im sorry. F that. Either we’re making the jump to playoff team (not play in) or not. If we have two all stars like we say we do, and I believe we do, then we are a GD playoff team and not a team that looks for excuses to take a loss.
Now if we move on from this and smoke this home stand after this tough loss, that’s progress. What worries me is if we play similar to tonight the rest of the home stand we end up trading wins and losses in which we will quickly find ourselves in the 8-9 seed spot.
Sigh. Just need to vent. Go Kings. Onward and upward.

Yah doesn’t make sense to me. seemed like an apparent adjustment to bring KZ in the 2nd half, just never happened

I'm sorry but can we keep reality in check and stop pushing the goal line? I mean, once again, this is the first season we are even competitive, we didn't get our 20th win last season until late-February. Stop pushing the goal line to "we must perform like we want a ring", like, within half of our first competitive season.
Okpala played a combined sixteen seconds in those two games.

Yeah but it's how Brown is having to use them as a unit is the issue. He's cleary bandaiding the minutes of Fox and Sabonis and that's costs them court time together. That pattern likely isn't going to be an option long term. This team is deep, but not that deep with stars. They don't have that trio of stars every team wants to be able to make up for it.

How did they catch us on a back to back both times while they rested? I mean, this game in particular could have reciprocated and had both teams rested?

They lost a close game that they were in position to take (steal) with under 2 minutes to play, because of poor execution down the stretch.
The FTs were bad but Brown made a mistake telling them to try to go for 2 pts with 16s left......they needed a 3-pt attempt to tie quickly for the chance to get the rebound if missed. Both Fox and Sabonis failed to kick out, which means likely Brown instructed 2 pts.
As well as Fox played last night is close to how poorly he played tonight.
Aside from Murray and Mitchell the defense was Matadors R' Us - some of their most blase I've seen all season reminiscent of the Hornets loss.
Missing the last 2 FTs you can hardly complain as they were the only 2 they missed. The FT performance were nearly flawless. You could tell Sabonis didn't wanna take 'em pausing an extra second or 2 - he looked anxious.

We all know by now that the Kings don't get one of the more favorable schedules. Forget the excuses and play through it. Should they have beat Atlanta in this game, regardless of anything else? Yes I think so.
Staggering Fox and Sabonis is exactly what they should be doing. I don't want a single minutes without one of them on the floor. And with how much both guys have to play, they probably share like 26-28 MPG anyway right now. Fox gets pulled around the 6 minute mark, comes back in around the 2 minute mark when Sabonis gets pulled and then they play together like the last 7-8 minutes of the half. So roughly 13-14 minutes a half?

This loss is depressing, there is no reason for Atlanta to come in here and win because they're probably the worst road team in the entire league. There are a couple things that bother me:
1. Keegan Murray defensive intelligence is bad. Against the Jazz, he almost cost the Kings that game if Jazz has .2 or .3 more seconds to play with. He should never put himself in a guarding position against Lauri in a long full court pass...it's a long pass, therefore the ball stay in the air longer and you should have never allow him to catch it if you stay in front of him.
2. This game again, his defensive guarding position is also bad against Trey Young at the end. You know he's going to drive to the basket and you should anticipate the drive ahead of the time before he even attempted...that's how you play defense. But he is so bad he let the ballhandler dictate the move first....that's why he got beat for layup and foul.
3. Not really one that bother me but I feel bad for Sabonis....there is nobody that feels worst than he is after missing two crucial free throws. And also a bunch of deep inside the paint layups....but it happened. I thought the Kings obviously didn't take advantage of Sabonis inside more often because there isn't really anybody that can guard him in the paint. But the Kings like to choose to pass around and pass around in set.
4. When the Kings were down with a few seconds to go...i thought they were in a bit of hurry to try to take the lead back by not executing perfectly. Fox was in a hurry with the set.
This loss suck because Atlanta is not a good team on the road and they're terrible defensive team in my opinion. So even though we beat the Jazz, this loss is giving it right back.
Oh I also want to say that Holmes sucks. I feel bad for the Kings because there is no solid big man to back up Sabonis and so they had to rely on Holmes...but his defense is bad and he doesn't do much to help on the offensive end either.

1 night after winning DPOG against an iso oriented team with a bunch of wings. This seems like a game most perfect for KZ but Brown decided it was the night to see if TD can contribute after sitting the last 5-6 games
Over/Under 5 posters calling for Brown to be fired if we lost to the Pistons like the Warriors did tonight?

Not really trying to make excuse for the kid, because every rookie has to face the same type of bias and unfair whistle coming into this league unless you are a once-in-a-lifetime talent. But there are many many occasions where Keegan really couldn't have done much at all to avoid the savvy vets from drawing fouls on him. I guess he needs to start getting smarter on D, I agree, same as Domas who used to be a foul magnet in the first months of the season.

I also like how "Atlanta at home is never a schedule loss," as if y'all own the Hawks, or something. The Kings are 7-20 in their last 27 games versus the Hawks, including losing the last four in a row.
Well they will have a couple of those teams that shouldn't be able to hang with the Kings 4-6 times this upcoming week. Hopefully we can capitalize on those, but yea they should take it one game at a time.

I'm not arguing against it, I'm saying he's forced into doing that. He's using Fox as a buffer for the bench unit. I brought it up in the other thread, per 48 Monk takes more shots than Sabonis, but ideally that's a starter on your team or someone that at least is going to be in there at the end of the game for you so you can maximize your talent depth rather than eventually finding some of your function offense players that get most of their baskets assisted having to create late. Little things are costing them and if they can't lock down teams, then it without fail will eventually become a shootout at the end.

I’m only pushing the goal line because circumstances have changed. The opportunity is there. It’s not unprecedented. We now have the talent and coach to make a Phoenix of a couple years ago like jump. I didn’t think so to start the season, but after 35+ games and seeing where the rest of the WC is, we can be 5/6 seed.
It's one of the reasons, yes. Somebody who could play tough defense against Atlanta's backcourt probably could have mitigated some of that, but I guess we'll never know.

So in the final play where DJ was allegedly pushing off Fox with his shoulder/off-hand, you can see ref Ashley Moyer-Gleich was behind on the play from having to change direction due to the steal turnover fastbreak. Is there any other refs on the opposite side (Kings side of the rim) that could've seen the push-off? Because just like the Trae Young baiting "phantom foul" on Huerter which we burned our challenge on, she couldn't have seen the push-off from running behind.

Hawks are a playoff team that had a really stupid offseason that made them worse than they were but still a roster really talented on paper.
The Pistons are just bad.
