Well it's a pretty easy advantage to give up you know if you wanted to...
not to be a wiseass but despite the notion that a team losing game 1 or 2 at home has "lost home court advantage" in today's narrative that's simply untrue as Game 7 will always be played at the top seed's home.

This is pathetic. No way around it smh what a way to return the favor to the fans that greeted you at the mf airport. WHY ARE WE THIS BAD AT HOME????
you're talking about the same team who couldn't clinch the playoffs for the fans at home against a T-Wolves team coming off a back to back without KAT... it's been a great season overall, but sometimes I feel like they just aren't in the game.

Tonight's game makes it 23-17 at home and 24-14 on the road.. it's a big difference. Compare it to every other team in the NBA with a similar record

All the west coast teams losing these early games is no surprise though. At least we aren't alone but here come the Lakers with their cupcake schedule

Nah, I'm usually the "long-term only matters" guy around here, but this loss is just flat out bad and deserves ridicule. 2-19 from 3 for Huerter and Fox is unacceptable. Allowing this version of the Spurs to score 140 is even more unacceptable.

Kings have their first playoff basketball in 2 weeks in nearly 2 decades. This is the time the squad should be peaking, not getting wrecked by the G-League Spurs
Every team has an off night , it happens.

You'd think going by some of the reactions on here, we had just lost our 50th game of the season or something. I think everyone needs a drink.
Well it is disheartening because when we were clinching and celebrating, they all came out and told us "it's nice for fans but we are aiming higher"

Yet the immediate next game we came out flat and settling with low energy. I understand we didn't have our energizing bunny in Monk but we gotta play better in every scenario whether we are a better team on paper or not, if we wanna aim higher.

Some of you pooh-poohed the observation that the Kings don't defend their home court nearly as well as 50-ish-win teams typically do.

Going into the playoffs having earned home court advantage, I think there's very legit reason to be concerned over what that will be worth.

There's a pretty good chance we'll finish within 1 game home and away. It's definitely a measure of not meeting expectations at home, usually during "trap games" if we're being honest. There's no "trap games" in the playoffs. and only the officials that get it right in the regular season are invited to ref playoff games.

I would not trade the 3 seed for the 6 seed. hello?!?

We’re gonna get smacked in the playoffs. We’ve been shaky for a minute, and this seals it. Great season. Glad we’re (probably) winning a Pacific banner.
Shaky for a minute? With this loss we are 15-6 since the ASB. I suppose you can focus on us being 4-4 in our last 8, but that is hardly shaky. Today was a bad, awful loss, but don’t turn it into some untrue narrative about us being shaky for a stretch of games.

Even with this loss, the Kings still have the best record in the league post-all-star-break.
That just goes with my point: Tonight was a bad loss in the context of gaining ground on Memphis, but we are still playing at a good level imo to do some damage in the playoffs. Losses like this happen in every sport. I shudder to think how people will react if we lose our first playoff game.

At least that team is pretty damn good and deep. THIS crap from today though? I dont get it.

The playoffs will be telling because it seems we don’t always get up for games mentally. Are we Draymond Greening our way through teams like this or at home? It’s just a loss but it felt like we were kinda just coasting early expecting to turn it on in the late 3rd early 4th and steam roll them. The good news is we won’t have a coasting option in the playoffs so maybe we will see our best effort and focus every game come post season.

Maybe someone like Monk would have given us more energy. Searching for an excuse here and i picked that one - i wish we could play tomorrow night or something so we can quickly get over this crap. No need to go for 50 wins or whatever the hell at this point, clearly they didn't want it.

Christ. The way we play at home with low energy really scares me - just rest these guys and leave us alone until playoff time. Im so annoyed
I think it shows how important Monk is to the team, not only in his performance but his general demeanor when we are down and play with low energy. He is always the one who always play with effort regardless, sometimes to a fault, but you've never seen Monk out there not putting his all on the line.

THAT is what reminds me of Bobby the most.
