At a certain point the reality has to come through, this team can't help in almost any way. What little they do well defensively goes out the window. If Vuc is going to go full Shaq, let him. Don't double down on those post ups.

Malik Monk may legitimately be my favorite player. The guy is crazy good off the bench. What a signing.
I was quite high on him in 2017 and then he just sort of disappeared for four years in Charlotte. Why??

Feels like Chicago is right on the verge of erupting into a run here. I hope our defense is up to the task of keeping it in check

I think part of it was that he had a fairly quiet drug-of-abuse suspension that came down right as the 2020 season got shut down. Definitely impacted his role in the league.

oh, so he was quite high too. <rimshot.wav>

but am I wrong that he didn't have much impact and was seen as nothing more than a volume shooter there?

this is the first lead we've had I feel fully in danger of completely melting since the first game (I guess Memphis too but I was sure we'd win that until later in the 4th)

Yeah he was kind of in that Monta Ellis vein where he was a talented "tough shot" maker but had no efficiency, no defense, etc. Very dime a dozen type guard.

He started turning things around though his last year in CHA and put together a good year. Then was outstanding last year with the Lakers. And now looks like he's getting pretty close to his expectation as a lotto pick with us.

Chicago is a much more complete team than their record would indicate. Good defenders, and any team with Levine and De Rosen on it are going to be able to score the ball.

No, but I think he was still getting his rookie legs under him - it was still his age-21 season when the suspension came down.

Another point - he has never, ever shown this level of passing before. He spent his entire career with a consistent 3.3-3.8 assists per 36 until coming to Sac where he has jumped to 6.9. Just completely a different level of play here.
