Not too upset over this loss.. Hawks are a legit playoff team. They are just on a slump and better than their record would indicate and the kings were on a back to back. On to next.. Schedule should get easier.

Gotta say this one is on Brown.

Outside of getting baited into playing small and not realizing he was outmatched by that big G lineup Nate ran with I can't see it tonight. I think he didn't do anything majorly wrong. The reality is he has to start designating someone else as an option in his offense not as a function. Invariably they rely on any of Murray, Huerter, and Barnes at some point late and they are so used to being a function of the offense it just looks janky when they try to create. Barnes is capable but it's hard to put him in a role and then randomly break out of that at some point. For now, Brown has to start putting one of those guys in a position to get their number called as an iso option more so they can carve out a space to do some work on their own. Teams know where the ball is going late and they also can expect that the Kings will have the middle 8 minutes or so between quarters to not have to worry about Fox and Sabonis together.

I mean, this was a schedule loss if there ever was one but the Kings were still in it despite the refs reffing hard and generally looking tired the whole game.
I mean yeah, in isolation, this can be seen as a schedule loss: playing a back-to-back against a team that's hungry for a win. But there were a lot of mental mistakes that cost the Kings this game.

Yeah, the Kings blew like 15 lay-ups, Sabonis can't miss 2 clutch FT's, but I'm so damn sick of having to perform like a 55+ win team in crunch time because we're playing the refs too.

The concern is the lack of really showing any true dominance this season. That's historically a talent issue. They are so close though it hurts. They have to find that next option to take it to the next level.

personally I think we should just stop looking at the schedule. There are probably 4 teams or less in the nba the kings can’t hang with on a nightly basis and only a couple teams that can’t hang with the kings . If we play well we will generally beat most teams and if we don’t we will lose. Atlanta is not a well oiled machine. They hit timely shots tonight and they got calls when they needed them and we had no touch around the rim and blew it in the end. There is still some encouraging things here. Fox showed that he might have another level and Davion is settling in as a defensive ace which is critical to winning games down the stretch.

It's a lame excuse. The Kings lost this game, because of the play, not because they were fatigued

It's not an excuse, it's reality. 2nd night of a B-B where you have to travel and your starters play big minutes is a tough context vs any team. I already posted several times why they lost this game

Fox can’t be getting picked like Ben McLemore going at Kawhi Leonard in crunch time. That can’t happen. I know Murray can pick ‘em but still can’t happen to your stars. Need to get a shot at the end.

Kings defense is straight trash. Atlanta doesn’t have an efficient offensive team. Bad chemistry and just a bunch of guys looking for iso attempts. There should be several stretches in the game where their offense is disrupted but the Kings just couldn’t do it to save their asses…and fitting the game ended how it went all game..Kings missing layups.

11-8 at home is weak. You gotta take care of business at home vs Atlanta. Everybody else has been

I’m confused by our defense as soon as we got up 4 with a minute left. Keegan should not have been out there. He struggled all night against Hunter and the switch, and as soon as Young had a step on him he should have let him go. Then Huerter’s inbound defense was not good. He left a wide open lane to hedge on Young… but why? Way too many mental mistakes. Just an odd game around. We get an 11-2 run followed by Hawks with a 7-0 run

2nd night of a B-B and having to travel home from UTA after all the starters had to play 37+ minutes? Yeah. Tough spot vs any team

And a lot of those heavy minutes tonight came in the second half. HB played 22 of 24 2nd-half minutes. Not well-managed.

Exactly, and even with the Kings faults roster wise the West is a total dogfight.

The Kings top 7 has remained consistently elite all season. The issue is 8-13 on the depth chart has fallen off a cliff and largely become unplayable. And unfortunately, it's had a giant impact on our defense because our back-up wings and back-up C options get bullied over and over on the defensive end. Can't just keep punting those minutes and expect the top 7 to keep trying to make up that ground.
