man I haven't been watching the game and I just saw the score. My first reaction was so what! Some of you take games too seriously especially today when it's the first preseason game for a young team. Get a grip of yourselves. The wizards lost by 36 to the mavs. Guess their seasons over too?

The Wizards' season was over ever since they lost Gilbert Arenas until December. The Bucks lost by 39 yesterday, but they weren't a relevant team to start with. I know it's just preseason and there isn't many expectations for us, and considering that the pace is always hectic and sloppy talent level always triumphs, but losing by 30+, even in preseason, doesn't spell well. Admittedly, the Blazers have young raw talent just oozing all over the place, but we were severely outmatched. It was rough out there.

Preceptions are deceiving and dangerous but I do not have any problem with Your description of my identity on this forum. You are spot on with that. Having high standards generally leans You in such direction. I got to be me.

No worries man.. I am just razzing you.

I am the same way with my Bengals.. The go-bengals.com fans hate me for it. But then again, i am negative by nature when it comes to just about anything.. Why else would a 34 year old good looking guy like myself never have been in a relationship longer than a year and a half, and never have had kids/been married hehe.. At least I am not negative about that =/

Looking at the game today, man! Oden is just too big!
And our frontline was just totally exposed (esp. when KT started to play PF). Shelden(our lone banger) was looking like a 6'6" guard when posted by Oden.

Maybe that Nene trade can be visited again?
A Nene/Wilcox on our roster could be really useful as Big Centers are starting to come again.
Kenny + Shelden/Douby for Nene maybe a good offer(I think) for Denver who seems to be too concern with the cap. Since both contracts are shorter than Nene's.

That might be, but I think they are more concerned with the LT. Right now, they are over it, and would obviously like to get under it, if they can. Doubt they shall give up an asset like Nene for nothing, just for future cap space. If it helps them get under the tax, they might consider trades, but they shall expect much more than this.

As for cap, they should have some cap if they let AI become a FA (think he is signed for this year).

It's funny.. Right when KT came in we were up by like 9 or something in the 2nt quarter, then we lost 11pts right off, and were down by 2 or 3 when he came out. I think KT is poison and don't even think we should play him in the pre-season. No reason to.. We know what he gives us.. 0pts 0rbds 0asts 1to 1stl 3pf in like 8 minutes of work.. Way to go KT!

Anyway, I did like Greene, and Thompson had some REAL nice looking moves. It's going to take a bit for him to reach his potential, but if he does reach his potential I can see him being a fringe all-star type player. Beno, and Garcia looked good in the first half, and Moore was his typical no rebounding self. Seriously.. Moore needs to come off the bench as an energy player which leads me to this. Enough of this no rebounding PF.

Thompson isn't a 18-19 year old 1 year of college player. He's a 4 year college player 3 year starter. PUT HIM AT STARTING PF whether he is ready or not. Let him learn on the job. If he was 19 I would say let him learn the ropes, but the kid is 23 (?) and needs to start ahead of Moore.

After this game, I think my ideal 5 for the Kings will be a lineup of Miller, Thompson, Greene, Martin, and Jackson. This 5 can run, pass, and score wherever you like. Plus the size and hustle of the young guys here. Let this lineup play for 10 mins per game to switch to full offensive team and a good enough defense (with a tall frontline).

Yeah,

The KT/Moore frontline killed us. The game did shift when Kenny was put in, but I'm not going to put all the blame on him when Mikki grabs all of one (!) rebound in 14 minutes. It was the combination of the two that started the portland layup drills. Honestly I think they should both be benched until their contracts expire. Moore was a horrible signing.

Greene with 18?! I bashed the kid early on in the game for his shot selection (he was jacking 3's left and right, got me worried since that was his college MO)...But Reggie must have gotten on him about that because later on he was our only guy bothering to get to the line. Only 2 boards, but its not like there were any defensive rebounds to be had when EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION (late game) by Portland ended in a dunk or an easy layup. He had that great block too.

JT had a rough game, but some good hussle. I think he's going to prove that 12 was not too high a pick for him.

Hawes....Hawes, Hawes, Hawes. Next time you get a chance for some strength and conditioning training you TAKE IT! Bad shot after bad shot and the kid was getting thrown around like a ragdoll by Oden (although I think anyone not named D. Howard or Bynum is going to get the same treatment). It's not that I want to write him off...He did show us some glimpses at the end of last season...But after Miller I really dont want to have another 5 that thinks they're a 1 (hell, I guess the passing center thing started with old Vlade, but I'll be damned if I speak ill of him!). Petrie needs to get over his finesse fetish and get us a 5 who will bang, block, and board.

I don't know that this is the appropriate thread, but its related to last night's game. A co-worker walked into my office this morning and told me that she had gone to the game last night. I said, "Hey, they played the Kings, they're my team, ya know?" And her response was something along the lines of "Oh, I really like the center with the funky hair! He's a hoot!"

I nearly had to run her out of my office.

lol @ article titled "kings rebuilding mirrors portland." looks like he was looking through a very old, cracked, mirror. or perhaps it was just a shiny rock.

all said though, its where i expected the kings to be. some call it pessimism, some call it reality. we have promising players, but at this point no one really shines moreso than other teams' notable youngsters. itll take a lot of developing of the kids to get to where other rebuilding young promising teams are

Man, I didn’t think that our team would come out and show everybody that they mastered the triangle and could pass like nobody has ever seen. But we have a whole lot of work to do and this year will be filled with tons of emotions (both positive and negative).

So I got to watch the first quarter and part of the second. I saw some good things and I saw some bad.

The good:

1. I like what Bobby Brown, Jason Thompson and Donte Greene will hopefully bring to this team.
2. Francisco is only going to get better. I can’t wait till he improves his passing even more. Hopefully he’ll get to play with Kevin [our Bash Brothers].
3. There were several nice passes. I was hoping to see more but hopefully that will come with team experience.
4. The kids got to see some action.
5. I think Bobby Jackson is going to be a good mentor for the kids.
6. This was preseason.

The Bad:

1. We still have John, Sheldon and Kenny (and even Mikki) on our roster.
2. The passing game wasn’t that impressive (I know that we need more time on the floor together). Good thing that this was preseason.
3. The game was a little rough. It looked like it crashed in the second half.
4. Spencer isn’t ready to get the starter nod (yet). I’m hoping that this was a bad game. But I want to see him pass it more.
5. Quincy was out. I hope he can quickly recover and see some good quality floor time.

The Sad:

1. Just seeing how excited the Portland crowd was for a Preseason game makes me miss how our fans used to be.
2. That we could have had Jerryd Bayless at number 11. If we just made the deal with Indiana.
3. Lets hope we’re not done making moves this year.
4. Is it late to jump on the Portland Bandwagon? lol…They’re going to be a fun team to watch once they click on all cylinders and hit the speed button.

Or much less, they could trade him to an under cap team (there are thought to be 4-5 this year) for draft picks alone.

Yes, like they did with Camby.

Not sure which under-cap team would want AI. Clippers were in a unique situation that they had hoped to have a decent team with both EB and BD. When EB and even Maggette suddenly departed, they had tons of cap space and an unhappy BD and fan base. So, picking Camby for them was a decent option.

As for AI, don't know which these are (and AI I think, makes 21M or so. Don't know if any team is so much under the cap), but they are likely to be lousy. While having AI shall help sell tickets, it shall deny them a high pick for half a season of AI (he won't re-sign with a bottom feeder). They could trade him for a second rounder or something like that, but that shall really be spitting in the face of the fans.

As for Nene, yes, more teams shall be interested in him. He is younger, and if they trade for him, he shall be around for some time. For that reason, even Nuggets won't want to give him away. His medical history shall also be a factor.
