[Game] Kings v TWolves - 7/17 - 1 pm PDT

Either you had some sort of weird cut-and-paste issue with the quote function, or you were trying to do something with my post that I'm not privy to...

I didn't do a thing with your note and as I use a computer, don't have an auto correct. I didn't know what a SwishKing was but was willing to continue the conversation with what made sense. The comment about two SGs was a takeoff from the more familiar comment about QBs.

Watched the game finally....lots of good performances. Ben looked great, penetrated and dished a few times, finished a few tough drives under duress....very nice. Brooks can score, defense is not strong but can score....5th guard?
Liked Ray's game again....needs to stay in control on his drives. Stauskas was solid.

Origami or Oriaki if spell check doesn't take over, not even sure how his name is spelled was interesting, showed some game, didn't like his rebounding though. Like Moreland's mindset and game.

Perhaps not deliberately, but what I typed was:
I see... Well, I don't know SwishKing from Adam, but I hope I don't have to explain to you why that doesn't mean anything to me, boss.
And what the text in the quote box contained in your post said I typed was:
I see... Well, I d.ld stand out heads and shoulders above the otherof. The starter shou't know SwishKing from Adam, but I hope I don't have to explain to you why that doesn't mean anything to me, boss.
If you think you have two starters, you are deluding yourself. A starter should stand out head and shoulders above any other player.
Go back and check, if you don't take my word for it. I have no idea where the part in red came from, but I didn't put it in there.

I don't know either. Although ..................... now that I think of it, with my new keyboard, I will be pecking away at my note and when I look up, the note or phrase seems to have disappeared. I think what is happening is somehow it gets placed somewhere else. I'll pay more attention.

I've actually almost had something similar happen a number of times. It seems on the current site that if you start typing a reply in the box but don't post and move on, your text is still saved in the reply box. Then if you decide later to respond in the thread by quoting another post, it puts the quote in the text you had already drafted before. I'm not sure if that's what happened to Glenn, but it could be the case.

Think about it this way. Duke has great bbiq players and good athletes. Smart guys. They consitently win at the college level. Yet Kentucky produces more quality NBA talent despite not being hi bbiq guys. The reason is they recruit elite athletes.
Maybe only in recent years...duke has turned out quite a few NBA players.

That's not it but I know what you mean. I tend to rest my hand on the left side near the keyboard and sometimes I hit one of the keys. Still don't know how that explains what just happened but I don't think I'll worry about it too much. :D

With our new software, your post sometimes gets segmented around a quote. That's why you'll often see a random letter or two above a quote and then the rest of your reply under the quote.

It's not you. It's the interaction between you and the software and the frequent delays a lot of us here on the West coast seem to have getting our posts to the server. Hope that explains it...

:)

Why must we go there? Ben had a good game and Nik didn't, yet you still take a shot at Ben.

Ben is a freakish athlete, with a smooth jumper. Until he got to the NBA, whenever he stepped on the court, he could easily out athlete people and do what he wanted on the court. So much so, that he was drafted in the lottery in the NBA. Now that Ben is here, all those things he didn't HAVE to do, he is now working on. In other words, he is raw. But all indications are that he's a hard worker and coachable. He's not dumb. He lacks game experience with certain things and that will take time. There are already flashes.

Nik has a different situation. He's had to work on his body and game at an earlier point in his career. He's a very good athlete, but not freakish. So as far as fine tuning his game, he's at a different place. He's not smarter than Ben. He has more in game application of the things Ben is working on right now.

Freakish athletes win titles more often than basketball IQ guys. Whatever bbiq means. That is why big time athletes get drafted so high on potential. NBA execs know you need them to win. Before anyone brings up San Antonio, I would argue that Ginobli is freakish as is Leonard. We don't what Ben's ceiling is, but it would benefit the team for him to reach it, because he's that type of athlete.

We all want Nik to do well, but let's be honest about our observations. When we tear down another player to prop up our favorites, that's weak. So is the excuse that some have made that Nik is tired. Nik will have lots more good games. But making excuses for him when he doesn't. is going polarize the board for sure.

I think the team including Ben and Nik had a very good game. Even in SL winning is the objective of the game. We won. Did anyone not contribute? Let's move to Saturday's game.

Skill can be developed, athleticism can't . Which again is why NBA execs draft super athletes and work to develop their skill set. They don't draft skilled players with high bbiq and work on their athleticism.

Ben can play ball. You don't accidentally score 30 in an NBA game or 20 in summer league.

Interesting. I don't think I agree with your ipso facto. Ben has a year under his belt, his minutes last hurt the team significantly more often than it helped. Let' see if we can get two good young players out of Ben and
Nik.

Thanks, I had wondered whether I had been drinking too much. What a relief!

like every other basketball fan... your suffering from spurs itish........ with these roles and hitting open shots... you need to erase that from your mind.... and potential is what wins... who has been the best player on the west for the last 15 years... kobe... if you open your eyes he is what ben mac was early in his career... the perfect ex. of potential... not sayn he will be kobe.. but thats what wins finding those types of players and pushing them to reach there potential.... nik mayb a fan fav... becuz u knw ( he is white and ppl especially in the Sacramento region love to see those players do well) but he will be average at best... and average doesn't cut it in the nba
This might be the worst post I've read since the calendar hit Jan 1st, 2014.

In reading through this thread(which should have come with a warning, btw) I get the impression it's been so long since we've had a guy who is comfortable not forcing shots and forcing himself into a game, rather than picking and choosing his spots, that some don't know how to react to it.

That the #8 pick who has the ability to force it more 1v1 but is already comfortable taking a back seat and letting the opportunities come as they may, is exactly what this team needs and has sorely missed. We've had so many guards who are only concerned with their numbers and the number of shots they get up, I think it's forgotten on some that a role playing attitude, even if you can do more, is extremely valuable in this league and something the great teams have plenty of. When you add Rudy/Boogie to that, it's even more necessary we have a guy comfortable picking his spots.

We don't need Stauskas coming out with a point to prove and jacking up countless shots to compete for ROY. We need a role player, more an offensive glue guy who makes teams pay for the attention Rudy/Boogie get/draw. Stauskas' ceiling and hopeful future role in this league is a Klay/Parsons 3rd wheel type. He has a different game than those two but that should be the hope, an eventual 3rd option role player who makes his money off the attention the two focal points command. Even if he tops out as more a Reddick type, and he has a better handle than JJ, that type of role player is extremely valuable.

I'd agree with people who say Ben hurt the team if someone could please tell me who should have started in his place from our roster that would have increased our win total. There was no one. If there was, then wouldn't that be the coaching staff hurting the team?

I don't care about WS and +/-. Tell me who should have had Ben's minutes and resulted in more games won.

The two players Nik reminds the most of are Joe Dumars and Jeff Hornacek. Both played important roles on good teams.

You're right there wasn't anyone after Salmons left. But for me it is not about blame it's about his effect on team play. He's better but not enough to start on a team where you care about winning. In my book playing him is OK if we a team developing young unready talent but I hope for better than that this year. Others like the FO and coaching staff may not be there yet. For me we should bring any journeyman we could get to start at SG and develop Ben off the bench. But right now that is not where we are.
