Kings must go at least 5-2 on this upcoming roady but I guess will be happy with 4-3. 6-1 would be a miracle at this point.

And in those games Domas can't be putting up 9 shots. Unless Monte can nab another legit shot muncher to keep defenses honest Domas is going to have to shift with the tide. When the defense decides they are going to make him score, he has to reciprocate. Until then Barnes has to go back to being what he has been in January. He's letting others overtake him in the offense and it's not helping.

We’re missing a lot of personnel to help with defense and physicality. Davion beyond a huge negative on offense is hard to hide and he wasted a few possessions in the 3rd and 4th. Went back to Fox and we started scoring but couldn’t get a stop.

I think the long lockdown streaks against the Cavs and Grizz were promising and a reflection of Mike Brown’s coaching but just getting that situationally for stretches isn’t really enough.

Disappointed that the Kings don't have a better home record. Of the top 10 teams in the West the Kings have the worst home record.
but the best road record for some reason.

I fear a reckoning coming on the road. Teams aren’t usually as good on the road as they are at home…they’re usually worse. Which means the Kings being a mediocre home team makes me nervous for the weeks ahead

I'm not surprised at tonight's result at all. Raptors trying to make the play in and we starting to show that our biggest weakness is teams that are big/can rebound well. Sabonis also played like crap. Whatever game ppan they had on him was working.

We might have caught the Wolves at the wrong time, they’re on a hot stretch with wins over good teams altho home & home series seems very likely to split

Just another demonstration of a pretender vs. contender. The Raptors are more of a threat in the playoffs than the Kings. Heck, the second unit of the Sixers displayed more heart and toughness than the Kings. The offense may be good enough to make the Kings a good regular season team but good luck in the playoffs.

The Raptors are currently struggling to remain in the play-in race in the Eastern conference.

Not every game has to be an indictment or endorsement of a team's direction.

The Raptors are hot garbage. Just like they’re record says they are. They are no threat.

The Kings also won’t be a threat until they learn how to take care of garbage teams like the Raptors (as they did in Toronto earlier this season) AND play some consistent defense.

We keep hearing the same mantra every season. From every coach. They talk about the defense. Over and over.
Yet here we still are. Abysmal on defense. Despite having a defensive oriented head coach.

If Brown can’t coach’em up to play passable defense — who can?

I suspect he will. He’s not new to this. He looked for his offense more in Indiana but they didn’t have the shooters and cutters the Kings have so I’m not surprised that hes been caught in a mode by teams switching it up. There will be cycles of how Domas is played by other teams. There have already been stretches this season where teams challenged Domas to score rather than taking it for granted that he will score if challenged, and he did score. Mostly in the month of December and then came January and teams started doing something else, he lit it up now they are doing something else.

I doubt Domas has been figured out or anything. he’s been the focal point for a few years now. It’s all cycles. He has a lot of the right guys around him so it will be a matter of timing for him. In 3 of these last 4 games he isn’t making quick decisions with the ball and Domas almost always makes quick decisions with the ball. They are just changing the angles. He’ll make the adjustments and the Kings will continue to be a mostly dynamite offensive team because of Domas.

the defense will still suck though and that’s ultimately what the Kings problem is. They won’t be held under 100 on a lot of nights.

Doesn't change what I said. I fully expect the Raptors to make the playoffs.

The Kings have obvious weaknesses that they need to address -- whether they are able to do it organically or from outside help remains to be seen. Make no mistake, the Kings are ahead of schedule in their growth but they got a long way to go.

I mostly agree with your point but the Raptors actually barely hit their season average for PPG tonight. The actual reason the Kings lost tonight was because the offense completely melted down

Well I said I would be happy with 1 of 3 and I am though it would have been the last one I thought. Not a good game, not a good telecast. Sucked all the way around. Time to move on.

Toronto is long all around and defensively on the wing is our weakness. It’s why I hope we don’t get the Clippers in a playoff match up.

The Raptors don't even expect the Raptors to make the playoffs. I get that they're the BBinternet's darlings for having a roster that is 95% just tall swings with extra long arms but Nick Nurse is reportedly on the hot seat, Masai keeps shopping everyone on the roster not named Scottie Barnes, and their only guards are both either going to declare free agency this summer or accept their POs and put this same exact roster into luxury tax hell for the year before they even have a chance to extend OG and Barnes and/or Siakam. There's going to be a rebuild in Toronto sooner rather than later.

I didn't watch the game but just looking at the box scores it appears little contribution from the bench.
Our bench bigs got creamed buy theirs, I just don't see any consistency in this bench. Lyle's, like the rest of them looks great one game then no contribution the next or next few.
Really hoping we see a significant move at the deadline because even if we make the play-offs I'd be surprised if we last long.

Kings need to figure out a way to force turnovers.

personally, I think the Kings should be doing several spurts of back court pressure and trapping throughout the game. Not just when they are in comeback mode. I’m thinking when they are up 3 in the second quarter they need to try a 2-3 minute stretch where they are doing traps and attacking passing lanes.

They need to gamble more. Worst that can happen is the opponent beats the pressure and traps and scores virtually every time down the floor which is what Is happening anyway.

Kings should have way more games like that Memphis game with how high powered the offense is. It only took forcing them into a few mistakes and making a couple of good defensive plays within a few minutes to completely blow them out of the water…that is when the offense becomes overwhelming and it only took a few plays on the defensive end. It didn’t take shutdown defense through the whole period. Teams start getting flustered, trying to get it all back in one shot, and then the offense alone becomes stifling.

This Raptors team have a bunch of ballhoggers and they don't seem to play as team. Just simple run play...attack and pass, attack and pass and using their length. A lot of individual one on one mean they're not a good team because they don't play team ball. It only work if they're making shots which they did.

The Kings just got embarrassed by that hot garbage. They were better in both offense (?!) and defense.

Sabonis had more turnovers in the first half than he usually does in a full game. Where is the response from Fox and others to pick up the slack? Our offense is more versatile that what was shown on the court today.

As for defense, at some point in time we would have to accept that maybe we just don't have that kind of personnel that can play long minutes? I'm OK with strengthening your strengths at this point of the growth curve but they would have to address the defensive end sooner or later.

The Raptors are below expectation this year but they will make the playoffs if their vets aren't shipped off. They are just one game out of the play-ins.

They don't really have a #1 option and are limited in their ceiling and their contract structure doesn't allow for growth. They would have to do a smart rebuild by getting good return for their vets. They are asking for a lot in their trade demands though. The Gobert trade broke the NBA trade market.
