Except Bogi sucked last season too.
That was partially injury related (he's way better than a 36% three-point shooter when healthy). And he has a tendency of trying to do too much when he's asked to be a primary ball-handler. His numbers weren't terrible last season, he just wasn't knocking down shots. His ideal role is the one Buddy is playing for us right now... come off screens or spot up and knock down shots. Then use the threat of the jumper to create open looks when the defense overplays him. I wish he played more of his minutes next to a competent PG. Coming off the bench he's been asked to bring the ball up and create too much in my opinion.
Though if this is our new offense for the rest of the year I'm not sure it would matter much. Fox looks like he doesn't know where to go with the ball which was not the case with him at all last season. He's a smart enough player that I suspect he's trying his best to run the offense, it's just not a system that works. I honestly can't figure out
what we're trying to do out there offensively right now. I was tracking shots in the first quarter and there were 3 or 4 bad shots for every good shot. Some of those bad shots went in but you hate to see guys forcing pull-ups in traffic, long twos, and wild drives into the lane in the
first quarter of the
first game of the season. Nobody should be tired yet, nobody is nursing injuries or distracted or sleep deprived. I hope it was just nerves and our new coach is as pissed as we are because otherwise we're in for a very rough season.
