Despite being able to trade since the end of last season's playoffs (and teams that weren't in the postseason could trade amongst each other), the majority of deals are done either in the summer or as the trade deadline approaches. League sources polled this week said Philadelphia and New York are the most active. The 76ers are shopping the likes of small forward Andre Iguodala (four seasons and combined $56.5 million beyond this season) and center Samuel Dalembert ($12.9 million next season), with the Kings having shown some interest in Dalembert. Sacamento Bee

There are potential targets for the Kings who would come with less risk: Golden State's Andris Biedrins (four seasons and a combined $36 million remaining) and Washington's Brendan Haywood (expiring contract worth $6 million this season). Haywood is the sort of defensive-minded presence they covet, but he's also a hot commodity at the moment. Sacamento Bee

Charlotte – which sources say would be very motivated by any trade involving Kings second-year forward Jason Thompson – has a logjam of centers whom the Kings may inquire about: Nazr Mohammed (6-foot-10), DeSagana Diop (7-0), Alexis Ajinca (7-0) and oft-injured Tyson Chandler (7-1). The Bobcats may also have interest in the expiring contract of Kenny Thomas ($8.7 million this season), as he has been highly regarded by Charlotte coach Larry Brown since they were together in Philadelphia. Sacamento Bee

hmmm. interesting. Isn't Haywood old though? And from what I know, Dalembert has a low bball iq. What do you guys think about Biedrins, Diop, Mohammed or those other 2 Charlotte Big men?

Yes, Diop or Chandler or Mohammed are really going to land them JT:rolleyes:. 2nd, IF Larry Brown wants Jason, that's enough of a reason to realize he's still talented and he'll eventually come out of his slump. The only trade I'd make with them potentially is like Chandler for K9.

All of these rumors are actually from the Sacramento Bee. ;)

kenny for nazr?

Doesn't anybody want Noc? Come on Boston!

I wonder that myself. He would fit so well in Boston coming off the bench, and playing some spot minutes with the starters here and there if he had the hot hand. Oh well. I think Nocioni would do well in Utah as well, but not sure who I would want from the Jazz.

Oh, was not questioning the rumors or reason for the thread. Was questioning the insidehoops.com part of the title. ;)

Looks like they were just quoting the SacBee as their source. I believe we have all seen those rumors anyhow.

Trading JT for one of those 7 foot bums would be a horrible idea. JT has way more upside than any of those guys. He is a core player on this team, they can send us one of those guys if they want K9 or Noc.

I think we have 3 options available to us by the deadline:

1) I think with CP3 going down, NOH looks into an Okafor for expirings+small incentive type of deal, something like K9 +Sergio for Okafor.
2) I think the Sixers are DESPERATE to move Daly's deal for expirings, but his TK of 3.5 million is awful, but I think we could potentially do Noc+Hilton for Daly or k9+Hilton for Daly and Cash(3 million) is a very realistic type deal.
3) I think Tyson Chandler or Nazr Mohammed could be had for Kenny's expiring deal.

Of those three, I actually think Dalembert makes the most sense. He's the best FT shooter, shotblocker AND is on par with Okafor in terms of rebounding %'s and he's deal ends in 2011, giving us great financial flexibility than if we added Okafor.

I'd be thrilled to add Okafor, and he's definitely a 'sexier' name than Dalembert, but looking across all the advanced statistics on basketball-reference.com, I think Dalembert is a near equal player with 3 less years on his 'bloated' deal, making him the best bet for our roster, from the team MOST motivated to move their big(the sixers are desperately looking to dump him).

My preference is Noc+Hilton for Dalembert.

Does anyone know how serious Chandler's injury is? Maybe we can trade Noc/JT for Chandler and hope that he's able to come back next year at full strength.

Damn I'm glad you're not the GM....that's RIDICULOUS from our POV. Chandler doesn't have NEAR that much value....

Well according to some news JT is on the block. So if we are trying to get rid of him might as well try and get a legit center if he has a chance of coming back to full strength.

JT/K9 for Mohammed/Aug works on trade checker.

I feel the same way about this as I do about trading Kmart......not a fan.

But I do like DJ.

As much as JT frustrates me, I'm with you. He's worth way more than any of those scrubs.

Please link me the sources that claim JT is on the block. I'd imagine if he were, he'd be on the block for a star level player, I.E. Bosh, Boozer etc. NOT Tyson 'FRICKIN' Chandler.

By "full strength", do you mean having the best point guard in the league setting you up every night?

Tyson Chandler sucks.

I think Tyreke is a good enough PG to set him up if he ever gets to full strength. Chandler can actually finish with some authority unlike anyone on our team.

Nazir is too old to trade for JT

Haywood is too old to trade for JT

Anjica is a bean pole

Chandler is Injury prone

Dalembert averaging 7.5pts and 9 Reb is not worth 12.9million

Biedrins averaging 5.7pts and 7.5 Reb with 36.5 million on his contract is a bench guy, if we were to trade JT for him he'd be our starter. We wouldn't gain anything.

It would be foolish honestly,

JT was putting up 16/9 at a respectable fg% early on this season. Slump aside, there is no reason to think he cant get back there.

His ceiling isnt super high, he may have already almost reached it, but even then JT could be an excellent bench big for us going foward (assuming we draft or trade for a superior PF).

All those Charlotte players named are pretty much ****. If we're trading JT, we better be getting back Bosh or Emeka.

I dont think i would even give up JT for emeka n his fat contract AND I would only give up JT for Bosh if we knew for sure he was going to be around longer than 40ish games.

Because another team inquires about JT, doesn't mean he's on the block. Anymore that if Larry Brown called Petrie and asked what it would take to bet Evans. Look at the sources before judging.

Haywood is 30 years old. He won't be 31 until next November. I don't think anyone has questioned Dalembert's Basketball IQ. They've questioned his attitude at times. I love Biedrins and would love to have him on the team. Diop is a career backup center, and will probably never be more than that. Mohammed is a servicable starting center and a good backup center. He's a good defender and he has really improved his offense since he came into the league.

Of all these guys my first choice would be Dalembert, followed closely by Biedrins. However, you could switch the two and I'd be perfectly happy.

Slump or no slump, JT has been projected as our PF of the future. If were going to trade him then he needs to be part of some trade that brings back either another PF of the future, or a center of the future. Not a career backup center thats 30 years old. Or a center that spends more time on the injured list than on the court.

I say trade Hawes for Thabeet, I know, crazy talk because Hawes does have his moments but if we can get a draft pick out of it and Thabeet can play some D and reb, that's what they need.

See Collison last couple games? Dude is a baller. I saw a lot of him at UCLA and had no clue he was capable of this!

I think we could theoretically trade JT, but all four of those big men Charlotte has are varying levels of suck. If we trade JT, we better get an established player around his peak who fills a need for us. Easier said than done.

JT has been projected as our PF of the future by Kings management but to everybody else, he's probably a hyper-active PF who comes off the bench and plays 20 minutes. Sure, when we drafted him we had hopes that he was our PF for the next 10 years but sometimes the plan doesn't always work out. I think it's becoming fairly clear that JT will not be our starting PF of the future. We will be looking elsewhere to fill that hole. With that being said, I don't think we should expect another "PF of the future" with any JT trade. I consider JT a sunk cost at this point.
