Kings waive TD

There was no chance he was going to break camp.

The question here is whether this is:
A) Opening up a roster spot or clearing a tiny bit of salary for an upcoming trade
B) Dumping a possible salary-match piece because no trades will happen
C) Dumping a possible salary-match piece because the trades that are lined up don't need this piece
D) Doing a dude a favor because somebody else is legitimately interested in his coming to camp

I’m guessing D

I loved TD’s fight, but he is a known quantity, with quite frankly, a ceiling that hovers at deep bench player in NBA or starter in G league. The only way for the Kings to move forward at this point is to try to prospect as much raw talent as possible to see who might be a bargain moving forward. They’re frankly is too much salary tied up in guys that they can’t move or don’t want to move on from. I’d like to see the remaining roster filled out with young undrafted players or euro players trying to break into the league to see what might emerge.

Good thought, but there is only one available roster slot. Here is an article with three possibilities, one of whom is a known power forward, Precious Achiuwa. At only 25 years old, he is probably a better defender than Drew Eubanks:

Yeah, I get that if nothing changes that’s what we’re at. I’m still hopeful. Some trade can be made that will open roster spots because I sort of see this year as unless the team can use it for building. I just don’t think the pieces we’ve got work well together as last season seemed to illustrate.

Something will happen. At least something minor. Expect Kessler Edwards level not starter type, unfortunately.
