Man, we really need Cousins back, if we lose the next 3 games (very possible) our moral will probably be done for the season.

I don't agree. His job is to assist others in getting hot

The only player on the court who can get hot is Rudy, but he usually gets the ball after IT anyways.

Man with Cousins out though and having no big body to protect the rim it REALLY shows IT's weakness though. I don't understand how anyone can manage to get around him, you'd think his weakness would be postups. He has alot to learn on defense.

- Sorry internet broke for a minute

I tell you what, you talk about Prince being washed up, but he's the only guy from that 2004 Championship team still playing meaningful minutes in the NBA.

He literally looks the same. He had above average speed and quickness before and it barely looks like it's fallen off. Not sure if he can do it for just as long, though.

Because he quite possibly has the worst defensive effort in the entire NBA. Unless the ball is literally in front of him, IT will generally just drift around like a butterfly in the spring. If the other team sets even the most half-hearted of screens, he'll pretty much give up and let his man do whatever he wants. His lateral quickness on the defensive end is pretty much slower than a dude buried in mud.

Wasn't he one of the youngest guys on that team though?

Ah yes he was only in his 2nd season, second youngest guy on the team after dear rookie Darko.

This does give me hope though. If lateral agility is his weakness on defense than thats a complete contrast to it on offense, so it can be fixed.

IT had a decent game tonight, but the whole team didn't know what defense was.. I guess the good thing is that we held them under 100pts..

But it won't. Barring a brain transplant, IT's pretty going to be all offense, all the time, with all the energy not spent defending his man going towards perfecting the art that is heroball.

I wonder what Thornton is thinking? 1/2 shooting while his PG fired at will.

I barely saw him in the floor. BMac, jimmer and IT got the majority of the minutes, not sure why though. Probably because Memphis is a big team.

This was typical game for IT. He got totally outplayed by his man on D end while masking it with his selfish play on other end. My grade for IT tonight: D (as in start playing some!)

I disagree considering we are just what, like a month into our new roster? Once we get healthy and solidify our offensive gameplan more, IT will be able to get his while not spending so much energy running around defenders.

Knowing him it'll just mean he has more energy to chuck more shots. The guy is a shoot-first,second,third "point guard". Say what you will about his value to the team but it should be pretty darn clear to about everyone that running an offense is not something he takes pride in.

Wait. You think offense is our team's problem? IT not "getting his" isn't really the issue. IT getting too much is.

If IT was committed to even making an attempt at the defensive end, we probably would have seen it by now. Hell, even Marcus Thornton has shown some defensive effort under Malone.

Did we, really? Memphis shot nearly fifty-five percent as a team (EDIT - and scored nearly four points above their season average); it takes a certain kind of... well, let's just call it optimism... to say that we "held" them under a hundred points.
