Let's let the market determine his value. We don't want to overpay for him based on his most recent post. The stats show that the website is much smarter when he doesn't post.

Gary is a restricted FA can we do a S&T?

They'd never do that. Can we throw in Kingster? He posts a lot (gets to the rim) but his lack of improvement in making coherent/sensible arguments (shooting ability) will never be up there with the likes of Padrino and Brick (Kobe and LeBron). :p

One less suitor for Tyreke...

That would put the Spurs a little over 50M so only 7M or so left of cap space.

19 playoff games: 6.1pts 3.1reb.

Golly gee, would I rather have Splitter for $45mil or Reke for $44mil?

Hmm...choices, choices...

Also, kindly just call Boogie in and give him his max already. It just is what it is, as you can see.

If we're comparing a guard and a center, we might as well compare their regular season per-36:

Code:
Rk Player Season Age G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS
1 Tyreke Evans 2012-13 23 65 61 2016 6.5 13.7 .478 0.8 2.4 .338 3.7 4.8 .775 1.0 4.1 5.1 4.1 1.6 0.5 2.3 2.4 17.6
2 Tiago Splitter 2012-13 28 81 58 1997 5.7 10.1 .560 0.0 0.0 .000 3.7 5.1 .730 2.6 6.7 9.3 2.3 1.1 1.2 1.8 2.9 15.1

Well when you look at the model of consistency of he Spurs, I think they have earned the right to do whatever they want no questions asked.

Just trying to make a funny. Y'all started it! :)

It's all in good fun, unless y'all were serious.. Then I would be maaaad.

I believe the post really had little to do with questioning the Spurs. Reke for 44Mil, one million less then Splitter. Yes, please.

Why are you guys ignoring that Tyreke's contract is for 4 years, whereas splitter is for 45/5 or 36/4

Splitter is seemingly overpaid, but throwing the numbers out without context just makes us look like idiotic fans.

Gary we can't see to get any takers in a trade. We are going to ask you to do whats best for the team and retire. :)
Gary won't retire, he's just not a team player as evidenced by his refusal to see a psychiatrist for his obvious emotional problems. :p

Also, he beats up kittens.

Going online now: Sources say Kings have made Andre Iguodala their free-agent priority, pushing Tyreke Evans closer & closer to New Orleans

Tyreke Evans hasn't committed to signing an offer sheet with the New Orleans Pelicans. That decision could come in the next 24 hours.

Evans has a four-year, $44 million offer from New Orleans. Sources familiar with negotiations said Evans could verbally accept the deal as early as tomorrow if he doesn't receive an offer from the Kings that tops the New Orleans offer.

An annual average salary of $12 million would be needed for Evans to reconsider accepting the Pelicans' offer.

Sources said the Kings expected any offer for Evans would be in the range of $9 million annually.

Because Evans is a restricted free agent, the Kings would have three days to match the offer once signed on July 10 when the moratorium on deals is over for the NBA.

It's still uncertain if the Kings would match the offer.

If true, it means Vivek/PDA probably value Reke at 9M per, which I'd say is undervaluing him by a couple million. But, I really don't understand valuing Reke at 9M per, since that's the type of offers they expected, then turning around and valuing Iggy at a max level. That is a mistake IMO. Two years from now an even bigger mistake IMO.

Calderon/McLemore/Iguodala/Thompson/Cousins sounds like exactly the type of team to be fighting for the 8th playoff seed year after year and languish in mediocrity.

Evans is 23. There's every reason to think he'll improve in every year of his four year deal. With Iguodala you just have to hope he doesn't decline.

The two of them together (with BMac & DMC) could be special. But trading Tyreke for AI (and maxing him out) would be a slight upgrade now while sacrificing potential and youth.

Um...that doesn't make any sense. Why would we give him a contract with an average of $12mil a year when we could just match the contract at $11mil a year?

I'm actually less concerned than some by that blog because it appears to show a shaky grasp of the economics here.

Yep I agree.

It could be that they are perfectly willing to match an $11m/year contract...and are playing it coy making it seem as if they won't match in the hopes that he does sign an offer sheet at $11m rather than seeing that price tag increase.

And who knows...NO isn't in the best of situations salary wise...what if they only offer him 10.5m or something?

Let him sign an offer sheet if he has to...and if it is 11m or less then match. It's not ideal for him to sign an offer and we match...but at this point...I just want him on this team next year alongside DMC and B-Mac.

I don't buy it. You simply do not schedule a late night meeting, that includes ownership with a hotly pursued FA just to blow smoke up his butt. They left the meeting saying they wanted Evans back. So I am guessing Reek was given assurances, BECAUSE they planed to aggressively peruse Iggy today and they did NOT want him to bolt. BOTH players can be had but only if the owners are careful about how they time and structure the deals. Salomons will have to be amnestied and some cap space cleared but I would find it odd if PDA and Randive would waste time either BSing Tyreke or chasing AI if they did not think they can land Iggy and keep Evans.
