I am glad to hear this news! I have been checking out footage of this guy from college, (a buddy of mine is a big UNLV fan). This guy really does remind me of Ben Wallace in a lot of ways. I can only imagine how much Ron Artest likes what he sees in this kid. What an athlete! He hustles on every play.
I think what alot of people don't understand is that he's a UNIQUE athlete. It seems most want a comparable player comparison, but its very dificult with a guy like Lou, he's one of those unique players that just make things happen. A Rodman like player, without the attitude. Lou is old school, but plays the up-tempo game well too. He's got one of the quicker leaps of players I've witnessed....hence the Shawn Marion comparison....but he's in your face annoying, hustling every play, and crashing every board....sometimes missing his own shot and hitting the ground and bouncing up before anybody else can react to put back his own miss.
He's 6'9" and he's been measure before to have a 40 in verticle (36" was his measurement during the NBA measures). An article from a few years ago noted that he's been diagnosed with an abnormally large heart which makes him a conditioning freak.......a resting heartbeat that would be a sign of death for most of us. The doctor from the article said that Lance Armstrong has the same makeup, with the larger than normal heart. Its why Lance is such a great conditioned athlete....well that and hard work.
Lou is also, "That Player"....you know, the guy that is everybody's fan favorite. He has been since his freshman year....and the reason why is he gets out there and just disrupts the other team's game. He just everywhere, and sometimes he goes too far (fouls), but he's just a coach's dream when it comes to leaving it all on the floor. Its why Bobby Knight said that (after Lou ate his Texas Tech team for lunch) he hasn't seen recently a player that he wished he could've coach more than Lou Amundson....said this to Lou himself and then to the media....see the link....

BTW...you want your Justin Williams??? just wait a year...there's a guy from Canada that UNLV got out of a no-name juco last year....his name is Joel Anthony. He led UNLV with blocks his junior year with only 13 minutes per game, and was 4th in the league. Head to head against Wyoming in the MWC league tournament, he blocked Justin Williams 5-6 times (although he was credited with only 3), and totally outplayed Williams...beating Wyoming. They went head to head. Long Kruger (UNLV coach) redshirted Anthony last year to develop him better. Anthony grew up playing soccer in Canada and only played 4 or 5 years of basketball....now Anthony just made the Canadian Men's national team (not the junior team, the real national team).....you'll love this kid.
