I'd rather see Keegan at the 2 before the 5.. we don't need him to start developing big-man skills. Make him develop as an elite wing please....
I don’t think it’s part of master plan or anything, he just mentioned he could playing there on occasion in the future. It would have to be the right matchup. He also said in that same interview ( if you didn’t see it) that they he already has played the 2 and that they have confidence in his positional versatility.

it was also good to hear Keegan say that he wants to truly be able to guard all those wings and guards ( he used Herb Jones as an example). He admitted he wasn’t there yet but that’s the vision.

also cool that he took inspiration from how his brother crashes the glass for Portland. Student of the game

It was a good win, but these Raptors are a GLeague team lol. They've got 3* out of 5 starters out due to injury. Barnes, Quickley, Brown, and Olynyk. Makes the first loss even more painful
to be fair to them they have played almost everyone super hard and close. Poeltl is a top 5 defensive center or close and all their role players are gritty. They are kinda like the Rockets of last year imo

does anyone know if Orlando Robinson is a lob threat? It would be nice if we could occasionally play Monk with a better roll option than Len for easy buckets. That’s the one thing that Javale gave us that’s missing. I’m not advocating for his return by the way

Watched a couple highlights, and he doesn't look like much of a lob threat. Here's this GLeague game where you see him in a lot of PnR action, and he relies a bit on finesse and touch

Uh, their entire starting 5 was lotto picks. We should be better and we 100% should win, but that's being disingenuous to say it's a G league lineup.

Probably an exaggeration on my part, but I didn't target their lineup, I targeted their team lol. Walter, Shead, Mogbo, and Battle are all getting rotation minutes as rookies. If it weren't due to their injuries, none of those 4 would see NBA minutes right now. Just imagine if we had to give minutes to Colby, Isaac, Crawford, and Robinson.. probably would not look great.

Hall of Famer
For some reason, I've been paying more attention to the stats this season. Anyway today's impressive stat:
  • Kings FTM 28 FT% 87.5
  • Raptors FTM 11 FT% 73.3
Lesson: getting to the FT line could make a huge difference.
the less made threes overall could kind of help negate it if the free throw trips continue throughout all 82

DDR is the key here. Love Fox but he's streaky and inconsistent. DDR is just that calming presence that can go and get a bucket when it's needed. No one else on the team can do that nearly as consistently as he can.

Keon's defense is a huge key as well. Brown is not going to be able to hold him back for very much longer. His metrics show that he is the best roleplayer on the team and really needs to either be playing more minutes or starting.

He’s exactly what this team needed to get the right balance on offense. He’s your go-to scorer that often makes the right decision and doesn’t turn the ball over at a high volume. Our offense would go on long dry spells when we go cold from 3, and now you can feed Deebo the ball and get an “easy” midi or 2 FTs. I can’t say enough about him, just how he can stay durable throughout the season given he did all the heavy lifting for the Bulls the last few years

DeRozan also benefits greatly from getting the benefit of the doubt on calls that Fox and Sabonis should have been getting the past two years but haven't. And foreknowledge of that information can't help but have a positive impact on your decision-making skills in crunch time: a lot easier to make the "right" decision when you don't have to second-guess whether you're going to get the whistle or not.

Which begs the question, which came first: the decision-making, or the calls?

Don't know because I didn't watch many Toronto games early in his career, but looking at his career numbers his FTA took a big jump in his first All-Star season (roughly from 5 to 8 FTA) while his PPG jumped from 18.1 to 22.7 - so my WAG on this is he just earned the respect of the refs.

Which maybe gives Kings fans some hope that Fox and Domas can do the same?

Raptors went from 34-48 the previous season to 48-34 that year. Not unlike the year two years ago, which is also interesting just because Fox and Domas made All Star appearances, and DDR's play so far has made it apparent why maybe they don't get the national attention Kings fans feel they deserve. Even at 35 he brings a star energy and presence we just haven't had in over 20 years.

Agree, but I think Deebo has developed a skill and craftiness in generating those calls. Lots of feints, spin moves, getting his defender out of position where the refs can’t swallow their whistles. Not saying Fox and Sabonis haven’t gotten their fair share of calls, but they can learn from Deebo. It’s mostly the stuff that also gets SGA, Brunson, Luka their calls.
