[Game] Kings v. Raptors, 2/5/14, 7 PM PST, 10 PM EST

Yelling at officials is like buying popcorn. And face it - after 2002, I think Kings fans have earned a little leeway in complaining about officiating. :)
I want to be clear. I have yelled myself horse at officials more times than I can count. I have been kicked out of games on more than one occasion and probably should have been kicked out several more times. Fans have the right and the obligation to boo. Players are going to complain (they overdo it in my opinion), coaches jobs are on the line and they have an obligation to protect their team and their players. Having said all that I still think they mostly get it right and their job is impossible to do 100% right.

Oh and you guys did get screwed in 2002.

Hold the phone, you are NOT a Kings fan??!!

So I missed most of this one. I notice in the box score Williams got a DNP-CD. Is it fair to assume this is punishment for his failed attempt to showboat?

I don't think you are giving the refs enough credit because of how difficult their jobs are. If you haven't reffed it is difficult to understand how hard it is.

Sure it's difficult. They're still bad at it. I have more issues with NBA games than college ones. The problems remain though. They're impact on the game is too high. Their quality is too low. Their ability to be manipulated is too high and they have the sort of job security everyone would envy. It's a recipe for trouble.

Also, my family often took up officiating as a second job. Even at a young age, I was score-keeping for games in the local leagues or military. The older men officiated. It's a tough, thankless job.

HOWEVER

All of my family had a general dislike for the refs in the NBA. We watched games together. baseball, football, etc. To them, the NBA refs were dirtying the image of the job. To put it bluntly, they thought NBA refs were "horsecrap" and a black mark on the job of being an official. I watched a lot of high school college, rec, and sub-pro players complain on calls in a game that were not worth complaining about. I understand its not a job you do for love and adoration. The problem with NBA refs is they do the job to be noticed. That should never be the goal of an official.

No, strained left foot. Said it swelled on him after the last game.
