[Game] Kings v. Blazers 11/09/13

Start LMAM at PF/Outlaw @SF have Patterson and Thompson as the back up PF/C move Thornton/Salmons to the bench with Thomas in there and we improve the bench and take the lifeless corpses out of the starting line up.

Cousins,LMAM, Outlaw, Mclemore,Vasquez , Patterson has given zero, JT has been awful Mclemore is a star stop holding the man back seriously. You got defense, length and most importantly energy in the starting line up.

That would not appear to be correct. Prior to tonight's game the Kings' strength of schedule was #8 in the league, Utah's was #17.
Utah has played 2 of their games at home against OKC and Houston. The rest have been on the road and 4 games in 5 nights agains eastern conference teams. I know that the records of the teams haven't been good but they have played all the beatable teams on the road and have played a lot of games. I don't think that Sacramento would have a win if they had played the schedule that Utah has played.

There ain't enough shooting in that lineup. Luc or JT would have to go to bench for a shooter like MT, Jimmer, PPat, or Trout. With Jimmer or MT, you get a second ball handler, and you get a third rebounder with PPat or Trout.

While you're probably right in theory, the fact that our "good" shooting lineup has sucked out loud sorta makes me not care whether we have enough shooters out on the court or not.

Tonight nobody on entire King team made 3 point FG except one dude - McLemore. He was 3-3 outside the arc. He's the shooter (along with Cuz inside or outside) and Jimmer when subbed in for him or GV. I'm tired of hero baller IT and black hole Salmons. Outlaw can come in for Luc or even JT. Change is in the air no matter what.

M-16 is a stud.. I still wish he would have made that dunk on opening night (his first attempt)! That was a statement dunk!

Stop. Seriously. Would you please step back and LISTEN to what I'm trying to tell you?

WE ARE KINGS FANS. We want to love our players. If you and a few other Jimmer-maniacs didn't act like pre-teen girls at their first Justin Beiber concert about Jimmer, it would be a lot easier on all of us.

LET HIM PROVE HIMSELF TO US LIKE HE DID TONIGHT. Quit posting the stupid crap and let your player's game speak for itself. Period.

Jimmer Bieber????

We might even get a look at McCallum soon and I can garauntee that he will give a great effort. Besides that, I like his skillset. I want to see him play, regardless of who's minutes he might take
This....I'll keep beating the drum for Ray if Malone keeps harping on defense. Ray > Jimmer all day

I didn't think Thomas played particularly well in the third/fourth tonight. I didn't mind pulling him at that time.

The last time Malone put him in the game he didn't have the concentration you want. Frankly, every time he's been inserted into the game since the beginning of the season (except for maybe the 1st game of the season) the team has been behind by a lot and he's had to carry them back into the game. This time I don't think he had the juice to bring the team back from 15 points down in the fourth quarter. It was a good substitution to bring in Jimmer, who should have loads of energy because of his lack of playing time.

"some of these players only care about themselves and when they aren't going they give up"
"im not so sure we have players on this team that hate to lose"

calling out Thornton and Salmons?

Also maybe Patterson? But then you're left with Thompson? The rebounding was atrocious in this game.

I don't think Patterson gives up out there. I think he's just stunk it up on offense. The wings have been just dreadful and no team is respecting the Kings outside shot. Cousins is still putting up 30 against a crowded lane.

But there aren't minutes at pg.

There's 48 mins for each position at the start of every game. The coach gets to choose who on the roster gets to play. I'm certainly not so sold on Vasquez to say that he deserves a certain amount of time every game. If for no other reason, he's not 100%. Lets at least take a peak at all of our talent on the roster

Who are they, God? I think not. They need to be called out.
Jimmer should play or not play based on his ability and talent...not on your whiny temper tantrums because you don't like that some folks like him a lot. For God's sake he is a good guy, works hard, doesn't ***** and like the other cast of misfits. It's no wonder he is liked a lot.

I agree Jimmer is a better passer. Besides that, everything MT has done in his career (with the exception of this year) is better than Jimmer. Nothing Jimmer has done in his minutes have ever demonstrated an ability to be a 20ppg scorer. Nothing.

But I know it's more fan to come on here like a weirdo shouting about the glory of Jimmer for a few weeks before the board gets tired of the act and sends you packing.

Jimmer played well tonight. Can't we just enjoy that without your shtick?
Most of you have no idea of the actual ability of Jimmer. He carried a very average BYU team on his back to the sweet 16 and tore up teams like Arizona and Florida. Those of us who followed his college career know why there was The Jimmermania craze. The kid can flat out ball if you turn him loose on the point. he will lose the handle once in awhile and make a few bone head plays, but then he will start draining 3s from everywhere and take attention from the other players making them a lot better. Instead of bagging on the guy try getting educated. I never heard of Isaiah mania or Vasquezmania. They can't do what Jimmer would do for the team at point unleashed...win.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

And I never said he should ignore his teammates. Jesus. Do you think DeMarcus Cousins wants to play another year on a 20 win team? Do you think these owners want to see empty seats because the team is going on their 6+ losing season in a row? Do you understand the momentum this city and this team had coming into this year?

I think Thomas is a better player than Vasquez. Straight up. No matter what system you are running, no matter who he is playing with, etc. You can try and convince me otherwise but every statistic you could find from this season suggests you would be wrong.

I don't really understand what you aren't understanding. Thomas will never lead this team to a championship. I am admitting that, that is obvious, but I think he can lead us to more wins. How is that confusing? He can help us get to a certain level, to a certain step - one that I certainly believe is above the 1-5 record we have right now. For the one millionth time. Not championship level, just better.
I understand that IT is likable and gets a hot hand shooting from time to time but he is not a good facilitator. The offense has to run through DC 1st. Also the point guard needs to set up other guys as much as himself. IT is mostly about IT. The team is a losing team when he runs it.

You must be new to this web site and perhaps to the NBA. Most of us know very well how good he was in college. In fact I feel very confident that Jimmer could play as well at BYU right now. I was one of those who wanted him drafted.

We also witnessed an almost complete melt down in his rookie year in the NBA. He could be trapped easily and clearly was in over his head. His defense was almost absent which is NOT a change from college. I think he has improved but give us some credit. Some if us are not ignorant when it comes to basketball whether it be college or NBA. Some of us don't have it in for Jimmer. Most of us would like Jimmer to perform well. If Jimmer can show he belongs at this level and can make our team better, I want him to play. He hasn't demonstrated that ability at the NBA level so far. It appears that Malone will give him a solid chance so let's see what happens. If he handles NBA players as well as he handled college players, it will be a good thing for us all. We will have facts to deal with and not fond memories.

I hardly think having something named after you is an indication of whether someone is good or not. Tebowmania was a big deal until the entire world realized the dude couldn't throw the ball... or make correct reads... or really do much of what a quarterback is supposed to do. Heck, the list of Heismann trophy winners largely looks like a list of NFL draft busts.

I hate to go back to this well because it makes it seem like I'm comparing the two players but Adam Morrison was a national sensation when he was at Gonzaga and absolutely shooting other teams out of the arena but that was not exactly an indicator of a burgeoning NBA career. This isn't to say that Jimmer is going to grow an awful mustache and get cut by teams in Europe but it is another example of a situation in which a player who was absolutely dominant in the college ranks laid a fat egg at the pro level.

What worked at the college level won't necessarily work at the NBA level. Mistakes that went unnoticed or unexploited in college ball will be dissected and exploited at the pro level.

With all that talk of busts, I still think that Jimmer can be a successful NBA player but most definitely not as a lead dog as so many of you new poster seem to believe he can be. There is always room in the NBA for good shooters as long as they recognize their limits and are not overcome by them. As a situational role player, I think Jimmer could be a valuable asset to a team in contention. As the featured guy in a system? I think that ship has long sailed. Anyone thinking that he's going to suddenly flip a switch and put up the sort of numbers he did in college are delusional.

I'm not trying to crush your dreams or anything (although if you are dreaming of Jimmer on a semi-frequent basis, you may want to consult a psychiatrist), I'm just trying to temper your expectations.

My first post in awhile here but Ive been lurking had to reactiviate my account after this game.

I really hope Malone sees the situation here its not about the Jimmer fanatics or Ben Macs youngness. He needs to see that for 6 games this team has seen nothing from 3 starters....nothing. You cant win NBA games like that and its actually telling of how talented DMC, IT and GV ( he is not the problem btw) are that they can stay in these games.

I really think letting the rooks(and Jimmer) loose to play hard and make mistakes will lead to positive results in the stands and the win column. I know myself personally Ive had high hopes this season to watch Cousins work but I cant get myself to tune in regularly when we have 3 dogs starting. Pouty Thornton plays better off the bench, I dont see why Ben Mac is treated any differently than Reke or Cousins both were raw rookies and were thrown to the fire.

At 1-5 with other crap teams playing well the season now should be about young guys with young legs going to war with our big man

Dude, the little clip they showed of IT talking about him being a spark plug was arguably the most selfish thing I've ever heard him say. It's like he wants to start, he thinks he's the best to start and he's gonna damned well prove how valuable he is any time he's on the court. I've defended IT a lot in the past, but that is NOT acceptable to me... I hope I just took it the wrong way.
It was not a joke when I said when he looks in the mirror he sees himself as a Kobe type player. He's very delusional about his place in this league. And does a lout of pouting when things don't go his way. I think Malone was talking about him (and salmons and Thornton) in the post game interview. And IT played 17 mins. His selfishness is a cancer to this team.

I guess quote by JR was, "when Isaiah is in he makes the team better." It should have been, "when Isaiah is in he makes the pizza guy better."
It's very discouraging that they keep saying this. Casual fans get very confused about IT and even sometimes call for him to start.

Reading more into Malone post game rant, I'm think IT is most definitely, not going to be starting. In fact, he may continue to play 17 mins until he pulls his head out of you know what and passes the ball.

He was putting up shots while Ben was wide open outside.

And now, to make my night complete, Thornton is back in...
Being a spark plug does not mean you take every shot and ignore wide open teammates. A pass can spark a team too.

I'm glad we agree on IT.

Except there really hasn't been an open man for the most part. Besides, if his role is to get it to the open shooters why hasn't coach yanked him for it? He continues to play plenty because while he may be a ball stopper, he provides a spark this team lacks.
He played 17 mins. He did get yanked eventually.

Easy to say this after the game, but it seems here most were vastly unimpressed with ITs play despite his scoring.

I feel like a broken record, but this team needs Isaiah offense. Yes, offense. Shooting. Taking it to the rim. All of that. And a lot of it.

We don't need him to be the point guard we needed him to be last year. Evans is gone, he's not stealing anyones shots anymore. He is our second best scorer and it isn't close. The shots are his to take.

And that isn't ideal. It isn't good, of course we WANT a better second option, but it is reality.
No no no no no. C'mon now.

We are such a terrible team when he plays like that. Everyone just stands around, sometimes wide open, watching the IT show.

Oh, we'll get it. It will be a full house and the fans will be incredible right from the start. Symbiosis at its best.
No matter what the team does, when these fans have something to cheer for, they deliver. In this case cheering is the goal itself, so I think we'll be ok.

If Malone and the Kings are trying to actually WIN games, Jimmer will be starting and logging 30+ minutes a night. The thing is, though, the Kings will be in playoff contention if that happens and they won't get these so called studs in the draft.

That's absurd, of course Malone WANTS to be winning these games. His reputation is on the line! I highly doubt that he's been instructed to make sure he has a losing record this year, and I know he wouldn't do that on his own, as I'm sure he wants to keep his job as a coach...... I think that some people want to believe that because it's less painful for them to have to face the fact that the Kings are just a bad team right now....

But there aren't minutes at pg.
I look at it as 96 minutes at the guard spots with some minutes at the SF spot when moving Ben there. Take out MT and Salmons and you have opportunities to get minutes. I think Malone sees that he has to play some 3 guard offense....no choice if he wants best guys on the floor.

Utah has more potential pieces for the future than we do. They don't have a cousins though.

They'll get that in the draft next season. And that franchise won't look so bad.

They only have Kanter and Favors, they are most likely not gonna pay Heyward and Burke is a question mark. They are pretty much in the same predicament as us. The draft wont really help them muchh imo

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah......I love how Jimmer gets into the paint and turns it over like he did tonight. I think we all wish he could do the things he didn't BYU....but ain't going to happen.
