Hawes and Garcia get the start with Miller and Martin nicked up. Reggie also said that Hawes would start the last 3 or 4 preseason games in preparation for Miller's 5 game suspension, so he should actually have the opportunity to show where he's at.

On the downside, Mikki still gets the start. Let's hope that doesn't last too far into the season.

Excellent about Hawes. The more pt he gets the better. This Miller suspension could be very good news. Wouldn't it be nice if Hawes did so well that Miller couldn't get his starting job back?

Thank goodness! im about as excited as can be to finally watch a young and fairly exciting team. No more of Bibby and Artest fighting to see who can be the best leader and all that other nonsense. Thats pretty good that martin and miller wont play although i would like to stick it to the Blazers.

I think we really match up well with Portland when healthy and im not scared when we play them now or in the future...bring it on.

Well, apperently JT's defense is a work in progress at this point, so that will probably dictate his PT...Although with his supposedly Martinesque work ethic and shotblocking ability I think he'll probably be fine (eventually haha).

That's how it sounds. Reggie seems eager to get JT into the offense and running game, so good defensive effort could earn him minutes rapidly. In summer league, JT seemed to already have a good ability for staying in front of his man in space, but NBA post defense is a big adjustment and eye-opener for any rookie big man.

Reggie said he'd be taking a long look at the young guys, at least in the early part of the preseason. Garcia starting for Martin and Douby also out should open up minutes for Donte behind Salmons tonight.

I might just be the happiest person in the entire world right now, I just checked my TV - Dish Network .. and they are showing all preseason games on League Pass .. Not to mention they are doing the anual free trial of league pass, which doesnt matter to me much because I get it anyways but I think this means everyone here should be able to watch the game ..

I give this game 5 minutes of decent to horrible play before things break loose and the broadcast will lose all sembalance of a basketball game. Kings win btw.

So im watching espn right now, there talking about Odens first preseason game back from surgery.. assuming some of the guys at espn watch this game, its a cool chance for them to see JT and Hawes and maybe we'll get talked about a bit tomorrow, Im fully confident our young bigs can outplay Oden again.

Really looking forward to this game...preseason, yes...but I like the team we're playing against & I find both sets of rookies intriguing.

Side note, I think that the media (and some fans) are going to be pretty hard on Oden...just wait.

People forget, he was still listed as a "project" before his injury...he was raw, mostly on offense. He'll have a slow start, but this definitely is not the season to judge him...I'm predicting worst-case 5pts/3rb/.7block (and injury) best case 10pts/8reb/1.5block (and healthy) this season.

Yep, it was in the Bee. Nothing major, but no reason to push it. Besides, those guys are vets. Wouldn't be surprised to see them able to play but just sitting out to just give the youngsters some PT so Reggie can evaluate them more....
