Whooooooooo!!! Are you ready for some basketball?

I AM!!!

If you've been around KF, you know the PBP is my take on the game. I actually watch the game and give a running play-by-play/commentary. It started as a way to share the game with our fellow fans who cannot watch. It's become tradition and I actually miss it during TDOS.

There will most likely be a game discussion thread since this one isn't interactive. (You can check the game archives to see past threads and get an idea of what I'm talking about...)

We've survived another TDOS, fellow Kings fans. It's a new season, we have new uniforms and new players - and new hope. Right now, we COULD go all the way through June.

Let's get ready for Kings basketball!!!

It's hard to believe it's finally time. It's like waiting all year for Christmas and suddenly waking up to snow outside, a beautiful decorated tree in the living room and tons of presents.

Yes, fellow Kings fans, it's time for some Sacramento Kings basketball!!!!

Ever had one of those dreams where you're supposed to be taking a big test but you show up in your underwear, totally unprepared? I just realized I didn't bother to look at the roster to make sure I know the numbers of the new players. Thank goodness this is just pre-season.

Anyone having issues finding the game in DTV? I changed it to 656 but nothing comes on. It says it's the Kings game but nothing.

Also, CSN shows up on another channel with the Mavs game.. UGH!! I hope they play the game... Anyone find it on another channel on DTV?

Oh, joy. I'd forgotten how much Grant Napear's face annoys me. I promise to try very hard not to rant too much about Howdy Doody.

The new warmups look really good. And you can see the emotion on both Donte Green and Jason Thompson, as they pace the sidelines waiting for their first games as NBA professionals. I envy them - their hearts must be pounding and their palms a little sweaty. They're about to embark upon a ride they could only dream about.

And people wonder why I love this game.

They're showing an interview between Grant and Reggie. Reggie is saying he learned quite a bit this past season...as he's wearing one of his jackets that practically causes cameras to explode.

He's praising Bobby Brown first, talking about his hustle and effort. Now he's talking about the versatility of Jason Thompson and how quickly he moves up the court. He moves on and says some nice things about Donte Green, and then goes on to talk about chemistry, hustle and drive in general.

Miss, Udrih flips the board to Salmons. Nice ball movement so far...

The new uniforms look good. Kings to the line on a defensive three-second call.

Kings ball. Hawes to Garcia, pullup jumper over Aldridge is good.

3-0 KINGS

TB miss; Oden and Hawes collide. SPencer called for over the back.

TB inbounds. Webster long miss; Salmons board.

GOOD ball movement by the Kings. Moore jumper doesn't go. TB rebound.

Oden half-hook misses badly; Hawes rebound.

Udrih miss; TB ball.

Dish to Oden inside for the dunk and the +1 from Hawes.

Bonus misses badly, Hawes tips board to Udrih, Garcia on the run, gets the ball and the running lay-up.

Rodriques for two. Udrih replies with a quick two at the other end.

Hawes called for a foul but I certainly didn't see it. 3PF but Hawes stays in. Moore switches to Oden and Hawes will cover Adridge.

Rodriques miss but rebound out to Roy for the three.

Salmons jumper doesn't go; Webster board.

TB miss; Salmons rebound. Lead pass to Moore, who is fouled and heads to the line.

Did I mention this team is FAST?



Mikki to the line. Makes first; Shelden Williams into the game for Hawes. Grant says he'll match up better against Oden. Moore makes second.

9-7 KINGS

Full court press by the Kings; TB finally gets across the line.

Aldridge smothered by Moore, misses the shot and Garcia snags the board. Up court very quickly. Another illegal defense call on TB.

Garcia misses the freebie... Kings to inbound.

Udrih with the ball, cuts and spins and gets past Rodriques. Beno fouled and heading to the line.

Makes first; and second.

GO KINGS!!!

TB ball. Iden misses, grabs the rebound, muscles in and draws hard foul from Mikki. Oden looks about 40 years old, BTW...Not in movement but he has an OLD face.

Oden at the line. Makes first; and second.

Kings inbound, Udrih with the ball. Garcia long three airballs, scrum for the rebound, Roy gets it and is fouled by Udrih.

Roy to the line.

Roy makes first; misses second. Shelden goes up for the rebound, hit in the air by Roy but no call. Kings save the ball, get it to Udrih, who charges inside, blows by two TB and gets the bucket.

TB turnover but Kings return the favor... TB ball.

Roy for long two.

Udrih to Moore for two from the mid-range jumper.

Oden inside, kick out to Roy, back inside to ?? who is fouled and will be heading to the line. (I couldn't see who the Blazer was...)

Roy at the line for TB. He misses first; and second. Shelden with the rebound.

Przybilla just hit Garcia in the face with his shoulder and elbow. Cisco flattened for a moment but gets back up. Kings inbound. Thompson misses the long shot, TB with the rebound.

Bayliss called for traveling. Kings get the ball back...

Tough fallaway by Shelden doesn't go. TB rebound.

Nice defense by Jason; TB miss, Bobby rebound.

Salmons cuts inside, kicks out to Garcia who makes the three, comes down on the foot of one of the Blazers and heads to the stripe for a possible four-point play.

Bonus good.

Jackson, Salmons, Garcia, Thompson and Shelden for the Kings

Bayliss for three.

Bobby J. looks really good. Nice ball movement by the Kings, Salmons pull up does everything but fall. TB rebound.

NICE play by Jason Thompson forces a jump ball from behind by tying up Aldridge. Thompson is QUICK.

Did I mention how cool the new uniforms look?

Tip to TB. Fernandez chases it down, shot misses but TB retains possession. Travis OUtlaw for two.

Kings ball, foul on Aldridge. That makes 5 team fouls so Kings will head to the stripe - Bobby - after the commercial.

Our team has youth, it has speed and it has chemistry. They have heart and hustle, and I think there's gonna be enough energy and excitement to thrill the hearts of the fans. And we have a bench, folks! This team could surprise a lot of people. I'll tell you right now - make plans to attend a game if at all possible.

Thompson inside, miss. Shelden battling inside, fouled by Pryzbilla, whom I just remembered I really hate.

Shelden to the line. Makes first; second goes in, rattles around and pops back out.

Kings have a total of ONE turnover for the game so far.

TB ball. Oob, still TB. Pryzbilla out, somebody else in. TB at the line.

Makes first; misses second.

Kings ball. Bobby Brown at the point. To Jason, then to Donte. Miss but Shelden boxes out and snags the board. Jason Thompson for two.

Thompson on the run, contests the shot but draws the foul. Bayliss at the line.

Misses first; makes second.

Bobby to Bobby, over to Thompson, miss but Donte Green SOARS up for the tip-in.

Folks, you are going to be impressed by these kids. More like good college ball than stodgy old-folk NBA ball.

Travis Outlaw fouled as Jason Thompson almost blocked his shot successfuly. Outlaw to the line.

Outlaw miss; Thompson rebound. Over to Brown, buzzer shot doesn't go.
