At least with Cauley-Stein a big part of it was games missed due to injury and very inconsistent minutes. When he started mid season the Kings had a five game win streak and improved defensive numbers. Then he was back on the bench.

Imagine if he'd been the starter next to Cuz all season. He would have had rough stretches but letting him play through them would have been the best thing long term.
