Okay, here's the deal... apparently piksi has a life. :p He's really busy this week and cannot do the next couple of intros to the game discussion threads.

I'm opening the thread; I'm leaving it to you all to fill in the blanks.

GO KINGS!!!

TDM - Darrel Arthur. He'll make you question why he got bounced around 3 different teams without touching a basketball.
LW-VC - Milicic. Boy is this kid awful.

Can we just start Thompson already? Look at the experiment the Grizzlies are doing. Starting 3 rookies, one 2nd year, and one 3rd year. And they're getting praised for it while staying competitive. Let's go Theus, mix up the roster already. If the starters aren't performing, than stop tossing them out to the bears... grizzly bears... send the kids out. To the Grizzlies. Okay, I'll stop.

I've watched every single minute of all the games so far this season, I will be asking for my second name change to Masochist D. Good news is that the team has as many wins as the Spurs do this season.

This is the first home game of the season. Will the Kings get their first win tonight? The bigger question is, will their be any fans in attendance? Preseason showed an audience that rivaled the New Jersey Nets.

chance time

Power Rankings
29th on ESPN

Playoffs
Chances still remain the same at 0%

High Draft Pick
High

I have no idea how Piksi manages to write so much in these daily updates and I understand why he'd want to take a day off (yes I know he is busy) especially with the way the team is playing.

I doubt firing Theus right now would help turn things around. Like Piksi said this mostly isn't his fault but he seems to be unable to help players improve or the team improve. Although maybe someone like Van Gundy could get a little more focus into these kids.

The last time the team played this bad (97 an 0-4 start) the following year it traded for Webber, signed Vlade Divac and drafted Jason Williams.

awards

TDM
Willie Green very efficient scoring, reminded me of a young Kevin Martin

LW-VC
Darko, sorry Darko it's not your fault you were drafted so high

JHA
Sorry Bobby it's also not your fault

Mikki
This goes to Mikki who did somehow manage to rack up 3 assist to go along with his zero points and zero rebounds

SAR Methuselah
Can this go to Elton Brand? Still looks kind of sluggish coming back from recovery

WTF moment of the game
The 76ers 3 point shooting contest during the game

player previews

Kevin
OJ Mayo is shooting 39% and averaging 3.3 turnovers per game. Martin is doing just as terrible (38% with 3.3 TO) but hopefully a home game is just what he needs to get back on track (again).

Beno
Show us why the Maloof's paid you.

Salmons
Stop forcing layups, its sad that he is leading the team in assist with 4.5.

Mikki
Can keep his spot starting job as long as Jason Thompson gets the minutes

Brad
...

Rest
Mateening with it

Hawes & Thompson
Keep giving us hope.

Hawes
Leading all sophomores in rebounding and second in blocks. Will be exciting to see how he holds up against Gasol.

Thompson
4th in rookie rebounding, behind Darrel Arthur. 3rd in points behind Beasley and Rose but playing 10 minutes less. Second in rookie efficiency under Gasol.

Memphis is bad but the Kings right now are worse. I'm excited to see how our young bigs will do against their young bigs Marc Gasol and Darrel ''The Hat Colector'' Arthur. TDM may definitely go to D. Arthur.

Sorry I'm no Piksi. Please feel free to add to the first post and edit.

Actually the TDM should go to Marc Gasol. Put up 27-17-and 3 blks in only his 4th game as a rook, and against our charmin frontcourt he could potentially do the same as well.

Hopefully Thompson continues his string of games where he shoots over 50% and makes a major contribution; in particular, let's hope that contribution comes when the game is at stake so that it's not all for naught.

I know it is hard to effectively out-piksi an 0-4 team with a -20ppg scoring margin, and I hope that dear piksi has not become discouraged by the team performing more poorly than even his worst piksiist nightmares.

Grizzlies vs. Kings

Office Pool Secretary format:

Grizzlies:

Kings:

I think advantage Grizzlies. Unless:

vs.

Nobody wins, especially not PETA.

Based on these two estimates, I'll have to call it a toss-up. Whichever team is both more vicious (ask the Byzantine Empire how the crusades went) and more tasty (I dunno - never eaten a b'ar, but the Whopper has slipped me into a coma before) will come out victorious.

X-Factor: The crowd. Will they support our 0-4 team? If so, I think the Kings win by about 10. Nothin' like a home-cooked meal.

In his chat today, David Thorpe mentioned that Martin has been quite sick over the last few days, but is feeling better now. I didn't see that news anywhere, but it probably explains his poor performance at least to some extent. Hope we shall see an improved performance now.

Heh, I see Thorpe changed his tune on JT and Hawes pretty quick after running them down a bit in recent chats.

In his first full Rookie writeup since the season started, he puts JT at #5, but says he might have been #1 if not for the team's awful play.

Also, out of the top 10, he has the highest PER rating. And of the top 50, he's number 4 (the three ahead of him have only played in one game compared to his 4). Let's go JT!!

I'm gonna have to record the game since I will miss the live showing.. I'm not seeing it listed on Comcast in HD, it's only listed on ch. 34 which is not HD. Anyone know if that is for sure? I thought all home games would be in HD but I do know Comcast isn't the greatest at their listings.

1-7 in preseason. 0-4 to start regular schedule. The Kings are due to break out of this accumulative 1-11 slump tonight and hopefully in a big way on this home stand. GO KINGS!!

I have had computer issues the past couple of weeks so I take the blame for them losing. They can't win without me cheering them on afterall!!!! Anyway, since I will be watching tonight, we are sure to win!
