Kings v. Bobcats PBP thread

Good day, fellow Kings fans! It's a few hours until game time but you need to make sure you have ALL your totems in place, your beverage(s) of choice chilling, etc. Don't forget anything!

Tonight's play-by-play thread will, as usual, be brought to you because of the dedication and generosity of our site owner, Jeremy. He puts a lot of effort into keeping this site up and operating...

I'll be doing the PBP for you all tonight. All I ask in return is that you keep your comments positive in that thread. You guys know me - I'm always positive about the Kings. If I have to try and defend them when people start getting negative, I get side-tracked. The losers are the people trying to follow the game via the thread.

I'm here... I'm getting my "totems" in their proper position. I've got my purple slippers, and my Christie jersey... (Yes, I know it's nuts to wear a jersey at home when it's just me and the TV, but I don't care!!!).

My favorite beverage is chilled and ready. (Diet Pepsi Vanilla for those who are interested.) My game-time snack choice tonight is Cheez-it crackers, with deli-thin slices of salami on the side.

It appears as though the snow level is going to be considerably higher than 4,500 feet so I should have no problem with my satellite dish. All in all, things are pretty good here in the forest...

They just had an interview with Gerald, who says he's a little sad he's not getting to play in Arco but his coaches/trainers want him to get a few day's rest. His eyes still look a little glassy. I think it's a good think he's not taking the court...

They showed his killer dunk last year against the Rockets at Arco.

I wish him well in the future. He and the Bobcats are a good fit for each other.

Grant Napear just announced that Chris Webber will not play tonight.

...Well, there go a lot of people's predictions. Remember, you cannot change them.

On the other hand, Darius should get some good minutes tonight and that can't hurt.

I don't know why Webber isn't playing. I suspect it could be that his knee is a little sore and they just don't want to risk it on a team like the Bobcats. If we need Webber in the lineup to beat them, we're in deep trouble.

They haven't announced anything more...when they do, I'll let you know asap/

Webber has played every single game and we need him to continue doing so in the future. If that means missing ocassional game against weaker teams - so be it.

Oops. My comment may have been misleading.

Let me rephrase - we're playing the Bobcats. We should beat them handily without Chris Webber having to take the court. If we can't beat them without Webber, we are in deep doo-doo.

That's all he said, and then he and Jerry started talking about how Pedja has awaken from his slumper and should have a field-day tonight!

I hope League Pass turns the game on. It's is 5 minutes past the start of the broadcast and they still have that intro screen on

Heuge - I sure will. I'm reasonably sure it's precautionary. At this point, they aren't going to take a chance on Chris playing if he's having any knee discomfort. I know my mom still has "bad days" with her knee, while other times she has no problems whatsoever. I think it's just something we - as Kings fans - are going to have to live with, as is the team. This is a good test for them tonight. See how they can perform without Webber on the court.

I think they'll do fine!!!

Camera is on Webber. He's looking good, although the suit he's wearing looks like crap. Expensive crap, but crap. His diamond stud looks good, however. He's walking up and down in front of the bench, talking to the guys and some folks behind the bench. I'm pretty sure, now, that his game off is simply to prevent any potential problems.
