Kings trade and draft rumours

If we do any deal with Miami it's got to include Wright. Although he is still very raw, he has so much potential and he would add a dimension that we have lacked for some time...namely someone who is freakishly athletic who could be another Gerald Wallace in a few years.

Way too late in the game for that -- unfortunately he would need a brain transplant.. Crawford's not a kid anymore. In fact he's only a year or two younger than Mike. He's not a good defender, never will be. He is what he is. A streaky, dumb, scoring PG or scrawny OG. Terrible shot selection. Somewhat selfish. Little defense. But when he's on a hot streak, can be a terror.

Unfortunately the real terror is that you're lucky if he shoots 40% for you in a season, this despite him being a good shooter and talented offensive player. The issue being that he has never, and apparently will never, meet a shot he will not take. They are all good shots for him. So he just chucks them up. Sometimes he will run back on defense and get into a stance. Sometimes he will not. Anybody gets physical with him he just runs away. Put him at the point and nobody is involved but him. Might be able to manage a positive assist/turnover ratio though. Maybe.

Think the lack of smarts leads to the lack of discipline. He's like Stromile Swift's kid brother.

I think your analysis is very persuasive, but it wouldn't surprise me if Petrie makes this deal, or one like it - a vet player with some warts, who is more athletic than Bibby. Personally, I'd rather get a high draft pick and some enders, but until I see differently I think Petrie is going for the quick fix.

I actually think that it is more likely that Artest is traded to Miami, more so than Bibby. The most obvious package would be JWill and the #20 which I would do. It would be nice to have Wright thrown in, but I doubt Miami would do it. With JWill you get one year with an old fan favorite then a cool 9 million off the books, that's one year less than Artest's contract. The #20 could be very valuable as well with Petrie's latest track record with later draft picks or it could be used as part of another trade that occurs later.

From a selfish Kings standpoint I would rather see the Heat go for Artest than Bibby. Because that would keep hope alive that Bibby could be the key to turning to Boston for Ratliff and the #5, or Atlanta for that #3 or whatnot.

.
I totally agree with this, the teams that need Bibby the most just happend to have the best available assets, (Atlanta, Memphis, Boston, Minnesota, Milwaukee) all need a point guard and all have high lottery picks. Thats alot of different trade options, I like where we are standing with trying to move Bibby.

Wright,Jwill,20th looks solid for an Artest trade, but if we move Artest I want Thomas' contract to try and be negotiated in the deal.

People need to remember that we can't trade Bibby until July 1st at the earliest without him waiving his ETO.

Don't forget Brick that Walker only has 2 years of guaranteed money left...we could realistically ship KT for Walker as part of the deal to shed a year off of the deal and have another contract expire with Bibby's to give us quite a bit more cap room...that's be 20 million coming off the books in the summer of 2009.

Hmmmmmm......and who just happens to be an FA in 2009 and a close buddy and idol to our fair owners, hmmm?

That could happen.

If it was Walker, then that's their backup PF right? Well, we are taking off of their hands an awful contract for a problme player. And giving them a potential star player. They owe us. So you have them add in Wright and Michael Doleac's ender along with Walker (and the #20), total comes out to over $13mil, and we send them Ron and Kenny -- total comes out to about $15 mil.

i.e.

Sac out:
Artest $7.8mil (1yr +1yr player option)
Kenny $7.3mil (3 yrs)
-----------------
$15.1mil

Sac In:
Walker $8.5mil (2 yrs + 2yrs team option)
Doleac $3.1mil (1 yr)
Wright $1.7mil (1 yr)
#20 pick
-------------------------
$13.3mil

But I STILL don't want Walker, and while the article says that no formal talks have begun, I would imagine neither do we.

Am warming to that New York idea though, although it begins to make the deal too big, and hence much less likely to occur. I am almost certain Zeke wanted Twoine at some point. He doesn't want Frye etc., and is still deluding himself that he's just a piece or two away from contention. Would not mind washing Walker through NEw York and seeing what we could pick up instead (as long as it wsn't one of the godawful forever contracts). Potential problem being, that I think at one time Riley wouldn't deal with the Knicks. Not sure now.

I really like that trade as long as we know teams are interested in Walker, because I wouldnt want him on the team either, maybe we could even try and package Walker with Bibby in a bigger trade, that may up that trade value.
I'm getting ahead of myself now but theres so many possibilities.

In a year Walker is basically an expiring contract.
