Kings-Thunder post-game discussion

Hall of Famer
The announcers for Oklahoma liked Evans. I know that Westbrook will be happy if he never see's Evans again. He couldn't do squat against him. They also liked Casspi and noted his toughness. Hawes ended up being respectable and did score most of his points in the last quarter in the post against Etan Thomas. Thompson had a nice game in limited minutes. He stayed out of foul trouble. Sergio was terrific tonight. He had some turnovers near the end of the game, but it seemed as though everybody was getting a little bit sloppy on both sides. I'll give him credit. When it mattered, he took care of the ball.

Evans had a good game in limited minutes also. He played great defense on Westbrook. Even when Westbrook managed to beat him off the dribble he recovered and blocked his shot. Hard to say about Beno. I guess he also did ok in limited minutes. I can't say that he impacted the game in any way. I don't believe he had any assists. May had a good game. He scored some points and grabbed some rebounds. Not spectacular, but very blue collar.

The Thunder seemed very unbalanced. From what their announcers said, their two previous games wern't much better. So there seems to be some concern on how the team is coming together. Lets hope it stays that way until next thursday. :)

why didnt martin play?

Kevin had a minor tweaked ankle. I heard from an incredibly reliable source, however, that he wasn't intending to play tonight anyway... Westphal was going to rest him since we've got a 3 games in 4 night road trip to open the season.

sergio with 11 assists, when was the last time anyone had double digit assists for us?

april 13th, bobby jackson had 12... before that was february 8th salmons had 11.... on 11/26 beno had 10... we had 3 all season.... which is a damn shame and i guess that makes sense, since we only won 17 games...

Ask and ye shall recieve I guess.

Sergio had a great stat line, I'm glad to see that. I think he can take minutes from Beno but then the ultimate problem is Beno gets to replace KT as the bench fodder. Love the game from Sergio, he could be a really legit backup pg. Spanish Chocolate.

Found an interesting stat line while preparing for fantasy basketball this year:

Like seeing JT, Tyreke, and Martin up there. But we need Hawes to start ramping up his work ethic. He seems like he just has no desire to man-up and battle down low. He shouldn't be worried about an errant elbow to his face, there really isn't anything to protect.

Oh and don't worry that Turiaf is on there.....it's an aberration, he only played one game.

Sergio's a legit passer--pass first, pass second, pass third sort of player, and can rack up assists despite having a very questionable jumper--really shows how good his handles/quickness are. I can honestly say he's the best passer we've had in at least five years. His other skills are lacking, but this aspect of his game is on the elite level as far as NBA PGs go.

Casspi again is growing on me--has shown scoring chops in this league on top of toughness. Might have a steal with him.

That's very positive about Evans. Westbrook is extremely athletic. If Evans can hold a guy like that in check, it bodes well...

Maybe shouldn't worry about those knees, either.

I was talking about him being afraid to catch an elbow to his chin. The knees are a different story. He just needs to toughen up and stop being such a puss.

Hawes will never be banging with the other giants. He will once in a while show he can defend, then go back to being soft. Hawes is a smart Kid and seems in the mold of Carlos Boozer. He knows at 7-ft tall and with a lot of skill he will always be in demand and earn his millions anyways.

Do you really expect a smart kid to play all-out effort giving tough defense and risk himself getting a career-ending injury/re-injury to his knee?

The kid is a wuss by his own choice and will be a loser if he doesn't change his mentality.

I've been wondering the same thing. I think he is smart enough to know that he can make many more millions by hanging around the league as long as possible rather than risking a career ending knee injury. Of course, he risks that just by playing. But, he may feel the risk is higher by banging with the big boys in the paint.

I've been biting my tongue trying not to say what you said. I still hope Hawes proves us wrong.

Thats why it is so damn frustrating.....

The best part of Sergio's night was how he got easy baskets for our front line. Half of the assists were for easy baskets inside for layups and dunks. Mason dunk, JT dunk, Hawes, Greene, & Omri all had point blank shots.

I'm not at all concerned with the TO's. As long as he's being aggressive.

Seriously.

Its better than Beno's patented "dribble off my own foot and then glare at teammates like it was their fault" type of TO.

I am looking forward to tonight's game but tired of having to listen to the opposite team's flagship stations and announcers instead of Kings broadcast staff ! Why does the NBA prohbit KHTK from streaming the games when all the other preseason Kings opponents flagship stations can do so? Can Tyreke slow down Williams and vice versa? What will be the result of Brockman and Milsap (the two short heavyweights) colliding in the paint? Will Omri have another night that excites Kings fans, among many other intriguing questions and matchups. On another note, why is there another Lakers - Nuggets matchup being televised nationally for another consecutive night? (Hoping all things become equitable and the small market clubs are treated as equals in the NBA some day). Go Kings!!!
