Were you that caller to Grant's show Darth? I didn't do any snooping so I bit on it hook, line and sinker.
GAWD, no. But I did hear the show, and that's what gave me the Yi idea. This time, my revenge attempt worked

What would Utah take for Williams? PPat? JT? Toss Jimmer in the mix in order for Utah to sell some tickets and jerseys?
What would GS take for Barnes? JT? They are hurting for a big as well and a contingency in case Bogut goes down.
I am still trying to find a suitor for MT.
You have got to be f*****g kidding me!!!!

Revenge on whom exactly? Sorry, kid, but that's not funny. People come here to try and catch the latest news, especially on the weekends. Something like that could have gotten picked and spread all over the place. KF would look pretty stupid if it was traced back here...
There is something going on.. There's got to be. I will call it right here and say there is something in the works with either GS or Utah and that we will get a SF in exchange for either PP or JT (and another player depending on which team). Let's hope it's PP...
There better be. We now are over loaded with smalls and bigs and still missing the SF. If we sign Yi, it's just one more head scratcher. Too bad we are losing faith in PDA because this has all the appearance that we are getting ready to unload a mini-chucker and a big guy to get someone and I would hope it is a SF. If we aren't doing that, it makes little sense. It's interesting we didn't get Lopex yet went after Landry.
IT
Jimmer
Vasquez
McLemore
MT
McCallum
PPat
Cousins
JT
Landry
Hayes
There is a solid rumor we are trying to get Yi Jianlin
Salmons
Outlaw
K, note, the Yi thing was a joke. Nobody run with it please. The way things are going it would be believed.
Glenn, the Yi thing was a joke. Darth Divac admitted it, but then deleted the post. I'm going to restore that particular post so there is NO further confusion.
How in hell are we to have a serious discussion with this kind of **** going on., This is worse than your standard trolling.
That's not the worst idea in the world, but Barnes significantly concerns me. I have posted elsewhere how his first year stats were nearly identical to Omri Casspi's. And we all know how that worked out. Basically all ideas to overpay and throw assets at him are based on a short playoff run. That's not to say I don't want him at all or that I wouldn't make your offer -- its a clever one designed to tempt them. But I also happen to think IT is a perfect change of pace guard off the bench behind the big lumbering Vasquez -- I was arguing for him in that role all last year. And I could see us regretting throwing too many assets after Barnes. I dunno, maybe we could think outside of our nice comfy little homespun box and actually look to someplace OTHER than Golden State and Denver for their castoffs? If Malone likes him, I suppose that's good enough for me, but you could seriously leave Cousisn completely exposed up there alone if McLemore and Barnes are struggling to score 20ppg a night combined.
I wouldn't count on that till at least after the trade deadline at this point.
Nice try. Make sure that story you are writing fits limited data we have.
We were still going after Calderon even after we got Vasquez.

2 mil extra being too much might be ok if we just did not use 6.5 mil to what you describe as a bench quality player.
At least your post vibes optimism.
While I'm all for waiting to see what's going to happen before commenting on the team, here's an analogy for the guys who keep saying that everyone is overreacting.
Say you want to bake a cake. You tried mixing talcum powder and flour once and the cake didn't turn out well, so you got rid of the talcum powder. Now you want to bake a cake again, and you decide to mix talcum powder and flour yet again. Hey, maybe the cake turns out real tasty because you added some other stuff to it right? So sure, you could sit back and wait for the cake to bake and taste it. But I sure as hell wouldn't fault a person for criticizing my adding the talcum powder in the first place.
I just don't get it. A bad move is a bad move, period. The end result is what matters but the end result is very much a product of all the moves that go into it. It's perfectly reasonable to disagree with a poster for thinking a move is bad, but to criticize him for not waiting to see the end product when he already thinks the move is bad is silly.
The story fits. The thing is we are so used to having a short sighted front office that apparently you cant even comprehend the possibility that they are capable of developing backup plans. Calderon was plan 1, and had he signed Vazquez would have been shipped off for something else. He declined our offer and we were left with a 6'6" PG who was third in the league in assists last year, and 2nd in assist rate. Its nice to have a front office capable of preparing for multiple possibilities.
And I'm sorry what is wrong with spending 6.5 mil on someone who you could count on as a big time bench player? Am I missing something?

There's one big problem with your scenario. You don't use talcum powder to bake a cake. A better example might be to say that you wanted to make chocolate frosting but used semi-sweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate. Both chocolates are used in cooking, but individual tastes differ on which chocolate is better.
Carl Landry is coming back to a different team, with a different coach and hopefully different dynamic. You're presuming it won't work out, but it's not like using talcum powder in a cake recipe...
He's cloned three times - PPat, JT, Hayes. He's taking future flexibility from a lottery team that debatably shouldn't be concerned with wins, but assets.
I want so much to believe that we are planning on making a move for Asik or Varejao or some starting level defensive minded center. But why not wait until you actually trade for him before signing Carl Landry? It was not like Landry was this hot commodity that every team in the league was trying to acquire.
Someone should tell PDA that one of things that made helped Landry in GS was playing next to a defensive beast in Bogut. One, we don't have a Bogut type and two, even if we did we have Cuz eating up most of the mins at center. For Landry to be at his best he needs a defensive center next to him.
And now, how we solve our defensive issues on our frontline? Get a defensive center, he's stuck playing 10 mins per behind Cuz. Get a defensive PF to pair with Cuz, then we just paid the PF's backup(and that PF should get big mins if he's a good defender who pairs well with our cornerstone) about 6M per year. That's another issue, as soon as we go about improving and as soon as we get a defensive PF next to Cuz, Landry's contract becomes even worse. he becomes the guy who's getting 6M per for about 15 mins a night. That is pretty much the same scenario we're facing in our backcourt with MT behind MLM.
The move makes no sense. And for those saying it's early and we'll improve, well when we get some defenders and do improve, that contract looks worse as that cuts into Landry's role. And if Lee was healthy in the playoffs, Landry's minutes would have been much less behind Bogut/Lee and actually Jackson went with his defensive bigs over Landry in a few of the playoff games. Landry is a guy who can help you in spurts, in certain situations, yet that doesn't equal his price tag nor does what he brings help fix any of our issues.
Well I would have loved to use your analogy VF but my knowledge of baking kinda limited me on that front![]()
But then again maybe my analogy is not so far off in that said person at the end of my analogy thinks that adding semi-sweet chocolate is as good as adding talcum powder. I'm sure you can think of some celebrity chefs exaggerating the poor quality of food or their disgust at a chef-wannabe adding certain ingredients to a dish. To them, it is taboo. And in this particular case I think a big problem is that the same courtesy being extended to Landry was not extended to Reke. Tyreke could have come back to a different team with a different coach and hopefully different dynamics, but some people have no problem saying that Evans (a younger player mind you) would not have fit with Cousins and so on. Last I checked Landry didn't fit with Cousins in his tenure here either.
You definitely need to stay away from the cooking analogies.
Our team was a crapfest; there's just no other way to say it. Carl Landry is a class act. He's a good teammate, a veteran presence, and he gets along very well with Malone. Him being here could very well help set the new tone in the locker room, something that shouldn't be overlooked right now.
We had two players who stood head and shoulders above the rest (not counting the rookie). Our new ownership decided to put his money on one of them. You can only have one lead dog on a sled team. Cousins is in the lead now. It might not have been what some would have chosen, but that's just the way it is. To argue that Evans didn't receive the same consideration is futile because we will never know all the data that went into management's decision, nor will we know what demands Tellem may have made that influenced that decision...
I support the guys who still wear the uniform, and remember fondly a lot of those who left. It's just life.
I second that.
Learn from Bricky how those things are done.
Only issue I'll take with this is the concept that moving forward with Cousins means we had to ship off Reke because we could only have one guy. I just don't see how that applies at all in today's league but its getting tossed around here a lot. If anything, having one "guy" has proven to be highly unsuccessful. And it isn't even really about compatible guys since most of the best teams have at least two stars that aren't always a clear fit.
