yeah timing is impecable. the YI thing was totally believable as sad as that is. ok back to work. GS, Utah and atlanta all need big men and little shooters. Indiana has 3 SF's and Chicago is rumored to be wanting somebody to take their SF. Sooooo. Barnes, granger , deng who else did i see Favors. is LA still unhappy in Portland?

I was hoping Utah would re-sign either Milsap and Jefferson or both in order to leave Kanter and Favors on the trading block. But, now that they lost both, they are suddenly thin up front. Gobert is fresh and Jeremy Evans is more of a 3, though they'll probably try to play him as a 4. The point is, we won't be able to snatch a big from them anymore. And they're not getting rid of Hayward, so you can forget about that as well.
As for GS, they have Ezeli, Bogut and Lee in their frontcourt. Also, not thin, but not loaded either. Add to the fact that they can go small from time to time, so getting rid of Barnes for one of our bigs that may or may not crack their rotation is fruitless.

I love Favors for so many reasons, including the dream pairing between him and Cuz. Unfortunately he also happens to be the best player on his team with a management that is ridiculously high on him.

There better be. We now are over loaded with smalls and bigs and still missing the SF. If we sign Yi, it's just one more head scratcher. Too bad we are losing faith in PDA because this has all the appearance that we are getting ready to unload a mini-chucker and a big guy to get someone and I would hope it is a SF. If we aren't doing that, it makes little sense. It's interesting we didn't get Lopex yet went after Landry.

I wouldn't count on that till at least after the trade deadline at this point.
What kind of logic is that? Tyreke's rookie year is on par or better than the rookie years of Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant. First year stats are almost meaningless and even more meaningless when you compare them to a failed players rookie year and assume their career will go down the same path because of it.
If you compare Barnes' playoff run to his season stats, they're basically the same. He just played more minutes. He'd be the best SF on our team and he's a young lottery pick that has a lot more potential than Omri ever had. Yeah Omri had a flukey rookie year and fizzled out. It happens to some players. But you can't say just because another player had similar stats, that he's going to fizzle out as well.

While I'm all for waiting to see what's going to happen before commenting on the team, here's an analogy for the guys who keep saying that everyone is overreacting.
Say you want to bake a cake. You tried mixing talcum powder and flour once and the cake didn't turn out well, so you got rid of the talcum powder. Now you want to bake a cake again, and you decide to mix talcum powder and flour yet again. Hey, maybe the cake turns out real tasty because you added some other stuff to it right? So sure, you could sit back and wait for the cake to bake and taste it. But I sure as hell wouldn't fault a person for criticizing my adding the talcum powder in the first place.
I just don't get it. A bad move is a bad move, period. The end result is what matters but the end result is very much a product of all the moves that go into it. It's perfectly reasonable to disagree with a poster for thinking a move is bad, but to criticize him for not waiting to see the end product when he already thinks the move is bad is silly. Perhaps extending that discontent to "throwing PDA under the bus" is a little over-the-top, but the guy has zero reputation as a GM to begin with. His first two moves (in the opinion of the unhappy posters) were bad, so it's like already taking two steps backward before he has taken a step forward. We are passionate fans, we want the Kings to win. Two steps (seemingly) back with long-term effects (Evans potential star, Landry 4 year deal) is arguably enough to cause a passionate fan to develop a great distaste for PDA.
And the same applies to the people who dont' think the moves were bad or liked the moves. We are all entitled to our basketball opinions, and since neither group of fans has seen how the team plays or how the team will look like 2 years from now the argument essentially simplifies to "wait and see" vs "I don't think we're heading in the right direction... I want to nip the problem in the bud". How could either group be faulted for their way of thinking??

The story fits. The thing is we are so used to having a short sighted front office that apparently you cant even comprehend the possibility that they are capable of developing backup plans. Calderon was plan 1, and had he signed Vazquez would have been shipped off for something else. He declined our offer and we were left with a 6'6" PG who was third in the league in assists last year, and 2nd in assist rate. Its nice to have a front office capable of preparing for multiple possibilities.
And I'm sorry what is wrong with spending 6.5 mil on someone who you could count on as a big time bench player? Am I missing something?
It is funny. So many people taking the approach of "it's only a bad move if we can't correct the existing bad moves". Of course, we haven't been able to correct those moves the past couple seasons but adding more redundant pieces aren't a problem because there is a vision. What vision exactly? We don't know but just because we aren't addressing our biggest needs directly, we shouldn't assume we won't because other teams want our redundant pieces for the more rare ones we need. Get it?
I asked someone else claiming this was a totally reasonable contract but didn't get a response. How many undersized backup bigs that don't rebound or defend have this kind of deal at age 30? Can we name any?

He's cloned three times - PPat, JT, Hayes. He's taking future flexibility from a lottery team that debatably shouldn't be concerned with wins, but assets.
There's one big problem with your scenario. You don't use talcum powder to bake a cake. A better example might be to say that you wanted to make chocolate frosting but used semi-sweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate. Both chocolates are used in cooking, but individual tastes differ on which chocolate is better.
Carl Landry is coming back to a different team, with a different coach and hopefully different dynamic. You're presuming it won't work out, but it's not like using talcum powder in a cake recipe...

Nice try. How about going with all his tweets? He clearly states they were trying to work a trade and sign Calderon. They agreed to the sign and trade for Vasquez when Calderon turned down the deal.

And in this particular case I think a big problem is that the same courtesy being extended to Landry was not extended to Reke. Tyreke could have come back to a different team with a different coach and hopefully different dynamics, but some people have no problem saying that Evans (a younger player mind you) would not have fit with Cousins and so on. Last I checked Landry didn't fit with Cousins in his tenure here either.

Obviously this being a good deal is contingent upon our glut of PF being thinned out with some trades. In no way do I think we go into the season with Hayes, JT, PPat, and Landry.

Defensive beast? Maybe when healthy, but he only started 32 games last year in the regular season and until the last couple weeks was playing through injury and largely ineffective.

Our team was a crapfest; there's just no other way to say it. Carl Landry is a class act. He's a good teammate, a veteran presence, and he gets along very well with Malone. Him being here could very well help set the new tone in the locker room, something that shouldn't be overlooked right now.
We had two players who stood head and shoulders above the rest (not counting the rookie). Our new ownership decided to put his money on one of them. You can only have one lead dog on a sled team. Cousins is in the lead now. It might not have been what some would have chosen, but that's just the way it is. To argue that Evans didn't receive the same consideration is futile because we will never know all the data that went into management's decision, nor will we know what demands Tellem may have made that influenced that decision...
I support the guys who still wear the uniform, and remember fondly a lot of those who left. It's just life.

Only issue I'll take with this is the concept that moving forward with Cousins means we had to ship off Reke because we could only have one guy. I just don't see how that applies at all in today's league but its getting tossed around here a lot. If anything, having one "guy" has proven to be highly unsuccessful. And it isn't even really about compatible guys since most of the best teams have at least two stars that aren't always a clear fit.

Examples outside of Lebron and Wade? Because with Evans and Cousins we r clearly not talking about 2 top 10 players in the league, and its not even close. And the new regime clearly felt their games didnt work well together, especially with the way they want to structure the team going forward.
