yeah Not impressed with game 1 from Walton. Dedmon only 14 minutes, yet we're getting absolutely destroyed in the paint and at the rim. Bagley and Fox only 24 minutes, yet we're getting creamed most of the 2nd half. Bjelica, Ariza and Bogi got waaaay too long of a leash.
14 minutes?! Oh, Walton ....

I better not hear one word about the playoffs from this team. This didn’t look like a team that cares either way, and that’s what’s disappointing here

we didn’t have games like this last year. We’ve lost leads and all that, but this felt different
They had their heart ripped out from them in the third quarter. It was extremely disappointing. They showed alot of fight last year. I was waiting for a last gasp push and it never happened.

Absolutely disgusting. Last year we would have fought and it would be an absolute nail biter right now

We have our pick! So we have something to look forward too. Maybe there’s a generational stud we’ll actually take if we get lucky for the third pick in a row!

Go team! Yay lins.
I honestly can't even root for lins (not that that is a bad thing, it always felt dirty) after last year's draft. Who knows what zany stuff the Vladster might get up to if we're top 2 again! Can never have too many energy bigs!

I guess I have to root for the Kings and Marvin Bagley's development (I still think he can be a beast, but it's gonna be frustrating until he puts it together - never mind that the other guy is looking incredible) for the time being!

On to the next one!

This game turned when Fox picked up his fourth. You cannot get into foul trouble when you are as important as he is to this team, especially guarding Rick freaking Rubio. Give credit to the Suns though, they clamped down defensively.

The main problems tonight was fox, dedmon, bogi and Aliza. All really looked like crap. Barnes and buddy looked pretty good. Bagley stat line was ok for 28 min. But seemed much worse to the eye

Oh, I was asking whether you thought the Kings would be at the bottom of the Pacific.
No. As upset as I am about this game. It is only one game. I’m gonna worry after 10 if they look like this the whole time. I still believe they are a playoff team as of right now but of course we’ll see as the season progresses.

I’m never going to stop rooting, but deep down we know this is going to hurt for a long long time. Some us are just more freely admitting it.

It really hit me when Carmichael Dave was already asking “When do you know you made a mistake” on his radio show the other morning. Like really gut-punched me hard to hear him asking it.

Except Bogi sucked last season too.
That was partially injury related (he's way better than a 36% three-point shooter when healthy). And he has a tendency of trying to do too much when he's asked to be a primary ball-handler. His numbers weren't terrible last season, he just wasn't knocking down shots. His ideal role is the one Buddy is playing for us right now... come off screens or spot up and knock down shots. Then use the threat of the jumper to create open looks when the defense overplays him. I wish he played more of his minutes next to a competent PG. Coming off the bench he's been asked to bring the ball up and create too much in my opinion.

Though if this is our new offense for the rest of the year I'm not sure it would matter much. Fox looks like he doesn't know where to go with the ball which was not the case with him at all last season. He's a smart enough player that I suspect he's trying his best to run the offense, it's just not a system that works. I honestly can't figure out what we're trying to do out there offensively right now. I was tracking shots in the first quarter and there were 3 or 4 bad shots for every good shot. Some of those bad shots went in but you hate to see guys forcing pull-ups in traffic, long twos, and wild drives into the lane in the first quarter of the first game of the season. Nobody should be tired yet, nobody is nursing injuries or distracted or sleep deprived. I hope it was just nerves and our new coach is as pissed as we are because otherwise we're in for a very rough season.

Yep. This was the calling card of last years team. No matter how bad things got, you never saw the team give up and just let the blow-out happen.

Lack of energy from the key cogs. Horrible games from Bogdan/Fox/Bagley. Horrid rotations from Walton, playing the bench way too long and only getting Dedmon 14 minutes after we got absolutely decimated in the paint.

It's 1 game and I'm never someone who cares about small-sample sizes. But there needs to be some "back to the drawing board" type of panic from the everyone. Just a lot of systematic problems and regression from last years team.

Oy vey. I was only able to catch the second half but such a disappointing way to start the season. Suns got hot which didn’t help, but the Kings had no chemistry, Bogi was awful and just no rhythm. I thought for sure we would smoke Phoenix

We will go only as far as Fox takes us. I think it is completely fair to question whether he can play a leadership role. Speed and quickness will only get you so far. His passing and shooting is still sub par. We need to see signs in the first 10 games that he’s actually the man.

otherwise, get ready for the Doncic crowd to invade this board

The thing is that the Kings played absolutely nothing like what we saw tonight during the preseason. In the preseason, they were still getting out on the break and moving without the ball whereas tonight everyone decided to just go full iso-ball for some reason.

The Kings 4 best scorers all start, so if Bagley is going to start, they really need to stagger him to play with the bench as much as possible so he can get his touches.
This wasn't the real Kings tonight but this is an issue that will have to be dealt with. He got way too comfortable with that bench unit in the 3rd. Joseph is a solid role player, but I think somewhere along the line they got convinced he's like Lou Williams with D. He's not. The players they signed this summer can be valuable additions but none of them are catalysts and shouldn't be used as such.
