[Game] Kings v. Raptors, 2/5/14, 7 PM PST, 10 PM EST

I find it ironic how Grant complains about players complaining and is making a big deal about it, while he doesn't hesitate to shout down callers on his radio show. He's worse than any players are.

Silver is still at the game lol.

And he's seeing just how bad it's gotten with players barking at the officials. Right or wrong, as Grant says, those guys need to do their jobs without being confronted by the players. The league cleaned that up once and it's more than time for them to do so again.

I've said it a million times, refs need to start being fined. They are at an all-time level of awfulness this season. i have seen so many games decided by poor officiating in the final moments this season, not just in Kings games

I agree totally with Grant about complaining out of hand (again) on every stinking call. It's sickening and deflects from enjoyment of the game. Should be allowed to spontaneously react but then stop - no more. The head coach or possibly the team captain should then be only one who can complain (talk to ref) at that point in restrained manner - PERIOD!

Or some form of accountability from the NBA. It's beyond crazy how many calls they miss

Very ironic. Great point. He sets no real example for anyone, let alone his kids. Yet, he expects the players to

I can't believe I'm about to defend Grant, but...

Callers to his radio show are not subject to rules and regulations. NBA players are. Grant shouts down callers and his audience loves it. It's a part of his shtick. Players confronting officials is disruptive and destroys the game. Grant screaming at callers increases his ratings and is fully expected.

Silencing players will never work. Not unless you're going to silence the stars, guys like Lebron, Durant, Melo, CP3, which didn't happen two years ago and won't happen two years from now.

Sorry, I don't want our guys getting T'd up while a guy like CP3 gets away with yelling numerous F-bombs directed at the refs. It wouldn't be even handed. It's something which sounds nice in your living room but has little chance of being implemented fairly in reality.

:: mutters something about the decline of western civilization ::

LOL! Kayte interviewing Rudy, who suddenly smiles and reaches off camera to shake hands with someone. "Had to shake hands with my boss," says Rudy, "as the camera shows a smiling Adam Silver walking towards the tunnel. :)

??? Jimmer is the backup point guard. IT's had a good game and it was time for him to come back in. Had Jimmer been playing lights out like against the Bulls it might have gone differently.

Hmm at the time I made the comment we still had a pretty big lead (17 points or so) so I didn't see a need for IT to come back in. Basically I felt that Cousins and Gay were kinda forcing the offense, resulting in our offense being ineffective, but it was Jimmer who was being taken out.

That's opinion, not fact.

I don't have much of a problem with it with how bad the refs in this league currently are.

I don't feel like this game was destroyed. Do you? Only game I felt was truly destroyed was WCF, game 6, 2002. And that was due to refs, not whining.

I know it's hoping for the impossible, but I would absolutely LOVE to see the little brats get the same treatment for arguing as the mere mortals get.

Of course it's opinion, just as yours is.

Whatever, dude.

For a split second I thought, hmmm, that's kind of rude of Gay to keep looking to his right in the middle of an interview, but then it becomes apparent he was anticipating his boss coming over to shake his hand!

I would've done the same thing!

Grant's a Hypocrite: Story at 11.

Here's the problem with the NBA refs: They've been bad for a long time. They use a lot of crutches to make up for how bad they are. What are these crutches I speak of? I mean the unwritten rules they rely on to get by. These are superstar calls, make-up calls, anticipation fouls, and rookie calls. The general idea that the aggressive team gets the foul calls is inherently flawed, but an accepted part of the NBA game. The calls should be done according to the rules and according to what happens in the play. Nothing else needs to be brought in. However, too much "outside" stuff is brought in. It's at the point where the unwritten rules are more consistently called than the written rules. If the unwritten rules are standard, then how do you maintain the sanctity of the game? You don't. It becomes a mess.

What has heightened the issue is that the players are aware of this. They've been aware of this for awhile. Players trying to manipulate refs has been a part of the game for a long time. (There's a good article on this if I can find it.) The thing is that the players have been refining their manipulation at the same rate the refs have been un-refining their officiating. Players and coaches have learned how to manipulate refs for calls at a higher level than the refs are officiating the game. Things have started to get out of hand. For all Cousins complaints about floppers, he's joined in in on the flopping and selling because he realizes it's a part of winning in the league. Marcus Smart discussed how every player does it in college. The college game is called differently, but every pro prospect understands it's a part of the pro game so they better learn it now. That's how out of hand its gotten and fining the players for flopping won't change this. The problem starts with the refs and the solution must start with the refs.
