I hope Jimmer gets the heroes welcome he deserves.
Jimmer joining the Suns gives me the opportunity to dredge up some of the amazing Jimmerpocalyse posts from his tenure with the Kings.

From the blindly optimistic:
Of course, this is my truth and may be wrong. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I don't mean to offend anyone.

With this being said, I think Jimmer Fredette is an absolute star in the making. I know you all remember Jason Williams, my favorite player of all time. I was literally suicidal the first time I saw Jason Williams play at Florida, and watching him play ball gave me a reason to live. I'm from Gainesville, FL and I know everything there is to know about Jason. I have supported Jason for 15 years. Point being, you can tell Jason Williams means a lot to me. When I say what i'm about to say, it takes a lot to say it...

I think Jimmer can be twice the player Jason was. Jason was very underrated, mind you. Started on a title winning team. Jason was great at setting the pace, getting the offense into it's set quickly and always going to the hot hand. Jason's presence did not show up in a boxscore most nights. Jason Williams was a damn fine player and a winner.

Onto Jimmer...

Jimmer is bigger. Jimmer is stronger. Jimmer is a better shooter. Jimmer is tougher physically. Jimmer is a much better scorer. Jimmer has everything a great scorer has to possess. Inside. Out. Intermediate. No flaws offensively.

Jimmer is going to be special. Jimmer, IMO, is the best player on your team.

Jimmer Stats close to Kobe Rookie Stats

Hey since everyone on this board thinks Jimmer is terrible I thought I would look at Kobe Bryant's rookie stats. They are pretty close. Kobe has the edge so far, but Jimmer has not been too bad for a rookie.

Jimmer:

Season Team G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
11-12 SAC 10 1 23.8 0.360 0.308 0.889 0.8 0.8 1.6 2.5 0.6 0.0 1.8 1.2 8.4

Kobe:
Year Team G GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
96-97 LAL 71 6 15.5 0.417 0.375 0.819 0.7 1.2 1.9 1.3 0.7 0.3 1.58 1.44 7.6
to the just plain depressing:
My expectations were that we had a guy who could hit his shots and open up the floor with his ability to hit the 3.

He can't even hit a two........
I'm listening to any changes that gets Salmons off the floor.

Even though we're in an infinitely better place now than we were in those Maloof-owned, Keith Smart-coached, Salmons-playing days, I can't help but feel a bit of nostalgia reading about how Donte Greene should be starting or whether or not Jimmer is better than IT.

GO KINGS

Normally yes but there certainly have been exceptions in the past

As you have demonstrated, it wouldn't be the first time. The reason I get annoyed at mentions of Jimmer is that it reminds me of the idiots who were arguing that the only reason he's not a star is because he's being discriminated against because he's white. I think I speak for most Kings fans when I say that nothing about Jimmer is fun.

Kings destroy the suns for 3 quarters then puts in the bench. Suns put in jimmer and he has China league flashbacks and goes all d-russ on us. Too soon?

Hahaha these are great! I'm glad you managed to save these away in a vault or something for times like this.

Kelly Oubre is out for the season, he's been pretty good. TJ Warren is out as well, and, both Tyler Johnson and Josh Jackson are questionable, so the Suns are likely to be VERY thin on depth. I like our chances.

With playoffs long out of sight now, I'm just looking forward to the continued development of our youngsters.

Hopefully Marvin goes off again tonight, pretty sure he ripped up Phoenix the last time we faced them. If he can finish out the season with consistency I'll be a happy man. I'll be even happier if that consistency is something like 20/10 or 22/8.

PHX is down Oubre, Jackson, Johnson and Warren. Jimmer is almost certainly going to play. They didn't sign him to a 2 year contract to sit him. They wanna see what's he's got and decide if they're going to pick up his option for next year.

Is his contract guaranteed next year? Didn't realize they were missing that many players
