[Game] Kings versus Pacers, 11/30/10 @ 7PM

I'm not sure the camping is his fault. PW defined the SF role at the beginning of the season as "defend, rebound, make open shots". No driving or trying to create anything on offense. Both Donte and Casspi now camp aimlessly at the 3-point line because that's what Westphal is telling them to do. It's painful to watch, to me it's especially disturbing to see Casspi doing that, because the one thing Casspi had consistently was the fire, energy, and intensity, and it seem like Westphal just neutered the SF position for both Donte and Omri.

Ok, but then both are failures (I don't think it's too stong a word) since neither defends, rebounds or makes open shots - CONSISTENTLY. Maybe it's both Greene's and Casspi's fault - and they're simply not very good NBA players. They have some talent and are good enough to make the league - but not start at SF. Of course, both are still quite young so maybe there's hope down the line, but it's not evident at all this season from each of them. The whole situation at SF for the Kings screams trade IMO but only if it can be made and only if it's Petrie certified smart.

Sorry, I never heard that explanation. That can be extremely painful, and would definitely be a reason to let him rest a little bit.

The problem with plantar fasciitis is it lingers, and lingers, and lingers. Tyreke has said some days are better than others, it's very painful in the morning, and can tightn up at halftime or from sitting too long. I'm not sure if there is an answer, but rather he just has to find a way to play with it. Same thing Doug Christie battled for the 2nd half of an entire season.

It's not an excuse for some of the terrible decisions he's made on the court, but would explain the lack of explosiveness around the rim, and not getting much lift on his jumpers. Just about every jumper he misses is short, and I think that's a direct effect. Also might explain why he plays better in the 1st half lately. Tightening up at halftime?

I"ve myself played with plantar fasciitis, and understand how painful it really can be. But there's no real fix except for extended time off. So the team has to find a way to work around it. Tyreke needs to make better decisions. Seems to me he's hesitating because he's not confident he can explode towards the rim and and get the seperation to finish. Also isn't doing the euro-step, at all, which he probably did 2-3 times a game last year. There has to be a better way of taking advantage of him getting into the lane. Better spacing, more cutters, and using screens better. Defenses still collapse when he drives, and the team needs to find a way to take advantage of that. Either guys doing a better job of slashing from the weakside, or spotting up and finding the openings in the defense. But something has to change. Tyreke can't keep forcing these shots in the paint which have no chance.

The thing is, with the kind of non-system we have been experiencing here, it's hard for any player to be consistent, as evident by the performance of virtually every player on our roster. It will be impossible to evaluate any player's abilities until a coherent system is put in place, either by Westphal (although I doubt it by this point becuase once you've lost the handles on the wheel it can be close to impossible to regain them) or by a new coach. If you trade Omri or Donte, I don't know if they will become all-stars or even legitimate starters, but I can almost guarantee you that their performance will be much better and much more consistent on pretty much any team you put them on.

Omri I agree with you about. But I think Donte has been attacking the paint much more aggressively than he has in the past. He's had a few strong takes, where he had pump faked at the 3pt line and finished strong or drawn a foul, as well as making hard cuts off the ball. I actually think he's the only one who actually cuts off the ball with a purpose.

Beno made you guys look really wrong tonight.

Wow. Are you trolling or what. Annihilator posted that 3 pages ago, which means you read at least that far back in this thread, and that was the only thing you wanted to comment on. No wonder no one respects your opinion.

By the way, he did get burned on that play, as annihilator was reffering to. Beno had a great game on offfense, lights out, and picked up the defense towards the end. But if you didn't see him getting burned frequently and often in the 1st half, you don't have a clue what you're watching.

Nice personal attacks - I'm very used to people substituting them for substantive discussion, though.

You, too, are proving you are remembering things wrong.

I watched & took notes the entire game.
What do you have to back your faulty memory up with?

1st qtr, Beno stopped multiple drives in his few minutes of action (while sinking all his 1st half shots and penetrating the Pacers defense).
At 7:16 in the 2nd qtr, Beno made a small defensive slip - leaving Collison for a useless double-team down low.
Last 2 minutes of 3rd qtr, Beno amazingly stopped penetration on Collison's flying no-call charge.
In 4th qtr, Beno similarly stopped TJ Ford penetration.

Where's your notes, or video clips which show these continual, persistent "burns" you are referring to?

You should know that for every basket scored by Kings opponent is Beno`s fault, even if he is on the bench!
by the way: here is big discussion about Tyreke plantar fasciitis...Beno had the same injury thru the whole last season, but nobody wrote anything about it!

Apparently nobody did write anything about it, I don't remember hearing about Beno having plantar fasciitis last season at all. Of course, last season was easily Beno's best season in the NBA (following easily his worst the year before) so if he in fact had plantar fasciitis, it didn't seem to bother him much. Most people don't play better injured.
