I am out until the Minesota game
--------------------------------------------------------------------
4 game losing streak long forgotten as Kings improved to phenomenal 9-8 riding the4 game winning streak as the demolished sucky oposition that was on the menu. With 8-2 at home Kings have one of the best home records in the NBA. 7 of the next 10 games are on the road and for Kings it will be important to steal a few which will be very difficult. On the other hand - the 3 home games include Heat,Wolves and Wizards and neither team has winning record on the road - well Heat kinda does until tonight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
First time this season Kings will play 4 games in 5 nights and for the first time we will probably miss our 2 injured guys a lot because to win that 3rd or 4th game - you need all you can get. The good thing is that there is absolutely no pressure whatsoever since we are supposed to lose at least 3 games considering that we are playing Suns who are 6-0 at home, Spurs who are getting healthy and Hornets who will look for payback + they might have CP3 back. Our best bet is Sunday and the Heat who are already in the West for a while and lost most of the games. So 1-3 possibly even 0-4 are expected.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not so fast. This are the new Kings making their own rules, habits, names, history. Only game that I consider lost is the last one in San Antonio. The other 3 games are not so simple written up. Suns will have matchup problems all over the place. Heat will be tired @ ARCO and Hornets suck at best and while they are playing better we can play them well. While I don't expect to stay above 0.500 after this trip - it is possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of Suns - great example that you have to be who you are. For two years they have sucked while the fat speed bump was occupying large amount of space in their paint. Quick addition by subtraction brought them back to "good old Suns." Are they going to win anything - sure they will win the golden pineapple and the top spot in the power rankings in November but other than that - nothing probably not even a playoff round. Still better than the last 2 season trying to invent warm water.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeff Foster is an amazing player and if he would only play the Kings 82 times a year he would be the MVP each and every season of his career. All scouting team should get a free vacation in a five star gulag in Siberia. It happens each and every game. If a "non expert" would be told that it was Foster's first game this season in which he got in double digits in rebounds - he/she would be shocked. I knew it without watching Pacers or checking box score. He might not have another career game again until we face them again. Luckily he doesn't shoot threes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of a guy who shoots threes - Spencer Hawes has hit some this time around. Spencer would perfectly fit to Indiana or better said to that style of basketball. Slow, white man who can't jump, defend, rebound but who really likes to shoot. He would perfectly fit with Brad Miller as a pair of big man for a team with 30 wins per year. We need a true center.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings showed some signs of arrogance in the beginning of the Pacers game in sense that there wasn't 100% effort and sense of urgency - like they expected an easy game. We are not good enough to win with anything less than 100% for 48 minutes. At the end Kings shot to well and shared the ball great (28 assists) and compensated the career rebounding game of Jeff Foster.
------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM - Jeff Foster 's expected career game

LW-VC - I expected more from Hibbert since he was the only really tall dude on the floor

JHA - Donte sucked this time

RA&1 - T.J. Ford - what the hell happened to this guy?

SAR-Metuselah - Murphy is getting old

WTF moment of the game - pick any of the 18 rebounds that Foster was allowed to get
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Suns on the 2 game losing streak waiting for the "easy win" but we won't play that part. I expect us to make them work. Plenty of matchups that are very intriguing. Evans vs Nash on both ends of the floor. 3Pt contest between Frye and Hawes. Sergio vs Barbosa. We have to stay in the game early so they don't go away.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Evans - triple double time
Noc - defense
Donte - bounce back game
JT - don't foul
Spencer - double double for a change

Beno - solid
Sergio - less turnovers
Omri - perfect game for him to shine
Brockman - hit them hard

Rest - mateen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Small ball, 8 sec and less team is back. Suns 14-5 and 6-0 at home are dominating regular season playing what they used to play before the speed bump. Not as talented but still good enough. Since the ultimate non plus ultra Kings killer Barbosa has lost eligibility for the TDM award - favoites are Frye and Dragic. To have a chance of winning this game we need JRich to get LW-VC award and Hill to pick up the Metuselah. It will be a challenge and Kings will show up. Will it be enough ?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobcats:rolleyes:- only they can enter the record books this way. Franchise without any purpose.

Big game. Could catapult our young roster's confidence. Phoenix has been struggling the past two games, but they have won 15 in a row at home.

Kings win this and I will beg for money so that I can attend sunday's game against the Heat.

Edit: You got Sunday's game thread handled Piksi?

Anyone know who'll be matching up with Nash for sure though? Will it be Tyreke or Beno?

I hope it will be Tyreke vs Nash, and I expect Evans to clown on Nash real hard

It is all of a sudden looking possible we could keep this +.500 thing going deep into the month. All three home games are winnable, and we've been winning at home. And while we're likely going to get crushed on the road, all we would need to do is go 2-5 in those road games, win the three at home, and still be at 14-13 in 3 weeks. Doesn't mean it will happen, but you can see it in the realm of possibility.

OUr home schedule BTW...have you ever seen sucha collection of patsy teams lined up one after another after another for the first two months of the season? My goodness. Of course it all balances out, after the new year we get to spend 4 solid months playing nothing but elite teams and title contenders at Arco. Oh, and the Clippers. So we get at least a few free wins. ;)

I hopefully we can lock up the three point shooters, I fear that Channing Frye will have a career night
He is averaging 12.9 pts and 5.8 rbs a game. Dare I point out that he is shooting 46.8% from 3pt range (51 of 109). That is almost 6 attempts per game (and we thought Hawes was taking too many at almost 2 attempts a game).

Man it feels good to look forward to watching the Kings play a good game of basketball (just like old times). I wish they were playing tonight as well!!
I had to watch other games tonight instead. The Nets finally won. And OKC lost but hey! We're in 9th place!! And weird, but the Spurs are in 8th!

frye has been on fire though... he isnt scoring much but everything he shoots is a wide open three...

Go Sacramento!!
I wonder how JT will do with Amare Stoudimire and how Beno/Tyreke will do with Nash..
If Kings won't make silly mistakes (Turnovers) and stay in focus, everything is possible.
Go Sacramento!!

I think the wildcard for the kings in this game is Donte, he should match up well with the suns. He can get up and down the court, will get some open jumpers against the suns defense, adn should be able to attack the basket. If Donte gets 12+ pts, and makes his presence felt on defense, I think we will have a chance in the 4th.

i was thinkin' about this the other day. the kings schedule has been phenomenally soft to start the season, especially at home. and, while it does all even out in the end, i think its been a true gift from the scheduling gods. for the most part, the kings are beating teams they should be beating. but, more importantly, they know they can beat the teams they should be beating, because they're beating them one after another. i would think that its done wonders for the team's confidence. if the kings were getting crushed by one elite team after another in the first third of the season, i can't imagine the team having much confidence, and i could see them losing the kinds of games they're winning now.

but, with the kings present schedule being what it is, and with the kings' record being what it is, i can see them having the confidence to steal a game or two from upper-echelon teams, even on the road. before day one of the regular season, the kings were a young, losing team without an identity. now they're a young, scrappy, exciting team with a +.500 record. of course, somewhere in between then and now, kevin martin went down with an injury. we can argue all day about what the kings should do upon his return, but it was a significant event, regardless, because it sped up the process of heavily featuring tyreke evans, omri casspi, and even donte greene as integral parts of this team's identity. i don't know if the kings will be able to sustain a .500 record across the long haul of the season (their interior defense is still anemic, and the turnover problem just won't go away), but the future is bright. they're a lot closer to becoming a winning team (read: a playoff team) then i would have thought on october 28th, when they lost on the road to the thunder. on the road against the suns tonight is a good test of their confidence.

I predict we will see many thoughts about Kevin Martin's return similar to the thoughts we saw around here when Webb returned the year he had his injury.
