion on SL.

Uh huh.

i'm not sure how exactly one contains the celebration of a championship victory, no matter how slight it may be in the big picture of nba basketball. what are ya gonna do, tell those kids not to be happy about winning the nba summer league championship? tell them to modulate their enthusiasm for winning? i mean, most of those guys won't even make an nba roster; for them, this is as close to nba glory as they will get. and for roster locks like nik stauskas, ray mccallum, and ben mclemore, it's a taste of victory that they will hopefully use as motivation heading into the regular season...

I don't think it's our lives that need examination. Perhaps you should consider why it's so important to you that no one celebrate something unnecessarily. Just sayin'...

Celebration is never necessary but it is usually fun. Loosen up, have some fun.

Give up pshn80. He apparently has hard and fast rules about when celebration is necessary AND permissible.

Hi. My name is VF21. I'm an unnecessary celebrator. :D

What's your point? The Warriors are another incompetent franchise, regardless what they've done the last couple of years.
The point sir is that you are wrong. Another team, a winning team, also celebrated. And you know what? The team that wins next year will as well. You don't have to like it.

If I complete an endeavor that ends with me getting a trophy, I'm going to celebrate in whatever fashion I feel.
